"Do you have games installed or on tap to play at a moment's notice when a game or genre burn you out?"
I do, but no burnout for me, since I game hop
Rotate my main games, 1-2 months a time, mixed my secondary games inbetween when there's something fun there.
It's working for me so far - which means more than a decade now, actually.
I believe it depends on playstyle (so, subjective), for me the 1-2 months used the be the comfortable timeframe to spend in one game and could hop onto the next one with anticipation and not due to necessity and/or burnout.
Events used to be a nice guideline as well, currently I'm in CO chasing Foxbat, and I'm already building up the anticipation for the next hop - LotRO's Anniversary starts next week.
I like to rotate because I like being exposed to more games.....I feel I can give an opinion by playing more games......If I only played one mMO for hte last 20 years, then I wouldn't have a working knowledge of so many others.....It's nice to know the strengths and weaknesses of varying games.....
Masterchief time... I load up and play me some Halo singleplayer games.
If Halo:Foward Unto Dawn (live action movie set after the events of Halo 3, before Halo 4) is free on Netflix or Prime... give it a watch... not a bad flick. Worth a $3 rental IMO if you have $.
I'm so backlogged on awesome games (I own and haven't started), it's not a problem these days.
Is PoE my main game or is my backup game as i skip seasons here and there while i play other things.
I guess my backup game is project entropia as the game makes me money even when im not playing it and it is always there and when i have to do some menial task on computer i can play that.

Here's the thing. It has always been WoW. When WoW Classic came out, that was it for me. I hung up retail and never looked back. WoW Classic is like home. My favorite expansion is the Burning Crusade. But then Blizzard managed to destroy any enthusiasm I had for the game by offering character boosts for TBC! Are you kidding me? Classic is now becoming Retail. I need a new or an old game to give me that connected feeling again. My man and I have not played a game since they announced TBC will have boosts. Those boosts will give decent gear, a mount, money, and other perks. We are gamers and WoW has always been the game we gone back too. What happens when that comfy game crushes joy for gaming.
You are a funny guy! 'Oh noes blizz killed mah game' ' lets play the reboot' 'oh noes the reboot is following the same schedule as my main game' 'oh noes i hate wow' ' oh my. there's a new reboot' 'oh they killed mah reboot again' what am i gonna do

Here's a tip: don't get stuck in your overromantisized past!
