Anyone else hit a lull in leveling from 22-25?I found out the hard way that doing 'all' the side quests is a big part of leveling. I was under the impression that crafting/harvesting and only doing the unlock and main quests would be the way to go and I could skip the town side quests till later, nope.
Just so you know... the quality of the town board quests and the XP they give for crafting that pop up for you increases as your crafting level increases.

For example you'll get quests initially for fibers and occasionally linen but as you level up your skill on the loom it will occasionally give you quests for sateen which are worth much more XP.

Same for other refining or crafting skills you level up.

I hit a leveling wall in the high 30s and I've been using those town board quests which I thought gave crap XP to get good XP now that my refining and crafting levels are higher.

You will still get low level / poor XP crafting jobs from it but you can just accept and then abandon those right away and hope that the RNG gives you something better when it refreshes in 15 minutes.

At any rate I've done mostly those with a dungeon run or two sprinkled in to take me from about 38-43.

Quest Sharing: Really? This is not in the game? So what do your friends get when they help you with a quest?

A transport system to move goods between towns is an absolute must. I find myself in a situation where I need to spend a lot of time running material between towns to get the stuff where I need it due to resource distribution.

The material needed to teleport becomes harder to come by when you get to higher levels, and you have to do to portal runs in a zerg for 20 azoth a portal. I don't want to have to do this on a regular basis because at 500 weight it can cost up to 300/1000 azoth a port, depending on where you went to gather resources. I don't even have my last bag yet.

This is the kind of unnecessarily tedious game mechanic that can cause people to quit an otherwise great game. Like no mounts. You run more than the vocal minority would have you believe; mounts make it a little less dull when I'm running from point A, to B, to C, to D, back to A, back to C, to E, back to A, to F, back to C. It's not the teleporting joyride that people are making it out to be. Imagine no mounts in your current MMORPG, that's literally NW; it's not "unique".

Some solid suggestions. I would respectfully disagree on the recall timer (and even the addition of mounts that some want). Portage capacity and distance are integral to the game's economy. As players progress and they begin to purchase houses, they will have access to additional recall timers.

Combat is a serious let down. PvE collision is a remnant of the game's original PvP only vision. Combat feels awful. Movement is squishy. There's no animation cancelling and blocking is woefully lacking in responsiveness. Healing is clunky leaving life staff users reliant on AOE heals.

If there's one thing every MMO has to get right, it's nice feeling combat. Good article.

Yah.. Look, unless New World has some amazing ass physics... just not feeling the vibe to follow people around for the joy of following them around.

Pretty much every quest is a chain, at least the main story and side quests. It would be difficult to ever share them.

Town board missions and faction PvE missions aren't sharable. It would be nice if they were, but it's not something that needs an immediate change. They're just random missions that you grab and do while you're out questing.
Well.. lets see what 3 months brings.. LOL.

It's not like there isn't a lot for small groups to do. There are multiple open/air dungeons, AKA elite areas for all levels starting at 20, as well as 5-man corruption portals.

It's true that the lack of quest sharing sort of hurts duos who just want to play together and with no one else but there is actually a lot of casual small group content.

Some of those 5-man corruption portals against elites are also actually doable by 2 or 3 people if you're at their level or slightly above. I've done those with 3 or 4 random people in the area quite a few times.

Lack of quest sharing really isn't a big deal because the game isn't all that quest driven in the first place.

Gonna be a hard no for me on the reduced cooldown for recall. I havent played WoW in years but even their recall was 60 minutes.

Meaningful travel is important. If you trivialize travel it really shrinks the game world. Having territory based storage will be an after-thought. Gathering and crafting will, plus taxes, will be majorly affected because everyone would just wait to recall to their hometown inn.

Most games have mounts. New World doesn't. With that in mind, travelling is a pain for low level players when a one hour recall is their only option.

Crafting progression needs a serious change to it because it is horrible.  It is truly abyssmal.  I'll even throw some math in to why it's abyssmal!

So let's start with the obvious.  You need iron.  You need sooooo much iron, every step of the way.  You need iron for your iron tools!  Well, duh.  That doesn't sound so bad, right?  4 iron ore for an iron ingot.  You need 12 iron ingots for one iron pickaxe.  12 x 4 = 48 iron ore.  That's not so bad!
Now let's upgrade to a steel pickaxe.  You need 13 steel ingots.  Steel ingots need 3 iron ingots per.  13 steel x 3 iron ingots x 4 iron ore = 156 iron ore.  Ok.  Not...terrible?
Starmetal time!  You need 14 starmetal ingots for one starmetal pickaxe.  Starmetal ingots are two steel per.  14 starmetal ingots x 2 steel ingots x 3 iron ingots x 4 iron ore = 336 iron ore.
Last step of the way, orichalcum.  Orichalcum pickaxe needs 15 orichalcum ingots.  Orichalcum ingots need 2 starmetal ingots per.  15 orichalcum ingots x 2 starmetal ingots x 2 steel ingots x 3 iron ingots x 4 iron ore = 720 iron ore.  720 iron ore to make an orichalcum pickaxe.
But hey, lets give something else for perspective!  Let's talk legendary weapons.  Dark Sky, the legendary two handed axe, needs 20 Asmodeum.  Asmodeum is 5 orichalcum ingots per.  Going over previous formulas, 20 Asmodeum x 5 orichalcum x 2 starmetal x 2 steel ingot x 3 iron ingot x 4 iron ore = 4,800 iron ore.  What they did is the equivalent of taking  WoW's Bronze ingot formula of needing the base level copper and then a tin bar; and made it into the entire crafting progression system of the game.  You need iron, for literally every step of crafting.

This is bad not just for mentality but also for introducing new blood into the crafting game.  Higher levels needing iron for everything means they'll optimize their grind routes.  That's a given.  So they're going to farm iron in low level areas as to not aggro mobs or anything that can interfere with the mining.  Which means new players who want to get into crafting will need to compete with max level characters with orichalcum picks who can one shot iron veins every step of the way.  Or even bots, bots will literally have the easiest life ever because they just need to set them to farm iron and they can make bank.
That's not even going over the stupidity that is the leveling crafting.  Let's pull up fextralife's weaponsmithing leveling guide and go over the 150-200 part of it.  They suggest two options, either iron great axes or orichalcum great axes.  They suggest either 6,763 iron great axes, or 445 orichalcum great axes.  6,763 iron great axes = 81,856 iron ingots = 324,624 iron ore.  Holy cow, thats a lot!  The orichalcum great axes only needing 445 means probably less iron, right?  Well...let's see.  445 orichalcum great axes = 6,675 orichalcum ingots x 2 starmetal x 2 steel x 3 iron x 4 iron ore = 320,400 iron ore.  It is literally more cost effective to just make iron great axes because you only need 4k more iron ore while not having to mine all of the orichalcum ore, starmetal ore, and flux.
I am very passionate about crafting.  This crafting system is an abomination.

I can relate to the list, however :

    UI Customization ( or )

    UI Scale Slider

Out of Combat Run-speed pots ....( The world is nice to be explored but after 3 times go, fetch and come back its just Frigging brutal )

Sort out the Name Tags and for the love of god allow us to see our OWN Tag and title

Map Markers by player and a ping for group members......

    Have a nice day....

    Controversial :
    - Remove 1st House discount, or make it apply to Tier4 only

Currently game tells you NOT to get one, before you find perfect location for your first house and grind reputation to rank30 (?) for your first House to be T4 and get 10k discount.
Buying first House T1 is stupid.

Never mind quest sharing, right now, that would be like passing your friend a turd, and even handling a turd might prove to be more interesting than the current quests in this game; Quests need an overhaul entirely imo, right now they are a cheap copy and paste job at best; the same can be said for the biomes and mobs too.

The game may well have "good bones" and "good foundations" but that doesn't change the fact that considering the development time, and the money behind it, it isn't half boring and half baked. You repeat the same quests over and over in copy+paste environments, against copy+paste mobs, using the same 6 skills (3 per wep) the whole time whilst utilising the occasional block or dodge, but most importantly - hammering or holding LMB.

PvP is either a zerg fest, or a level check, and the odd decent 1v1 now and then. You have to get to level 60 to participate in outpost rush so no idea what that is like. Wars have limited slots (50 players per side) so GL getting into them regularly.

Crafting/gathering pretty much becomes spamming the same low tier items forever to get exp, this appears to be true even at higher crafting and gathering tiers.

Apologies for the tangent. I just don't understand the hype (other than newness and twitch). Players say it's because the MMO market is stagnant, and this may be true; however, this game does nothing to solve that. There are plenty of older MMO's that are far more interesting than this, albeit not all of them were great on release, but a few have been more enjoyable than NW even on release. Right now I see little reason to spend time in NW when I could play GWs2, ESO, BDO, FFXIV, even Runescape?!

I would say any joggers/runners/walkers/ramblers out there would enjoy the game, as it certainly has plenty of that going for it if that's your thing. I actually managed to nod off post work whilst running from quest to town, to quest town again. That will teach me for using the auto run key... Walking is actually such a big part of the game that they even have you walk under bodies of water instead of swimming - sorry swimmers, this is not the game for you!

Maybe the game just isn't for me right now.

I agree, this game is seriously lacking in PVE content, questing and any depth. Want to go for a great crafting, rambling sim then New World is it.

Want a great mmo with great PVE and story then New World is not it.

One thing I have noticed there are a lot of update "priorities" and they will take a lot of time, hopefully players realise the NW team can't work on them all at once! :)

#1 is a good point if done right, but the rest are just fundamental design decision that you wish they change and I sure hope they won't. None of that would retain players long term.

What really needs to be addressed is the abhorrent toxicity of the global chat which goes on ceaselessly 24/7, like a domino effect which causes others to get involved and therefore ADD to the toxic environment. I know that every MMO has its fair share of toxicity in chat, but having played most of the big MMOs over the past 25 years, the toxic nature of the comments in New World's chat really pushes the envelope far beyond what I ever expected from an MMO. Makes Barrens chat seem like something out of a PG rated movie.

Honestly if your server is that bad, switch servers.

The first server I joined was as bad as you described, so I switched to one of the new low pop servers and the difference was like night and day. Much better.

Giving them incentive to level up, earn enough to buy a house, etc ?

Working as it should as far as I can tell, especially considering the road to the top appears pretty short and there's not a ton of things to do once a player gets there.

    Perhaps more folks need to
