Kira put out a new video about the history of another failed Kickstarter MMO you may not have heard of, Oath. A familiar tale at this point, but maybe worth watching as yet another warning about crowdfunded MMOs.
Meh, I've long since learned my lesson about crowd funding MMOs, no need for yet another example as the current ones are more than entertaining enough.

It's high risk for sure. Mmorpg development are true kickstarters. They cannot be funded by the public alone and required additional investors. Massive buyer beware of course. I've only backed 1, am 'sort of' sure it will release eventually, but only threw minimal money at it and only because it was from someone with some sort of respectable history in game development.
That said, they are actually no more risky than normal development. Many mmos have been cancelled. Many projects were cancelled before they even hit the light of day in the eyes of the public. Everything is a risk, to abandon indie development, is to abandon any chance of advancements in mmo design and concept.
Will Camelot Unchained ever launch? I have no idea, but it's the ONLY company on the planet who has developed an mmo engine capable of performing to it's design concept. No corporate run developer will ever take that risk.
Will Pantheon every launch? I have no idea, but no other developer is trying to capture and expand the core elements of fantasy mmorpg game play like they are. They are taking a risk no major developer is willing to take.
It's a dangerous slope to abandon indie development. The very reason why they reached out to crowd funding is because the industry closed nearly all access to competition. To support the current industry status quo, is far more detrimental to the health of gaming than taking risks.
Crowdfunding wasn't a perfect fit, but now many more options will indie development get in the future when every door is actively being closed for them due to the stranglehold corporatized development has over the industry?
Kiar knows his audience. He gets more views with negative content. He has been spending more time game bashing weather they deserve it or not. Even making things up. Last New World video he claimed they won't have mounts so you will be forced to buy Azoth in the cash shop so you can fast travel. I have blocked his content on YouTube.

NW will not have mounts at release. They have talked about adding them in the future but at the same time mentioned that they think the world is not large enough yet to warrant mounts so it sounds like far future.
Kira's not wrong about the no mount part,

Kira's not wrong about the no mount part,
Nice to hear they are aware of the concept of the shrinking world due to fast travel at least.

The lie was the reason. To sell Azoth, the in game resource you need to fast travel. Was not in the alpha cash shop nor has that been mentioned by the studio. Kiar was just ranting and I used to be a fan of his. But his content is getting filled with more and more shade.

3rd paragraph talking about future QOL maybes: "rested XP and fast travel."
So he also didn't make that up unless you think Amazon is talking about fast travel without azoth which, I suppose, is possible.
The only commitment they have made about the cash shop is only cosmetics in 2021 - all 4 months of it post launch and they've left it wide open after that.
I get that Kira might seem too negative for those enamored with the things he's negative about and by all means, watch and block whatever content you want but I personally think he's one of the better streamers and has a good balance between positives and negatives.

I still stand by what I wrote then that this was a student project. The law doesn't care about video game fraud so he used the crowdfunding to pay off some debt. It's most likely a similar scenario to DreamWorld. When you can make 100k to pay off some credit cards + will never be punished for it then why not??
I also mention in that thread that I searched for that company where they said they were located and it did not exist.
I also also mentioned in that thread that the 'devs' never revealed their real names or who was working for their fake company.
One thing KiraTV said though isn't entirely accurate which is
"One person can't deliver this MMO"
If it was a legit MMO that was actually being developed with plans to be released then one person could do it but that isn't the vibe they EVER gave. Never revealing their real names was red flag #1.
Here's a very similar looking cutesy MMO made by two people
