Just a remnant license. This company also used to hold licensing for Star Wars. Their new title will be based in EQ universe.

Your statement kinda suggests that it might be an active license..

If it's just a "remnant" license why not mention the Star Wars "remnant" license as well?
The same reason Planetside Arena, Everquest Next/Landmark is nowhere to be found. SWG got shut down.

The entire investor report tries to make the acquisition of Daybreak look like it was worth buying.

Even if the Marvel license is current they might be making a mobile battle royale or more likely they might be doing nothing with it.

Personally I think that Daybreak doing anything noteworthy with any game/IP they have is pie in the sky and a new game from them would probably be a laughable failure much like Planetside Arena.

I'm also expecting any story with relevance or actual games journalism to be broken over at MassivelyOP.

If they were just throwing out "Marvel "remnant" license" as something they may have once had(implied by Utinni) then why not throw out "Star Wars "remnant" license" in the same way on that page? Both owned by Disney so why not if it was just a whimsical investor lure?

Oh I agree with you. It probably is current. It's just crap reporting to make the title of the article say they have a Marvel license then go on to state you don't even know if it's current.

As far as them actually doing anything worth note with the Marvel license... well call me skeptical.

Are people still forgetting that Daybreak has no talent left to make good games anymore?

What licenses they have is completely irrelevant when you are incapable of making a good product.

"No talent left" in your alternate reality must mean that they're able to release expansions/dlc for DCUO, LOTRO, DDO, E2, EQ like they've been doing for years now... How is it possible to create any NEW content at a speed that keeps their paying players happy if they no longer have "talent"?
If keeping the lights on is a talent then they are extremely talented. Other than that I wonder if you have even played any of these games recently? Calling what they release "expansions" is being very generous.

I'm so glad you asked. I play LOTRO, DDO & EQ2 almost every day and DCUO once a week to raid with my league. I've purchased every single LOTRO & DDO expansion and actively subbed to both on their $9.99(3 month) plan. I also have the DBG $15 sub.

    How about you?

Mainly the TLP Aradune server we just got Velious and I have over 1000 hours in Planetside 2. Nothing they released impressed me much. The EQ expansions are cookie cutter 6 more zones I won't even pick up anymore. The bastion and shattered warpgate updates are both pretty underwhelming.

All the daybreak haters. Yet they have what close to half a million active users ? They seem to be a very profitable company which is the goal of any business and if any of you owned it that would your goal also.

Considering Everquest alone used to have half a million and now that's their entire portfolio of games... It's not exactly a surprise the only time we get any numbers is from an investors report.

Cool. So the next Marvel game is going to suck too.

How did we end up in a universe in which the only good Marvel games are singleplayer Spiderman games, while all of the multiplayer ones are exclusively comprised of virtual waterboarding devices?

I was going to write that, word for word (cept for the waterboarding bit. I would have used the proper superhero term of "skimming.") I guess I don't have to now. Odd. Well, uhm, I guess I'll go back to lurking so I don't make this more akward. o.o

LOTRO lifetime membership since August 2007. Their latest "Expansion" should have been free content and the game has been garbage for years. New currency, same fetch quests, same grind for legendaries, same skirmishes/Big Battles/repeatable instances. Only thing I haven't done in a long time is raids.

Usually about 1k people concurrently on their most populous servers. The hype for Legendary servers seemed to have died pretty quickly, I never hear anything about that anymore.

The best thing they did was make the 64-bit client, and keep the lights on imo. They haven't changed anything for the better, just kept it all the same.

but your not sure it's even current...

Did you even try to talk to anyone at Daybreak or is this just some of the stellar "games journalism" we should expect around here?
I have to say this is standard for "journalism" now, you check nothing compared to how thorough they used to be and that includes all news. If a public figure has said something on Twitter it is quotable without clarification and can be the basis for a news item. It is quite ridiculous to call that journalism.
