Stillfront acquired them , really should be a fairly quiet transition , will not effect players at all imo . Albion will be a small part of there current stable , and the dev will be left in place to continue there work ...
I'd still wait for the upcoming sandbox called "Fractured" a U.S based MMO that hopefully won't have a bad launch like Albion Online did, and real customer service.
I'd kinda say Crow Fall, but tbh im kinda disappointed with Crow Fall right now, the character models are decent, but not what I thought they would be we'll see how the game goes but many are saying it's a failure already );.
Albion Online is a full loot PvP right? Amazing it's dong so well.
I read online somewhere a theory that their 'gold market' is essentially currency creation/manipulation and that everything else the game offers is just cover for that scheme. After years of playing the game and enjoying it enough to max out(100+) skills for a few characters I was 50/50 on believing what was written cause I had lots of fun with it and biased because of my experience.
Who really knows why someone would buy a ftp app game for 100 million when like you said @cheyane full loot pvp games in the past haven't been known as big earners. When I saw that 100mil price it kind of made that 'theory' seem a bit more plausible though.
Top guilds are all whales and if they want to maintain top ranks must continue whaling for either pvp & economy control or both. That is common knowledge to anyone who has played the game for any reasonable length of time. If the amount of gold that is bought by X number of whales is enough to control the entire game then it is really one of the most hardcore p2w MMO scenarios out there. That stuff doesn't really take away from the average joe gamer experience cause they operate on different levels and the game still offers quite a lot to those not interested in ultimate power.
I sort of like that animated style, I think of it as claymation, that Albion Online & Crowfall have, but I have no interest in full PvP with little PvE.

The full loot system is not a big deal. You don't walk around in your best gear you walk around in the worst you can get by in. On top of that like someone else already said the game is p2w heavy. Most of the top tier guilds will just swipe a credit card to pay for your regears.
The problem with the game is the pvp is just trash. You take mage ball tactics from 15 years ago and dumb it down. Guild sprints in and presses (E) then runs away over and over and over again. If that's to complex for you then you just take 5 to 10 guys out to kill a single guy who is wearing gathering/crafting gear lol.
And while the numbers thrown around like 12 million a year or over 100 million buyout sound good. But it just shows how poorly they were doing compared to other titles on the market. Case in point the cost to produce Genshin impact and how much it made within the first month of it's release. Also consider the fact that Stillfront paid more for a mobile word and trivia game company then they appeared to paid to buy up the company that built albion online.
