Christina Gonzalez and MMORPG.com are completely wrong on server launch times...

West coast NA servers DO NOT open at 5am PDT, they open at 8am PDT, while East coast servers open at 8am EDT (5am PDT)

West coast players cannot play on west coast servers at 5am PDT. Again, west coast servers do not open until 8am PDT. Thus, if they wish to play at 5am PDT they will have to log into East Coast servers.

Both East Coast and West Coast servers open at 8am in their respective time zones. That is 8am EDT for East Coast servers and 8am PDT for West Coast servers. Therefore, East coast server players will have a three hour head start on west coast server players.

Yes, this is absolutely stupid. Somehow Amazon Games Studio managed to mess up the most fundamental parts of an MMO release.

In addition to the idiotic staggered release schedule is that character names are GLOBAL not regional. Meaning that when the EU servers open up, every name taken will be locked globally, so when the NA servers open any names taken in EU will be unavailable in NA.

Kind of a failure of Christina Gonzalez and mmorpg.com to not cover this as it is very relevant.

However, the true failure is the idiotic plan for servers launch by AGS. Staggered launch times together with globally locked character names. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

    Welcome to the forums! :)

If the press release was wrong it is hardly Christina's fault is it?

Never try to argue rationality or common sense to random strangers on the internet.

BURN THE WITCH!!! I say. >:)

Nor is is possible to explain to mindless fanboi's when their Lord's statement is incorrect.

The press release was correct, Christina misread and did not verify it.

I hope very much that this bombs so hard; not because I dislike Amazon or New World, but because this needs to be a cautionary tale that proves money alone cannot make a quality video game.

Amazon needs to keep to it's own lane and stick to what they are good at, otherwise, it's just going to re-signal other wealthy businesses or people that it's okay to do this.

Video game creation deserves more respect then this, it shouldn't be something treated merely as a commodity.

That is an absurd statement and terrible thing to hope for.

There are a lot of very talented people working on the game, and in you ignorant arrogance you are hoping they lose their jobs when the game fails.

Yes, the decision makers at AGS are bad, but that is true for almost all game companies. For whatever reason, competent leadership is very rare in the gaming industry. However, the people doing the REAL WORK (i.e. the artists, the coders, the animators) are extrememly talented people (who would prefer the game not fail so they can keep their job.

    Ignorant ass.

While I agree with what you said about us not needing a "cautionary tale" when it comes to NW it serves no purpose to call people ignorant and so on.

    I respectfully disagree...

I believe that calling for a project to fail that is funded by a multi-billion dollar mega-corporation that will never notice the loss (actually will probably write it off),

while ignoring the fact that there are real people, who work hard and most have families to care for, will lose their jobs in an uncertain and unstable pandemic world...

is the very definition of ignorant.

Well SWTOR was done by Electronic Arts and one cannot call that a runaway success either. We'll have to wait and see how this pans out. I bought SWTOR and I loved the stories. I don't think I'll be playing New World because I am quite useless at these types of combat that requires me to act swiftly. I am a little too old for this type of mouse and KB action.

I did play Black Desert but I was only playing it for the farming , trading, horse breeding and especially for my worker empire. I could not really handle the combat. It was really too much for me. My hand would hurt after a session. That too after I had mapped everything to my mouse I still found it too hard to play well.

See I can play but playing well is the key no? If I cannot play consistently in a  group as a healer, much of the enjoyment of grouping is gone. I found this out in Wild Star I did so poorly in that game I was ashamed of grouping because I just could not manage dodging and healing in that game. You also had to aim your heals and get people within the green telegraphs. I could solo fine just not group well.

I always take pride in my healing skills and in many games from WoW, City of Heroes and FFXI and FFXIV I have always done well. That is in fact one of the golden points for me and why I play. When my own physical limitations are unable to cope I must bow out.

I feel that in a game if you cannot pull your weight in a group then it becomes a chore to play.

You may think that about what any poster says, to be polite you don't say it though. :D
