New PC + 1 console this year (or whenever available).
Not sure what either will look like yet. Waiting to see AMDs lineup in Oct, but will almost certainly be going with a new ryzen + ?? either a 3080 or its AMD equiv depending on benchmarks. Also going to snag a 4k monitor finally I think the hardware is available to support gaming properly at that res without needing a TI.
As for console also not sure. I was going with PS5 for sure, until Microsoft acquired Bethesda. That has given me pause, combined with the value of game pass, and the potentially superior hardware (minus SSD) of the series X. Oof, too many tough decisions to be made!
I'm fully expecting to not get either before like spring of 2021 due to the high demand low supply combined with me not being much of a line-stander or page refresh spammer. I'll let the earliest adopters weed out the hardware problems anyway like the POSCAP/MLCC problems with the 3080s
Will get a PS5 if a couple of the 3rd party exclusives do not come to either of above. Would not pay $70 for base game price when I can just do gamepass and maybe miss out on a couple of games.
Going to support AMD this round as long as worst case their performance is somewhere between the 3070 and 3080. Nvidia has botched this launch all to hell.
It was totally a paper launch though they're pretending it wasn't. AMD says their launch won't be so...we'll see.
I've never needed the latest and greatest or trying to keep up with the Joneses. What I have now is fine. When it is no longer fine, then I look at other things. By then, they will be half the price and it will still be new to me.
Yeah, that sure is annoying. What's the point of "keeping up with the Joneses"? Some marketing trick?
i will wait until i can get a used ps5 for under 300$ thank you very much. my current netflix player (ps4) is doing fine
i will however purchase the Oculus Quest 2 cause VR is worth getting excited over.
i just dont understand how people can get excited about spending 600$ so they can pay an extra 100$ access fee a year (psn network) and be forced to spend 80$ a game to re-buy all the same games they already own because either: no backwards compatibility or nobody plays the 6 months old versions anymore.... madness.

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
