Crowfall testing auto leveling to 25 for subscribers

Just in case the few hours were too long to level to the cap:

  • Added a Level-up Specialist Pedestal for VIP players to instantly reach level 25 on new characters

Part of me understands why... the leveling process was so short anyway that it adds little, but each new announcement just seems to take us closer to the Battle Royale mode...

Well, unless of course their plan is to significantly decrease the leveling speed overall just before launch.

Then it will make even more sense.

If the levelling is that quick, you have to ask why have a way to bypass it? I can't see them suddenly making the levelling harder, too close to launch, but this is MMO-land, anything is possible.

Probably to make VIP sub seem valuable.

Not gonna lie.  As a small guild this is helpful so we can quickly get some alternate crafters/harvesters. Also, the starting worlds have some bottlenecks  where quest mobs don’t quickly respawn because they haven’t been looted and skinned. It could be messy with more than a handful of players. This will mean less people out competing for those mobs

Hmm, it is even possible the bottlenecks are there to encourage VIP. Being B2P is a plus to me as subscription only is virtually gone and the dreadful F2P is seen as the only other option. This does hasten the BR aspect, one way to have avoided might have been to only allow this a limited number of times. What I am more sure of is that while this might give you a leg up against large "B2P only" guilds, guess what the large guilds who are happy to VIP will be doing. That's an arms race only whales can win.

Well I will never, ever consider a subscriber a "whale".

But what I meant was that since we are small and there are 14 or so harvesting and crafting careers, we can level a PvP character and then instantly have 2-3 crafters and harvesters each.

It's kind of cheap but the leveling was a joke anyway (just a few hours to level 30 with no help).  Combined with the unlimited free respecs for VIP I may only ever level 1 character through that New Player Experience starter world.

The real progression involves performing actual harvesting and crafting loops which have a chance to drop green versions of the Disciplines (then 3 more can be combined to make a blue, 3 blue to make a purple, 3 purple to make an Orange).  So plenty of grinding left in the game.  Just no need to take my Armorsmith or Alchemist out to level against mobs.

I was thinking about what is paid for above and beyond a subscription, a whale will naturally get a sub, but beyond that goes straight to the cash shop where the arms race begins. Keep us posted on how it is going.

Is this not just admitting there is no real adventure to the game and so they aree just vaulting you right to end game pvp?
The laughable and sad at the same time part is they treat this like "you can only get this if you pay us"lol.

Yes because removing what little of the ride i have to enjoy should be something i pay you for lol.
If all your going to do is just jump right in to end game pvp what was the point of waiting all this time to build a game? They could have just built a BR in a big box been done in one year, saved loads of money and time.

If the leveling was too short then why is anyone supporting this game?Like the whole mentality makes ZERO sense.

I'll repeat what i said earlier,IF it was too short and seemingly nobody cares ,WHY BOTHER to make the game in the first place?
If there is too little substance to the game then get off your ass and add more adventure, more content,i mean geesh  this is a game they could have whipped off in 1-2 years max. They could have just outsourced it  and got mroe GAME in 2 years.

This gam has been ongoing for more than 5 years WTF !! What to deliver a VERY sub par half assed game, just a pvp in a box like a drive through fast food joint?Umm yes i'd like to order 5 pieces of chicken and some fries.....ok that'll take 5 years sir, please pull over to the curb and someone will bring your order.

Obviously this game isn't for me. I like the RPG aspects, building your character as he progresses, exploring the world, etc. The journey is the most of the game to me.

Once I hit max level, I'm more likely to start an alt, try a different build, do the journey again differently if possible.

This looks more like Fortnite, with a tiny preamble tacked on. And now you can just pay to skip the preamble.

This is mainly for the people that have already been playing this game for a bit and don't want to deal with the task of leveling up, since they have done that already many times over.

This is what to expect with a game that already has an established player base.

The starter world 1-30 leveling part of the game is basically just a tutorial. The real character progression comes after that.

Yeah the levelling isn't a part of this games progression. You just want to do it to get used to the game, and your build. But its skippable. There are minor upgrades from levelling after level 30, but its pretty flat in terms of power curves and takes a while as well.

Progression is the social aspect, crafting and gear (which degrades with no repair = economy), skill in combat (high skill cap), working towards objectives and goals, and ultimately trying to do well in campaigns for rewards, cosmetic or utility, for your character and your player world that you own and others can visit.

It's a game more like Albion or EVE. Gameplay loop is satisfying. It released since that is there, but there will be plenty of stuff in the future, game will hang around. No predictions on speed or other things, but the game is promising. Marketing will only help, which is something they said they'll do progressively.

Generally people purchase games that provide what they want.

If the game chosen has minimal PvE it isn't because the buyer wants one with an abundance of it. If the game chosen is primarily about PvP the buyer will want to get to that with minimal delay.

It makes perfect sense when people don't assume their own game preferences are shared by everyone else.

Some games aren't about you and what you want.
