You'd get raytracing and DLSS, but the video cards are about the same speed otherwise. Not really an upgrade apart from the RTX stuff.

My idea of perfect gaming is 1080p, 60fps at High/Ultra settings. I bought a GTX 1080 STRIX back around 2016. It has been an amazing card for gaming and is still my daily driver. Stable OC. No complaints at all tbh. I've slowly upgraded my system over the years but never felt the need to upgrade my GPU until now. I'm not bothered about being at the bleeding edge as I'm more at home on patientgamers. Mainly mod Skyrim, Fallout 4 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R until they break.

But I have noticed that I'm hitting a ceiling with more modern games. My 1080 struggles with Cyberpunk 2077. I'd love to have bigger battles on M&B Bannerlord. Also want to hit 60fps in the end game of X4 Foundations.

And with future games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 or Starfield I'm worried I'll be pushing the capabilities of the 1080 (especially with mods). And it goes without saying I'd like to add another 500 mods to Skyrim.

I'm not bothered about 4k or raytracing (but would be nice to play games that require it like Metro Exodus Enhanced). Just looking for a newer GPU that will be comfortable playing modern (and future) games at 1080p, 60 FPS on High/Ultra. Nvidia or AMD cards welcome.

Is a 2080ti undershooting? Or would an AMD card be better? Any suggestions?

A potent graphics card, the PNY GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FE 11GB was introduced in 2017. Even though it is getting older, it is still a fine card for gaming. You must look at more recent cards if you want a major upgrade.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is a good choice if you're on a tight budget. Though it is more cheap than the other cards on the list, it is a huge improvement over the PNY GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FE 11GB.
