Since the start of the corona virus, I don't care much for Bill Gates anymore....Amazon, Google, Microsoft, etc have too much money and power nowadays. I'd rather support the companies that are struggling.
I can't for the life of me understand how so many grown adults have convinced themselves that Microsoft's 60 minutes of trailers and curated alpha demos was somehow vastly inferior to Sony's 60 minutes of trailers and curated alpha demos.
Lol. This shit is actually fucking retarded. The video games shown in each showcase are different. So by definition, they are not the same games and every single person watching both conferences is going to be comparing them, and making their own judgement as to whether the apple looks more appealing than the orange.
And while there are undoubtedly people who prefer each showcase, the general reactions speak for themselves.
It's like your purposefully obtuse. Both showcases had apples and oranges, and I challenge that anyone who watched them both would be able to truthfully admit that their response wasn't a back and forth tennis match of "That apple looks great, that orange looks like shit, that banana is kinda interesting but I really don't care, that apple looks great, that pear is for kids ... ... ..." Put that all together and you have a 6/7 out of 10 presentation from both companies.
You may be more excited for Horizon than Halo, and personally I am too, but to act like one company fell flat on their face while the other forced the world to collectively run and change their pants is a load of fanboy kiddie bullshit.
And to reiterate, the single-player critical darlings that are always highlights in Sony presentations typically only sell to 1 in 8 PS4 owners. The rest of them wanted to play Fortnight and FIFA and just went with the market leader, as Cuddleheart said. They followed the herd and the advice of the bro at Best Buy.

Apples and oranges very, very rarely add up to equal value, or even comparative value.
If you truly believe that the apples and oranges shown at conference A are exactly equal to the apples and oranges shown at conference B, you're free to see it that way. You are neither right nor wrong. That is your opinion.
I do not think that the apples and oranges shown at both conferences are equal. I don't even think they're close. I think Microsoft's conference was a 5 and Sony's was an 8. Sony was one God of War or Persona 6 short of a perfect show. That is my opinion.
Personally, if I had to buy one of the new consoles it would be Microsoft all the way. The inexpensive access to software owns anything Sony has. While God of War might be pretty, I would take Halo any day in the week.
Btw, even Gabe Newell favors XSX over PS5 "because it is" better. But keep on rating over trailers and stuff.
He should have disqualified himself from answering as MS actually lets exclusives go on Steam whereas Sony does not. It's a conflict of interest.
I'm not a console person, but it seems clear that this is probably Microsoft's last console. They've failed to get enough exclusives to go along with their superior hardware.
Nope, both companies started putting their exclusives on Steam, that includes Sony games like Horizon and Death Stranding.
Tell me when God of War and Spiderman games make it
Spidey may be out by this Nov. and God of War perhaps by Dec? It is happening it is just when. So the rumor goes
Besides, when games release this generation that do reach people in an emotional way like Hellblade 2, Flight Simulator 2020 and Fable, all coming to both PC and Xbox consoles (among many others) I think gamers will reevaluate how effective the strategy is. This is a much larger pie than just the box.
Hmm. Do you feel like those three games will reach people in an emotional way?
Are you highly invested in MS stocks? Because the way you are speaking makes me think that is the case.
IMO, their strategy will only really work if they maintain the IPs and games that people are most drawn to. But it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Best Buy/Gamestop employees also don't work the way you think they do. If you are receiving advice on what to buy, they aren't going to advise you on what they think you should buy or what popular consensus is.
Chances are, they have a quota to push on something. If that thing isn't naturally selling, they will push you towards that thing if they can.
That also means that the console/games with more unsold stock is the one they would love to push you towards, btw.
Unless the Best Buy bro literally is your friend, he's not your friend.

Not always true, depends on the person. Most times if you ask their opinion they will give it, unless they don't care about their job. Selling something that isn't selling isn't any tactic they use, at least from what I've seen and been told. If anything it's getting people apply for credit for what they are buying, as well offer a warranty plan. At least that's how Bestbuy works.

I suppose that's true. Credit and warranties are the main push at any tech retail.
I was speaking more to Gamestop. Which is where these consoles would traditionally be sold. (But hey, Gamestop will probably go the way of the dodo during this generation).

Gamestop is currently in the process of rebranding itself in a few test markets. I think I heard they were going to become a place to hang out and play games, and sell more pop-culture items. Unless COVID kills them off completely I'm sure they will find a way to survive, just not the way they are now.
I'll consider revising my opinion of the conference if 1) Avowed offers a third person mode, 2) Fable doesn't suck ass like the previous Fables, and 3) PSO2 New Genesis (the best announcement of the conference) is good on release.

I see why PlayStation has more value to you, as you and I have very different taste in games. I couldn't care less about Persona or PSO2, so I have never needed to veer toward one platform over another to get the games I want. Support from Japanese RPG developers has always been a problem for Microsoft, for sure.

Exactly for me the Japanese games drives my choice.
I support all brands. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft and I like that they each offer different experiences.
But there is 1 thing I must point out.
1 PS5 or 1 Nintendo Switch game will cost you $60 + tax you looking at around $65 and then you still have to pay for online so that is even more $$$ that you have to pay.
For that $60 you can get 4 months of Microsoft's Game Pass Ultimate. That is Game Pass PC, Game Pass Console and Xbox Live all together. I think Game Pass Ultimate has close to 400 games available right now for you to download and play with new games coming every week. Also you are getting all of Xbox Studio games included. Fable, Avowed, Forza Motorsport, Flight Simulator, Hellblade 2 are all coming.
Game Pass is a Game Changer for Microsoft and right now business is booming going into next gen. Microsoft is playing chess, not checkers.
I mean look at PS Now with Sony. On your PC now you can play a ton of games many Sony games previously only available on the Sony Consoles. Like Sly Cooper, Spiderman, Ratchet and Clank, The Last of Us, Bloodborne all without a console. So even Sony sees the value in a Gamepass like service they just have not had as much success with it as MS has. Perhaps they will continue to build it out?
Wait, I thought a lot of there games were streaming only to PC and also required you to own a PS4. Which isn't exactly what I was referring to.

Agreed. I love my PS4 Pro, my Switch, my Xbox X, my iPad and my Gaming PC. I love games. If it is a game I want to play I play it. I have no problem playing the system it is available on. I admit because of work I am partial to the Xbox brand but I do enjoy my other systems as well. I have seen the market shift for a couple of years now and looking at the way consumers have shifted their focus a bit Microsoft is in a prime position to take advantage of what players want. Their numbers prove that they are on the right track.
Regardless of that, I will still buy both new consoles at launch. I have no real game I am looking forward to on the PS5 but I always buy all the consoles. I usually buy the Sony machine for the few single player games they make, some of which I enjoy, some I don't. The multiplatform and/or multiplayer games I play on Xbox or PC. The Switch is obviously for the Nintendo games. iPad for travel and not bothering my better half in bed. I love them all I just personally feel MS is in a better spot going forward in the industry than Sony. It is much more than just a console versus console theme.
I will be getting Series X for sure at release. My Game Pass Ultimate is already paid up through the year so all I have to do is buy the system, come home and log into Xbox Live.
PS5 I will probaly get sometimes later when the Sony's 1st party really gets going.
Oh, and I forgot that Microsoft recently announced that Project X Cloud will be free with Game Pass Ultimate.
All I will say about Flight Simulator 2020 is. WOW. This project is a thing of beauty. Asobo Studios did the rendering for this title ( they did Plague Tale) and wow what an achievement. The ability to scale this thing to a lesser system is great but with everything on ultra with a 2080 Ti it is near photo realistic. Astonishing work and as next gen as anything we have seen yet. It is also coming to Xbox Series X and will be on Gamepass. So excited for the future additions to this 'game' Love this series.
Yea, Flight Simulator looks amazing. I meant to say that Tell Me Why will be releasing next month so that one might be another game on the list. It is going to be a controversial game though so will just have to see.
