After I watched a couple of streamers play the game, I was hooked. I broke my own rule of "never buy early access." I'm having a blast after a rocky start: I missed the message or some such that advised me to use my [tab] key to access my inventory and crafting

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR
I'm tempted to try this game but I'm sure if I played it solo I would lose interest quickly. I don't have any friends who want to play it. If I understand correctly it's possible to join other peoples games but how does that work out?

Have any of you tried that?
I played it solo since last august when I got in beta, it all depends on the individual I guess. There is alot to do even after killing the bosses if you enjoy terra forming and building. And at $20 it is well worth the experience IMHO.
As far as the co-op goes they are all private dedicated servers, there are no official ones where anyone can join. The Valheim discord had a lfg channel where you could go and seek servers that will let people play on them though.
Not paying full price for something that isn’t fully complete
For $20 its far more complete than any other EA game I bought.
It is completely doing VERY little that's why. What do you call complete for a survival game,no mounts,no ship building,no crew,no tames other than in a pen,not much in way of water zones if at all.
VERY little zaxis, pretty much 99% of combat is on the ground. The building mechanics are weak, the bed mechanics are just dumb.
Creatures are ..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz boring and imo don't even look good, spawns and AI is weak.
Terraforming is half assed ,not nearly what i want from terraforming.
What does it do good>>>nothing.Average crafting and everything else is sub par.It is not worth $20 because you could buy Atlas at one time for $11 and still the same price at 20 but you can do a hell of a lot more including running your own server with way more settings. This is just sub par on most every level of design.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Even if you don't like Atlas and i understand WHY ,go play Ark then the devs seem to favor Ark for developing and is 100x the game Valheim ever will be.

Seems like we have to send Wizardry to the Greyling Rehabilitation Institute too. Maybe him and remsleep can share a cell err room.
Wizardry how about you play and gush over the games you want to play and I will do the same with the ones I want to (which wont be ark/atlas), especially in my own damn thread.
Why is he even trying to compare a game that started development in 2014 and fully released (with bugs and all) in 2017 to a game that has only been out in EA for a month.

I remember buying some viking game that looked very similar to this because of the article.
However, if this is a completely different game I'll check it out.

I am starting to think we need to send remsleep to the Greyling Rehabilitation Institute.
