Heck one guy even point blank said he had a guild of 400-500 players that would be there on day 1.
That was me, by the way, my guild has 493 active members, and my guild has in fact been active since day one, we commonly have around 75 - `100 active players on at any given time. If you somehow thought we were would all be on at the same time, paying 24/7 together, as opposed to spread out across various timezones, that was your own naive' foolish delusions.
Your supposed 100 players on “at any given time” doesn’t ring true at all unless your GM just stood around and spam invited every random unguided person that logged in.
I just logged in.. 77 Active mambers.
Spare your pathetic pitiful cries about what my Guild does and does bring to the table, I might check again before I go to bed, just to see.
Also, I suppose in a venture that you could never imagine, my guild is actually led by a group of people, not one grand standing soloist that thinks they have to do everything themselves. Treating people like equals in a leadership no doubt is something I wager you can't grasp, so I won't waste time trying to explain it.
As far as what some guilds can and do bring to the table, there were guilds in GW2's WvW that made up over 20% of the Servers WvW player base, sometimes even more than that.
Also.. 100 out of 3,000 is 3% not 10%, can you at least math right when you make cries like this?
LOL... did I say 10% of the population on all servers or YOUR server? 3000 was the total population on ALL SERVERS. I gave you the benefit of the doubt and assumed that your magical server was the same as your magical guild and was the highest so I gave it 1000 players, of which your "100" would be 10%.
So again, reality is calling. The servers all show as LIGHT POPULATION at 10PM on Friday after launch. You literally said there would be "hundreds of thousands" of NEW players at launch. They still coming?
LOL

This mmo could've been good in the 00s to early 10s, but now they just released an already outdated game. Why would anyone go from games like BDO or FFXIV to this?
Also, a quick look at blade&soul will show you what happens to PvP focused mmos. Literally the most toxic garbage community out there. At least b&s looks nice. Crowfall was released as a moldy potato doomed to be thrown away once the owners realize.
Idc about numbers. There could 100 million concurrent users, why would i care,i pick games i want to play, end of story.
I don't want to confuse bad game design with a game design that just doesn't appeal to me but imo this game is both a bad game and a design that does not appeal to me.
I ALWAYS look at game ideas and decide if there is already games doing them better. This games entire design is just second rate when even other low budget games are doing some ideas better.
IMO this game might as well just be a BR ,saved loads of time and cost and likely would have had the same player base.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I am also a bit concerned.
They said they are taking it slow, still marketing emails where sent to all registered users.
Still there are low population numbers on all servers.
On the other side SOLO had to open up new servers at launch day. Something you can observe at nearly every launch nowadays, even at games which now have barely anyone playing anymore.
Not having this at release is a really bad sign.
And regarding Albion, ESO and other games which had a bad start but got better numbers over time.
They still had a lot of players at the release week, they only lost most after a short time and then recovered.
Having bad numbers from the beginning is really bad, because it tells you that no one cares.
PS: here are the live screenshots of population around 9PM on Friday after launch day. "Foolish Delusions" indeed...
pardon my ignorance but where are the actual pop numbers in those images?
They removed the "numbers" a few days ago, now they just show "LIGHT" for all the servers, but the actual pop numbers can be found in Discord and are shown in the post above yours

I have been watching this for what it feels like most of my adult life lol...when it was announced in the PvP-only boom it was going to be epic. Was. Now, while the lore is awesome, the races are well done, and the classes unique enough...it just is meh.
too bad..use the lore though and franchise this world stat a maybe an open world(s) RPG or TPA game. you can recoup the lost years of your life with that plan.
How many different types of gameplay servers are they running? I did mention this in the last thread, they need to stick to one type of gameplay server until the number go up?
Also we have had MMOs launch to lukewarm numbers before, I would wait for a couple of months in before you can get a true picture. Look at the way AO picked up for example.
One thing I see going for the game is the flexible servers. They seem to be running scalably off Amazon Web Services. Whenever you want to visit your home instance, it takes around 30 seconds for it to initially spin up your allocated server instance. Then you can go in/out instantly while it's running. This should mean their expenses are more predictable per active player. The limited campaigns are also predictable to an extent.
So in my mind this is the kind of game that could comfortably sit on life support for a while.
My main question is - they likely had financial pressures to release this summer. Either to hope for a company buy out or to start generating sales. It doesn't scream like an environment where the company is cool with continually developing a game at the same pace for years to come (unless the launch is a major hit).
You can definitely have slow burners. Many community driven games have done it. But given the state of Crowfall, it needs at least the same cadence of development as we've seen so far. And financially, that might not be in the cards.
Their next bet may be putting their resources towards a Steam / console release. ESO has done very well on consoles, so that might boost the player numbers.
would love to check the game out but at 40 bucks gonna need to see a few positive reviews and a good bit of compelling video, plus the semi persistant state of the world(s) is a slight negative from the get go.
I am sure I am not the only potential player that is going in this direction.
They need interesting PvE too. I think a game cannot just do PvP because there are shooters and other games that already have that. You need to have an interesting PvE and PvP together to get more players interested. They should not also split up the population too much ending up in the available players being too scattered.
Yeah this game is going to be dead. I bought the game. FIrst I lost all my gear because I went to another game mode. The popup told my gear will be put into bank, but no gear in bank. After reaching max level I learned you can't really respec you character. So now either I pay them extra and get vip to get free respec or pay sh#t tons of gold to respec my character. Look the issue clearly aint only low player number, but also game design itself. Major features, like respec, are gated behind paywall.
I'll give you another update when I get home from work, some of us have lives and can't play 24/7 to appease you need bolster numbers just you can sell off your KS founder items.

Let see... actual server numbers from the minute you posted this:
So again, what server are those "63" playing on? If it's a US server then you guys make up over 50% of the highest population server. 100% of the other US servers. Man you guys should dominate!
But, lest we forget the greater picture... where are the "hundreds of thousands" of new players you assured us were waiting to join the game at launch? They still on the way?

Ironically and sadly a 13 year old PvP game in Aion is pulling in a large amount of players on the new Classic servers ,and a brand new game can only muster this ...
Crowfall does not even put itself in an MMO converstaion with these numbers..
This looks kind of bad. Do you think they might shutter it soon. Nowadays no room for low performing games. It is more productive to shut down the game if it saves them money in the long run. Wonder what they will do?
People are always clamouring for PvP games but they don't seem to really want to play them when they do make them. The populations always end up lower than what an even poor PvE games manages. PvP players do not come out to support the production of more PvP games. It behoves a PvP player who wants more PvP games to be made to support these efforts. How can you expect developers to make more PvP games if you don't support them.
As a PvE gamer I try to check out every PvE game to see if I might like it. Perhaps it is easier to make a mediocre PvE game and achieve some success than to make a mediocre PvP game and achieve similar results. So PvP gamers have higher standards
Guys can we calm down please, only two pages and it is getting a bit heated.
Not heated at all. Just posting actual server numbers that are publicly available. If that pisses someone off, well, that's on them.
If you are goin to say things like "foolish delusions", or not even read the article and talk about "math fails", then I guess FACTS could be considered heated...
But let's face it, we know that people get emotionally tied to "their game" and lose objectivity. It happens in every game. Luckily, we have the actual server numbers to discuss.

Not really. Right now most PVP players are in EVE, Albion or BDO (or just in the PVP modes of the bigger themeparks out there, say playing GW2 WvW or ESO Cyrodiil). All these three games (EVE, AO, BDO) have a respectable amount of players - higher than, say, Project:Gorgon or Riders of Icarus. If another PVP game wants to thrive, it still needs to offer as good an experience or better than them.
My take is that Crowfall’s issues are related to a long running hypothesis about Crowdfunded MMORPGs: The more money they raise during Crowdfunding, the less “new” players that will try it at launch. If the 80,000 account holders had all bought the game and jumped in at launch for the first time, we’d be discussing a huge hit with crowded servers and posts asking for more to open. Instead, those 80k have had access to the game for years. The game just lost its appeal for those folks over the years. So we end up with 3% of those players, actually playing at peak time, and no big influx of new folks at launch. Sadly, exactly as was predicted.
Can they turn it around? Doubtful but there’s always a chance. They can get an actual Faction PvP server up for the folks that don’t want to sit in the training servers yet want something RvR based instead of the Dregs. Will people come play? I dunno but so far in the Dregs it’s mostly just the 1000 hardcore folks that formed the Ivory tower. They need to try something…. Fast.
PS: Don't forget the most likely scenario. They soon turn their attention to the 12 team, 5 person Battle Royale mode.
