I was attacked by a goose. It punctured my bicycle tire.
My family and we're attacked by a rogue Canadian goose while trying to feed the ducks at a local pond.
Damn thing was nipping my wife and I's asses while we tried to run back to the car with two screaming children in our arms.
However, once we got the girls safely in the car I went got a crowbar out of the trunk and taught him a lesson on who the real King of the pond was.
Backstabbing little.....
I remember the time my older brother saved me from a turkey using his belt. The thing was bigger than me, I think I was about 4 or 5 years old at the time

As a Canadian I can confirm that our geese definitely have a bad temper and especially like to frighten children - very un-Canadian of them really.

Well I refuse to say I dont like the game and that it is garbage because I do like the game and it is not garbage to me. Not sure why people cant just like a game or not without there being some deeper meaning behind it.
I never really liked ESO even though I have no real reason. I just dont. It does not click with me. Personally I never really liked UO or DAOC or EQ 1 I have no real issues with the games, they just never really clicked with me. Like EQ2 did or Lineage did or AC did or New World does. I have no need to burn a game to the ground if I dont like it.
Some times there are reasons and sometimes there are not. Sometimes they just click with you. These are just video games. You either like a title or you dont.
If you like it, cool. If you dont like it, groovy.
yay choice.
LOL to say you don't like something like ESO but don't even know why?
Yeah people who say this likely are just bandwagoners who like something because someone else says so. They are just trend followers. They know the reason why but also know their opinion will be completely ignored if they state the real reason.
This reminds me of the Pepsi/Coke taste challenge when people have STRONG opinions of each brand. Then when challenged with a blind taste test they end up choosing the brand they supposedly hated as the best one.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying people cant taste the difference, or can have a real dislike for something, but they better know WHY and be consistent with that.
To say you don't like something but don't know why, yeah very disingenuous there.
It's not though and everyone feels that way about many things. I dont hate ESO and have played it off and on at times but overall it just does not click with me. I like the graphics, the world, the skill structure and the voice acting. I like the questing well enough but overall it just falls flat for me. It does not have that 'it' factor that keeps me interested. It has many of the things I like about an online rpg but it just does not click with me and I find myself not feeling the need to log in and play.....so I dont. Even games I like have things about them that I dont like so it is normal that games I dont like to play have things I do like. I dont believe there are things that you yourself dont dislike but there is no real defined reasons as to why or if there is you dont feel they warrant not liking something over. In fact I am not sure I have ever meet a person who could not say that about something. Whether that would be a game, a movie, a tv series, a food, a band or anything else created or otherwise. Some things just come down to whether they have the flavor you like. Defined or not.
I don't think this way, so everyone doesn't.
I base my opinions on data not gut feelings, warm fuzzies or tingles. I agree some people use this tactic to shut down debate, after all how can you really argue with someone's gut feeling.
I used to have someone I worked with that used to say he had a bad feeling in his gut about every idea someone had (he probably should get it looked at). Generally when you pressed him on it, you would find his main objection was completely off base. The equivalent would be someone saying they didn't like ESO, then finally revealing their main dislike was inventory space due to all the craftable items. Obviously then people would point out that if you subscribe it would remove most of that problem. Likely rather than change their opinion with the new info however they would just close back up and say they still don't like it but cant say why.
When I hear people saying gut feelings and warm fuzzies I just completely ignore their opinion. I think they are just afraid to tell people what the real reason is. Once you put your reason out their it can be refuted. Its so much easier not to state your reason then nobody can argue with it.
The closest thing I have to a "gut feeling" is actually real sensory data and experience all coming together to give me actionable intelligence about a situation. It is real data and I could tell you what was causing my "feeling" if I felt it was worth it to explain and time permitted.
What I don't do is go to a movie, check off all the things I love about it, then turn around and say overall I just didn't like it but don't know why. I am sorry, but if I didn't like it, there would be reasons.
My opinions change as the data changes, I used to like ESO before it was on EZ mode, now its on EZ mode so I changed my opinion of it.
So no, I don't relate at all to "I don't know why I like/don't like but I just do" statements.

"In conclusion, QI believes that this saying was derived from the words of Bob Samples who was presenting his individual analysis of Albert Einstein. The phrasing evolved over time, and by 1997 someone had placed quotation marks around the descendant expression and had assigned the words to Albert Einstein. However, the ascription to Einstein is spurious."

The earliest evidence known to QI linking Einstein to this expression appeared in the 1976 book “The Metaphoric Mind: A Celebration of Creative Consciousness” by Bob Samples. The author did not claim he was quoting Einstein; instead, Samples was presenting his personal interpretation of Einstein’s perspective. Boldface has been added to the following excerpts: 1

Even if Einstein had said this, which he didn't by the way. Would that change your opinion? Would the mere fact that you thinking someone you admire believes something regardless of if it makes any sense or not, that would somehow influence your opinion. That's what advertisers count on. Its why so many ad's have famous people.
My point all along, people following things just because someone else told them too.
However at least you quoted your reason, which allowed it to be refuted. Stating your reason takes courage and allows you to learn information. Hiding behind feelings without stating any reasoning is a weak way to try to win a debate.
I lived on a farm with geese. I don't think a goose is capable of puncturing a bike tire. They have super tiny teeth. They can certainly draw blood with feet or teeth, but puncturing rubber sounds suspicious. We had a nasty domestic turkey that was pushing 50 pounds. He was mean. My grandma used to collect chicken eggs and the turkey would harass her. She used to put a metal coffee can over its head and whack it.

I didn't go searching for quotes by Einstein as if he's someone I look up to. I searched for quotes about intuition until I found one I liked. It's attributed to Einstein, but it really doesn't matter who said it. The quote rings quite true.
Intuition is a real thing, everyone has it. Well, everyone except you or anyone you've ever met, I guess. Discounting it is silly, in my opinion.
Well funny you say that, because my personality is deeply rooted with intuition. But I don't define it like some definitions as a completely abstract thing.
I used intuition to look up your quote, because I knew as soon as I heard it that it would likely be BS. My intuition was experience talking from many sources telling me that it didn't make sense. Its my mind pulling in data from multiple sources to give a deeper understanding then just 1 tiny factoid you might have. Its much like common sense, and some people just don't have it.
I hate the marketplace in this game, they need better filters.
Have you seen you can look for items in ALL cities ?
Wouldn't that make a filter problem worse?
Not if you want to buy something for the lowest price. You type your search for whatever item you want, look at all trading posts at once, sort by price and go where you need to go to buy it cheap. Works very well for those of us who play the game.
So where's the filter problem there? He said there was/were filter problem(s).

You'll have to ask him because as far as I'm concerned there are no filter problems.
Filters, if you use them, are logically arranged in a nested system like weapons > 1HD, 2HD, Magical and each one of those then subdivided (using magical for example) into ice gauntlet, fire staff, life staff and so on.
But the search function with "live" results based on the letters you have typed makes those filters secondary for finding anything anyway. If I'm looking for a life staff I just start typing l, i, f, e and then either click from the list of choices that generates or keep typing s, t, etc. until what I'm looking for shows up.
Then I just click on "all trading posts" to see every life staff listed for sale in the whole server, sort them by price, gear score, toggle only the ones I can afford, only the ones I can equip, etc.
It's an excellent system so no clue WTF he's talking about.

My only problem with the filtering is it doesn't let you filter on the items actual name or the stats it offers.
Example, Leather Coat of the Monk. Strength and Focus chest, I should be able to search the full name at the very least.
EDIT: To clarify, currently it only lets you filter by the base items name. So it can search for Leather Coat, but Leather Coat of the Monk which specifically offers the stats I want isn't searchable.
EDIT 2: Further clarification, for those that don't know, when items have been searched by their base, it only shows the base items name in the search results. You have to hover over each item to see what they ACTUALLY are. Tier, rarity, gem slot and perk are visible, but stats are not for some reason.

I was impressed by the auction house system when I was looking for a fishing pole with higher line resistance during both day and night (to level fishing faster). It only took me less than a minute to find the ideal item with the two perks, I just had to travel to the right city (Everfall in this case) and purchase the item.
To me, the system is quite excellent, and MUCH better than ESO where you have to resort to a third party web site to find items in other cities.
I am puzzled, the ESO auction house does not work for everyone in the game world/they don't have one?

Those are good points and improvements for sure.
I tend not to buy weapons and gear from the Trading post anyway. I used the life staff example only because it just came to mind first as a way to illustrate the search functionality.
I get my gear from the faction vendor or drops in places like expeditions. But I'm only level 52 so I think of all my gear as just temporary anyway. I might feel different when I'm 60 and min-maxing more.
TBH, my main and almost only use of the trading post currently is looking for ingredients I'm missing for town board cooking recipes... ginger, or garlic or potatoes... that sort of stuff lol.

This is exactly what I'm talking about, and you can not even sort by actual item level, only tier. I figured everyone here who's played an MMO in the last 10 years would know wtf I'm talking about without having to go into massive detail explaining it, hell people in game are asking the same thing. It's not a game breaking issue, it just takes longer to sort stuff so more time standing around shopping than it should.
The last time I've seen such a convoluted system was back in the pre-cu swg days where you had to actually go to each planet, then each shop and search, since we had no real global search to see what was offered in private shops. People would afk spam their shops in major cities to drum up business, or you spent the day driving around all over each planet, checking the, map, then vendor search. It was entirely annoying as you had to set a whole day aside to shop if say your favorite decided to close or move. You might never find the best deal either because some folks only advertised on the game forums, it was a real mess.

I think ESO is still like this. I guess the idea is to create a local feel to the markets, rather than one gigantic auction house. The effect though is to force everybody to travel around all the time, or resort to an out-of-game 3rd party app or website.
I could see having a "marketing" skill that allows you to see stuff in other places. Maybe after you travel there, and level up this skill enough, you can see what is for sale in other cities?

Personally, I don't want the game I play to make it so easy. That takes away from trading as game play. But these game usually have so many modifiers and they mean so much (high power gaps and all that) that players feel the need to get the "best" single item of their choice (need). My point is that it's just too complicated. Some complication is desirable but Devs go too far on gear. Many gamers want that, but it leaves us with this problem of "instant satisfaction" (time) while losing trade activity as game play.
Many trade oriented gamers wish they could travel the world and buy stuff that they can "turn" in another city for a profit. That sort of thing is gone in most MMORPGs. And it affects the game world and makes it seem less like a world you are in, and more like a game (with instant gratification).
Understand, I'm not much into playing trade, myself. But I enjoy playing with other types who are happily doing their thing. Whether it's this, Hunter/Scouts with specialized knowledge of a magical forest, Miners with Dungeon expertise, Tamers who breed great horses, etc. and whatever.
That makes the world feel bigger, and deeper, to me. I want that.
Is NW over-hyped? All mmo are to some degree. Many simply play it because everyone else is. It is like Facebook..... Sure there are alternatives, but everyone is on FB, so why go to places less populated?
XIV is an example of an over-hyped mmo imo, because it went like...a decade being a good mmo...then when popular WoW players endorsed it, the game broke records mere days after the fact.....
WoW is probably an example of a game that was not a fad, due to nearly 20 years of dominance (Not a huge WoW guy btw). The jury is still out on NW imo....

Why the fuck would you want to sort by level when you can sort by gear score that is a combination of level and quality?
And why the fuck would anyone know what you're talking about when all you said was "I hate the marketplace in this game, they need better filters." @Linif actually explained what he meant, you did no such thing.
Your post sounded like a petty gripe from someone who hasn't figured out how to use the Trading Post UI efficiently.
Convoluted? LMAO. It's simple AF.

Quote Investigator: Albert Einstein died in 1955.

My point all along, people following things just because someone else told them too.
However at least you quoted your reason, which allowed it to be refuted. Stating your reason takes courage and allows you to learn information. Hiding behind feelings without stating any reasoning is a weak way to try to win a debate.

I tend not to buy weapons and gear from the Trading post anyway. I used the life staff example only because it just came to mind first as a way to illustrate the search functionality.
