How is the combat in Genshin Impact?

MightyUncleanMightyUnclean Member EpicPosts: 3,531
For those of you who have played Genshin Impact, how is the combat?  Is it very twitchy and does it rely heavily on timing and reflexes?  Is it similar to Breath of the Wild?  Do you have to master the combat style of several different characters?

Thanks!

Not really twitchy. It is kind of button mashy but you have only a few buttons to really worry about. The real complexity comes from building your team and switching them in and out.

You do have to dodge a bit, but basically if you can handle Zelda,  you shouldn't have any issues with Genshin combat.

The hardest part is using elemental combos by switching in and out characters which isn't even that hard at all. You pick whichever character you want and focus that one on dps then the other ones in the party are only used for their abilities before switching back to the main dps character. That's how I play it anyways.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Totally agree with this. The action is pretty simple, almost musou-like (if you're familiar with those types of games) and while there are basic combos, it's nothing too technical. It's not Devil May Cry-level.

Team composition is where it's at and you can do a whole lot with a good healer like Kokomi. And I think this is why the characters are gotten through the gacha system. It's what will make you come back.

If you're interested in Genshin, Tower of Fantasy is also a good alternative.

It gets old with the switching characters in and out to get that extra damage and frankly some of the characters have lots of power hidden behind the extra $$$ banners.

Need to keep in mind this is a gotcha game and to truly max out the power of characters you need to roll them more than once on the banners.

You do have to learn different characters as some are better than other for certain bosses and then it also required the "right team" to really max out power too.

It is action combat and can be a little twitchy but mostly requires you being able to dodge stuff. kill stuff or destroy things within a limited timeframe and be quick at the switching character in and out to get the bonus benefits of w/e buff or debuff they give.  You also need to run certain things on certain days if you trying to upgade xy or z and other stupid requirements like that.
