After being delayed until early 2022, Amazon and Smilegate have announced a closed beta for Lost Ark in the west, which starts November 4th. Today in a series of blog posts, the team detailed what players can expect to see, as well as how monetization will work for the free-to-play MMOARPG.

In the other regions I played this game, the cash shop had many mats in there for upgrading gear.
nah. There aren't enough quality multiplayer ARPGs out there. This and Last Epoch should do quite well next year.
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
lets see if they can pull it off
i love new world actually!.. but trying to keep up with blizzard numbers.......
big shoes to fill my friend.
That is all we need to know about its business model...
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
The monthly optional subscription can be bought with in-game earnable blue crystals, so the pet benefits are not paywalled. Pet benefits that come from the ability to access bank anywhere, extra inventory and such are quite used in raids for example.
Buying mats to upgrade gear is NOT a good sign at all. I really hope it's no where as bad as Archeage or Archeage Unchained.
This looks too much like another Asian MMO that lets you play pretty far without spending anything, then at end-game hits you with enchantment grind.
These are the regions that banned loot boxes I think, aren't they?
...except the leveling process is one of the most liner i've ever played. It reminded me of Cabal, Rohan, 2Moons, etc.
Didn't stayed for the "End Game", which I heard is ..better than the above, but because the servers were pretty empty and because of the leveling ..thing, which bored me a lot, i /quit it.
I don't see myself playing it.
Oh, and the P2W is REAL and it will be REAL in EU/NA too. Imagine Lineage 2 and Archeage had a baby....a big baby!
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
They'll have plenty of people trying this.

Never thought I would say this but these days I don't mind some brainless linear leveling, as long as it's consistent. The fun for me is in the raids, even the sp dungeons. Yes this swg vet has been indoctrinated into this type of gameplay over time. Do I miss sandbox? yeah, but this is fun too. Even though I mostly play solo; honestly it feels like a really cool Diablo, but with more players around providing better multiplayer ambience. Kinda feels like how GW2 should have been. I don't see NA and EU being as empty as Russian servers. They are consistently frugal in their spending, hence why most of the players on RU are outside of the country.
