Ads mute audio on mobile

I was listening to an audiobook on my phone (iPhone SE and Safari) and decided to check the MMORPG.com forums while listening. The ad that pops up at the bottom mutes whatever other audio my phone is playing even though the ad itself is muted. Even if I switch back to my audiobook and press play, as soon as I switch back to MMORPG.com it gets muted again. The mobile version of this site needs some serious work. I set my phone to request the desktop version because that one has a better layout and doesn't have this issue and doesn't even drain my battery life as much.
