Out of all the paragraphs the only thing people can attack really is that there are more animal mobs than I suggested.  While that's true, it's also true that; One, no one really cares about the rabbits and such which run around passively; Two, 99.95 percent of the time in game is still spent killing the 9 mobs.  You may see a bear one day, but unless you are one of the people who farm bears (which actually happens, some people stand around for hours killing the same 3-4 bears which spawn, because there is nothing else to do), 99..95 percent of the time most people are killing the 3 Transylvania mobs, killing the blue skeletons, or killing the red and blue zombies.  That's about it.   I dunno, if its your thing cool.  Stand in an area and kill boars all day (some people do that).   I am glad you have your space, but it isn't for me.  I don't want to be in that space.

The fact there counting resource pinata as mobs should tell you all you need to know ..

Now the smart kids realize that resource pinatas .. Are not Mobs .. The other kids .. count them...

We should all strive not to be the other kid:)

So let me get this straight. Every animal/monster that I kill, if I get some kind of resource from it it’s a resource piñata? And not a mob?

    do I read you correctly?
Yep, all those mobs you have to hunt and kill for board missions, not mobs, apparently.
    How about Ragnoros?

Ok .. to help you ..

Resource Pinatas are NPC Fauna that generate Crafting resources but do not fight back .. aka NW Turkeys Rabbits etc ..

This should not need explaining .. But like i said .. the other kids will include them .. Sooo .. it's just that

So its very weak to include them in a mob list ..
    Ok

Lets leave NW out of this for a moment. I’m talking any game.

a Piñata hangs from a string, it doesn’t do anything. So yes you are correct a turkey or a rabbit in a game can be a loot piñata. Now if you give those things AI… Make a rabbit behave more like a real rabbit or a turkey behave more like a turkey well I’m going to argue that those things are not loot piñata’s

Its like somebody calling something a PoS

Are you claiming the Turkeys and Rabbits in NW behave like actual Turkeys and Rabbits ..

Ive done plenty of hunting of each .. Nothing could be further from the truth ..

If you are not my apologies...

actual native wild Turkey for ex , are really difficult .. you can spend all day in a stand with calls in perfect weather in a great spot and not even see one .. very shy, alert creatures, elusive and do not like being seen .. Will take off at first indication something is not quite right ...

The things standing on the side of the road in NW are not Turkeys ,, they act nothing like a Turkey .. they stand waiting for anyone to run by and hit them with there purse ..

      hence Resource Pinata..

If you want to hunt Turkey on your PC i would recommend.... theHunter   Great Game

Now , i can make a Turkey Pinata and same as NW you wack it once with a stick and out fly meat and feathers .. ..

And dont you kids forget to include the Bass and Trout on your MOB list , cause if a Turkey and Rabbit are MOBS .. so is a Trout ..
You ever seen a real rabbit? I can assure you they behave quite similar except for the eating shitting and fucking part.

This fish your talking about don’t even move, they don’t exist until you catch them.

And yes they are mobs fucking wimpy ones.

Well hey , im really glad i could help , you better drop back a couple pages and update that MOB list for NW with those Trout and Perch ..

And do not forget to add the Tadpoles and Snails ..

The NW community needs to know what it faces , in the NW ..

Hmm this really opens my eyes, now i need to update UOs mob list from 400 to 500 ..

Ohhh wow ..  ohhh man i just realized something Ultima online has 4x the amount of just Fish Mobs than NW entire game in MOBS  ..

      LMFAO

ohh you cant make this shit up .. fucking pathetic  .. fish mobs babahahahha

     bahahhahahah

    Now lets be fair, Scorch.
When UO launched, they only had one fish.
And you chopped that up to get fish steaks that you cooked.
By my count, that's only 2 MOBs.

How can 2000 people on a server ever be good? It's an MMO saying only 2000 active.... I mean, it's an MMO...  During prime time, non active players are people like me who quit.

And again... crafting... once you have made a bag for yourself and a handful of people that's it.  Market flooded.  I quit making the Tier 4 bags when other people started selling them at below cost (so they could level, although they would level faster making armor, but they aren't real smart).  At level 60 there will be some power grinders who make good cash for awhile selling bags and tools, but then zippo.  Maybe cooking / arcane will make a little money as people always need that stuff.  Personally though while I could sell mats, I was never successful at selling a completed food item (even one with good stats).  Of course, part of the problem selling a completed item is another game failure, the marketplace... which is a nightmare to navigate.

You can't just fix this stuff.  It's like fixing the Titanic.
So far the only thing you've accomplished saying is that you really have no clue how to play the game, and through failure came bitterness.  What actually happened?  You tried pvp once and got stomped on or something? :P

By the way Scorch UO was the one and only time I cheated in a game. I raised my dex fishing with a mouse macro program

Damn me all to hell ;)

I raised mine just shooting my bow , I was a hot mess at the start .. I was actually raising Tracking and Camping .. got them both to near 70 which was quite a task then , before i realized what a gimp i was .. But i was having fun doing it ..

Leatherworking also , i think i sewed thousands of Leather Bras .. But they were the best thing to sell to the NPC .. Bought my first house by providing Bras to all of Brit :)

Back when I played DAOC only one or two servers exceeded 2000 players online and I recall choosing one (MLF) which averaged 1700 at peak and had a terrific time on it.

But my favorite server was Mordred, a FFA Red server which had about 1000 which was more than enough and this was after many expansions like Si and TOA.

I did get to play on the Phoenix freeshard which launched with 4K which was a bit of a mess, not due to performance issues but because there were far too many players everywhere, especially at the main camp grinding spots.

So I see 2K probably being a good number unless the world is Vanguard big which I'm guessing NW isn't yet.

DAOC was 20k server capacity , i recall over 15k concurrent at times , on acouple servers i played on 3 .. Lancelot i think was booming or Gwenivere ..

A large pop and large space is needed for proper RvR .. NW has neither .. but it also is not trying to be proper RvR like DaOC .. its something else ..

Funny story, wild turkeys in Florida are not at all the shy, elusive birds as Scorch described from up north.

I've met more than one runner who found themselves being chased by an irate turkey and I've seen lots of them just standing near road's edge as I drive or bike past.

Not sure many hunt them here which probably explains their behavior.

Most hunters in Florida go up north as it's really unpleasant and a bit dangerous to hunt in the swamps down here.

Even here in Pa and Oh , farm raised Turkeys will do that shit , they also look somewhat different than a native wild ..

Same as the farm raised pheasents ..

Lol i stopped hunting those when you literrally had to kick them in the air to shoot them ( which i would not do) ..

Pretty big difference between how native wild and farm raised act

How can 2000 people on a server ever be good? It's an MMO saying only 2000 active.... I mean, it's an MMO...  During prime time, non active players are people like me who quit.
I think you'd be shocked by the server caps many MMOs had before the days of 'mega-servers'. 2,000 concurrent players is most definitely enough for any MMO and definitely this game. The world isn't large enough to support much more than that, and they've already raised it probably as much as they care to for a while.

I'd think in 200 hours you would have experienced just how jam packed the servers felt when actually playing while there were still constant queues.

Amazon already said they wanted to create communities, and not just huge instanced layered servers where you will never group with the same persons twice.

And they have succeeded, there are quite a few people on my server I regularly meet while out in the world... I actually remember people and people remember me, something that didn't happen in another MMORPG for a while now outside of my guild, except in WoW Classic.

This does not fly .. Its just them putting a weak spin on there lack of tech abilities..

Unless of course you want to say that DAOC did not nurture community for ex .. Which it did and realm pride in spades ..

There were many many very tight nit groups in DAOC for ex..

NW is just not capable of any more than 2k or they would do it ..

Down the road they may be able to increase, as they did state some time back that they would like to get to 10k per server .. which flys in the face of we only want 2k because well community ..

      Its just there spin now

People talking about Amazon's technical abilities remind me of this old comic strip... ;)

Here is Amazon official announcement earlier ..

"When New World launches, it will be able to have server hosting for about 500 players, though the goal is to reach 10,000 concurrent players per server that should kick off some amazing territorial wars"

Now , obviously they have Goals , as they said that have not been able to reach due to technical problems .. They have been able to get to 2000  .. Rumor has it that may increase in 2-3 weeks..

They still hope to get to 10k

Which flys in the face again of your logic..

So either you or them , has no idea what they want or hope to achieve with there game ..

Im thinking they are still hoping to achieve there goals .. of 10,000

I ultimaltley think they fall short and stall at 4-5k .. Which would be great for NW if they increase the land Mass..

21 sq miles is sooo tiny .. maybe the smallest MMO world made ..

Bland game bland story bland combat system with terrible unbalanced pvp system. To call this an mmo is an insult to fully fleshed out mmo's. And to give it a pass because it's American made just shows many are will to accept garbage because it has Amazon on the label.

For (alleged) mmorpg genre fans it seems a bit miopic to so heavily criticize a new, successful game within the genre, whether you personally like the game or not.
For a new, high profile game within the genre to be released, liked and played is a good thing for the genre as a whole.
If a company as big as Amazon can find success within a niche genre like the mmorpg it can signal to other publishers and investors to take a chance on greenlighting other projects they may have otherwise been shy to endorse and support.
    Big picture people.

I'm not sure if I want big money companies in it or not tbh.......I kinda like the passionate Indie people more than the corporate stuffed shirts.

Not if you want to buy something for the lowest price. You type your search for whatever item you want, look at all trading posts at once, sort by price and go where you need to go to buy it cheap. Works very well for those of us who play the game.

Well I refuse to say I dont like the game and that it is garbage because I do like the game and it is not garbage to me.
Not sure why people cant just like a game or not without there being some deeper meaning behind it.

I never really liked ESO even though I have no real reason.
    I just dont.
It does not click with me.
Personally I never really liked UO or DAOC or EQ 1
I have no real issues with the games, they just never really clicked with me.
Like EQ2 did or Lineage did or AC did or New World does.
I have no need to burn a game to the ground if I dont like it.

Some times there are reasons and sometimes there are not.
Sometimes they just click with you.
    These are just video games.
You either like a title or you dont.

    If you like it, cool.
If you dont like it, groovy.

    yay choice.

LOL to say you don't like something like ESO but don't even know why?

Yeah people who say this likely are just bandwagoners who like something because someone else says so.  They are just trend followers.  They know the reason why but also know their opinion will be completely ignored if they state the real reason.

This reminds me of the Pepsi/Coke taste challenge when people have STRONG opinions of each brand.  Then when challenged with a blind taste test they end up choosing the brand they supposedly hated as the best one.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying people cant taste the difference, or can have a real dislike for something, but they better know WHY and be consistent with that.

To say you don't like something but don't know why, yeah very disingenuous there.
It's not though and everyone feels that way about many things.
I dont hate ESO and have played it off and on at times but overall it just does not click with me. I like the graphics, the world, the skill structure and the voice acting. I like the questing well enough but overall it just falls flat for me. It does not have that 'it' factor that keeps me interested.
It has many of the things I like about an online rpg but it just does not click with me and I find myself not feeling the need to log in and play.....so I dont.
Even games I like have things about them that I dont like so it is normal that games I dont like to play have things I do like.
I dont believe there are things that you yourself dont dislike but there is no real defined reasons as to why or if there is you dont feel they warrant not liking something over.
In fact I am not sure I have ever meet a person who could not say that about something. Whether that would be a game, a movie, a tv series, a food, a band or anything else created or otherwise.
Some things just come down to whether they have the flavor you like.
    Defined or not.
I don't think this way, so everyone doesn't.

I base my opinions on data not gut feelings, warm fuzzies or tingles. I agree some people use this tactic to shut down debate, after all how can you really argue with someone's gut feeling.

I used to have someone I worked with that used to say he had a bad feeling in his gut about every idea someone had (he probably should get it looked at).  Generally when you pressed him on it, you would find his main objection was completely off base.  The equivalent would be someone saying they didn't like ESO, then finally revealing their main dislike was inventory space due to all the craftable items.  Obviously then people would point out that if you subscribe it would remove most of that problem.  Likely rather than change their opinion with the new info however they would just close back up and say they still don't like it but cant say why.

When I hear people saying gut feelings and warm fuzzies I just completely ignore their opinion.  I think they are just afraid to tell people what the real reason is.  Once you put your reason out their it can be refuted.  Its so much easier not to state your reason then nobody can argue with it.

The closest thing I have to a "gut feeling" is actually real sensory data and experience all coming together to give me actionable intelligence about a situation.  It is real data and I could tell you what was causing my "feeling" if I felt it was worth it to explain and time permitted.

What I don't do is go to a movie, check off all the things I love about it, then turn around and say overall I just didn't like it but don't know why.  I am sorry, but if I didn't like it, there would be reasons.

My opinions change as the data changes, I used to like ESO before it was on EZ mode, now its on EZ mode so I changed my opinion of it.

So no, I don't relate at all to "I don't know why I like/don't like but I just do" statements.
