So the best thing about this: I started playing PSO2 with the Windows Store client. It took me about 3 days to get this running, had to tweak about everything on my computer. Then about 1 or 2 weeks later they released their first bigger patch and thanks to the patch my game broke and I wasn't able to play. Then I heard about the PSO tweaker program, installed it, game ran again. Next patch, game broke so hard that even PSO tweaker didn't work.
So I said to myself 'screw this, I'm done!'
Then I heard about the upcoming release on Steam and I was ready to give it another try. Downloaded and started the game and SURPRISE! To link your Windows Store account with your Steam account you have to start the Windows Store client and generate an activation key which you then have to use in your Steam client and there is NO OTHER way to do this.
This so ridiculous that I'm lost for words...
So you still have to go through the store, does that mean that you have to every time you log in on steam.
Nope you have to do it one time, you link the MS Store account to your Steam account and you should be fine. But if you're unlucky like me and can't get the MS Store client to start (which you have to, like I mentioned) then all you can do is start a completely new account on Steam. I'm not sure if I'm gonna do it. As of now I am so angry at this game that I just can't motivate myself to restart from scratch again.

I think Italy is probably region locked but I will continue with the Tweaker since I didn't have any issues after I started using it except when my antivirus put some of the files from Tweaker into the quarantine chest, stupid Avast or rather stupid me . I took it out and then it was fine. I then put an exception on them.
Tweaker thankfully has been good to me even though I hadn't played a whole month and when I launched and downloaded all the updates it worked fine today.

If it's working fine for you that would be a good idea, just go enjoy the game rather than switching. If you really want/need to switch I would wait till the genesis update next year when they upgrade the graphics.
All this in steam reminds me of when I started helping peeps get COH running when score/homecoming started the private server not long ago...that turned into an impromptu install guide thread with over 64k views...lol
Not doing that again as I ended quitting the game as I just ended up spending far too much time troubleshooting problems rather than playing...lol

I don't get why there was so much hype around an 8yr old game in the first place. So the moment it released in the west it was already outdated by nearly a decade. I wasn't hyped for it and don't plan on playing it.
100% THIS
I guess people are dying for anything new to play even an old game. The combat does look fun but that doesn't make up for the mostly bad grindy crap in the game. Its known as one of the most grindy mmo's on the market but you never here this from the fanboys. Over the years they have just kept adding more and more crappy things to the game and you have 8 years worth now. This is a hub based game not really open world like most mmo's too. Think Skyforge with this game.
Or people just have a different opinion and/or taste then you. Its not science.
/Cheers, Lahnmir
I think you don't have to understand the hype or why people play a game. There is no magical answer to why a game appeals to a person. That is why tastes are such beautiful things. It allows for diversity and opens up the genre to various types of games. Not every game needs to appeal to everyone and thank heavens for that. There's no need to question or hint that there is some ridicule involved in other people's taste and enjoyment because they are different from yours.
I read manga, manhwa and watch tonnes of anime every since I was very young. In Malaysia we used to get loads of anime with Malay subtitles, ever since my dad bought a TV I have been watching them. So I have a special place in my heart for anime. I adore this game because I get to be an anime character.
I am also lucky I found a class I could enjoy and perform with some competence since I suck at action oriented games. most of these games will not have a class I can play so this game has managed to make me feel like I am contributing in Urgent Quests and pulling my own weight. In fact almost every action game has no class I can play. In that respect this game has already exceeded my wishes.
As for the grind I agree there is a lot of it and I actually stopped playing for a month to avoid grinding for my pets and came back when they introduced an alternative method to obtain them. I think grinding is something you have to decide for yourself. There isn't a timetable for one to get an item or weapon or whatever, that requirement is self imposed and you should only do what you are comfortable with and quit when it becomes too much. When you place artificial time limits to get something it becomes a huge chore.
I found I was feeling awful when I was trying to grind for my pet so I quit promptly and just waited for the next season when I was able to obtain what I needed with less grind. It made me happier and I no longer resented the game for the grind. That was wholly my own fault.

i was reading Steam reviews and it seems everyone giving negative reviews on Steam is playing the W10 store version, not the steam version. I haven't encountered any of those problems on the Steam version using a Steam account, not a W10 linked account.

So it is back to them getting a bad review because of the Windows Store. Why are they review bombing when you don't need to use the store. Meanies.
So if we have never played the game, have no accounts with Microsoft, then we should be able to play the Steam version with no issue, or will there still be problems?

I didn't have a Microsoft store account, launched the game on steam and it asks you if you have a w10 account to link. Say no and move on, now you play with your steam account with no link whatsoever to w10 store. I haven't encountered any issue so far.

That's why I don't like to rely on those types of user reviews. They can be very misleading. One of them, on Steam, claimed the game doesn't have Xinput (xbox controller) support and you can't map the buttons. It does have xinput, and the whole game on Steam can be played with a xbox controller and you can remap keys on both controller and mouse+keyboard.

I think you are confused on how it works..both version are really the same, steam and the ms store one. It's how you log in that is different as one uses the ms store/xboxlive api.
Also if you wish to go from the ms store to steam you need to get a code in game from the ms version to apply to your steam account so your progress carries over, you need both versions of the game installed. After this you can remove the ms version.
Linking your account isn't really the issue here that I was talking about but rather how windows 10 has more issues with lots of games vs w7 when it comes to permission etc etc which is what most people are having issues with due to gameguard. Some people are not very PC tech savvy and have trouble with things like this and need hand holding on how to whitelist things in the AV and firewall etc etc and this seem much more important to know how to do in w10.
I saw the exact same shit in the COH private server..lol

Just means Windows 10 has better security against shitty software than Windows 7.
Unable to code without frustrating your user base. Anything that makes people employ a third party program like Tweaker to by pass Window's store has already lost that argument.
mmh.
80Gb later, i tried it but it completly confuse me at start.
i do some multiplayers missions but really, not for me.
i'll continue on monster hunter world without laser and loli

The vast number of problems people are having is not from any store front it is from Sega's rootkit installed in their game. Many have never had a single issue but rootkits can be finicky on all systems and storefronts. Yes there are Steam users having issues as well. Still a fun game though. I played it on Xbox X and Windows Store with Windows 10 and it is ran and played fine.
Again the GG rootkit is far more of an issue on w10 than the other OS. It's a fact that MS wanted to take away control from the user with w10, wanted to make certain things much more onerus for the average user to deal with which is what this GG rootkit is showing us.
It's pretty sucky when some users need to run the game from an admin account just to be able to play this game...lol

With literally a billion computers running Win 10 in 2020 it is a little silly to harp on the evils of Win 10 at this point. On the new insider build I can even access Android apps from the PC Win 10 is fine, the sky is not falling
Dunno where you get the sky is falling from my post or anything beyond I am not overly fond of w10 compared to 7?
I do however dislike the peeps that fail to see anything wrong with 10 cause "it's the bestest of the best of the best" and seem to think if you think anything else well you are harping or an old fart yelling get off my lawn or that the sky is falling dooom doom.
IMO it's better to remain objective and not hate or fanboy over things and try to see both the good and bad, pros and cons, they offer but yeah to each their own I guess!
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
Played it for 30+ hours and couldn’t enjoy at all. The whole game is a mess. Unclear directions, quests are confuse, combat texture doesn’t make sense and skill points are just useless to invest anything. Besides,
Whole hub is lag fest and graphic is ourdated.
Not recommended.
The game will be getting a large graphic overhaul in the next 12 months to modern standards. For the rest of the game, I am not sure what other things they will address as they launch a sister game that your char can jump between this game and the new one.
don't bother, he didn't play the game anywy half his complains are not even in the game
I played the game and I cannot play it after the base tutorial quest, right off the bat the movement controls are horrendous, why would you turn around and run away from a fight and start shooting back into the camera, same with right or left movement. I fully expected to move backwards so I could continue fighting while moving as a ranged attacker, turning left / right should have been a mouse movement not a physical character direction change.
I was expecting a 5-10 gig download. When I saw that it was almost 80 gigs, I passed. THere must be a ton of cutscenes and voice acting in this for that big of a download.

WOOT! Going back to play and get my 13* pets.
