As Sorvath said it's the title that will ruin it, it's actually a pretty good game.
Doesn't the title of the article (one million registered players, or 70k concurrent as some posters pointed out) mean they are past the initial "title will ruin it" hurdle? If they cannot keep those players and retain momentum that's on the game, not the title. If they can, good on them.
I think the title will still keep many away and still have many refer to the game poorly based on the previous version. If 1 million downloaded it could it not have been more?
And as we all know, 1 million downloads only mean 1 million people tried the game (or intended to try it).
Keeping the players that are playing now is on the game and as I said above, I think once people hit cap and play through everything several times it will be difficult to keep them unless the company can update with new content asap.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Are we pretending that a million downloads of a free game is some kind of accomplishment? People who are bored and broke will play just about anything that looks pretty.

I know a handful of folks who still play WOW and couple guilds looking for players! I will find way back to GW2 for EXPAC, FF14 i start falling asleep, ESO animation clipping should not be standard to combat system it's not clean at all.

I am not doubting some players will stay away due to the title. I am doubting that if the game does badly, it will be due to the title.
70k concurrent players on Steam, plus ?? concurrent players from their platform should amount to a good chunk of this 1mil downloads, so it seems that at least for now lots of those downloads stick around.
I agree that keeping these players in the long run seems to be the bet at this point.
I guess what I'm saying, and I'm not disagreeing with you, is that in order for the game (any game) to do well it needs to find its audience.
I think part of that audience will stay away and that of the "1 million" people who downloaded it, only a subset will stay because of the gameplay.
Given that, in my opinion, the real draw of this new title are the arena fights and boss battles (it seems the game hints at another thing but I haven't seen it yet - invasions? something?) a greater amount of people will be needed to keep that going.
I just wonder if they will get enough people to sustain it who would be willing to give the game a try.

Let's be honest the only reason ppl are dling it is becausde theres nothing else to play come sep that game is dead
Nothing else to play?
Really?
There's a multitude of games out there that people play every day. I personally rotate many games, as I suspect many others do as well, because there are so many games I've followed for years. Bless Unleashed is a very fun game to play! I've been playing it since it launched and I'm having a great time with it. I don't base my decisions to play a game on the amount of noise others enjoy making. So, while they continue to scream, those of us who enjoy the game will continue to play it.
This is down to most players now wanting to play anything fashionable new, if the game works for you great. But I would question what a player base that rotates games and follows fashion is doing to the gaming industry. To me it creates a climate in which we get shallow, front loaded solo games no one is meant to finish or in MMOland and Co-Op ones we stay in for no more than a few months.
Rotating games isn't equal to "following fashion" as you put it. It's virtually impossible to play 10 games at the exact same time, so I spend time in each of them as I see fit, which is what I've done for many years. I have NEVER cared about following trends or doing what is considered fashionable, so your statement doesn't apply to me.
A bit of out of context sorry but if one you fine people whom I have had the pleasure to get somehow acquainted over the years could guide this humble soul and make direct instructions for I, the old nag, should get into this game or not, I would much appreciate it.
Ehm, no you are not having a deja vu, this is a different game. Cheerio!

These are two separate processes 'followers of fashion" started way back, it has just become far more prevalent with social media. Those who rotate games came later, the term "butterflies" was coined to describe that change in playstyles, but being one does not mean you must part of the other.

I'm only trying it while waiting for New World due to the delay.
I found my personal highlights were the World / Area Bosses. Moves were telegraphed good enough and it was fun seeing that many people coming together. Also enjoyed the hidden chest exploration, you get hints when close to them and every 4 you turn in for increased bag space at someone in the city.
The UI is probably the worst part with weird in game choices for navigating windows. Background noises didn't appear exactly appropriate with too much 'noise' for my liking.
Those aside, it is "Free" and actually not bad. Am I gonna say its a high tier MMO, definitely not. Is it better than many other Bad ones, yes.
