I'd like to see a game that emphasizes the role-playing aspects of the genre. Define what a character does that constitutes RP for this game, be it stats, gear, actions, or something else. Allow my character to be unique, and allow my success be determined by how I act, not by how long I've been subscribed or how many times I've done something. Implement new AI techniques to dynamically build stories in the game -- not just quests and dialog, but dynamic world events (plots) using proponents, adversaries, goals, resources, methods, and visibility (everyone shouldn't know about a plot to kill the king).
Currently, the AI isn't up to the challenge, and few, if any, games are actually working to improve the AI. Instead, we have developers providing a static story that everyone shares. I'd rather have something that deals dynamically with all sizes of groups, from an individual level all the way up to a traditional raid and beyond.
Give the AI control of the world, and let me play in it. (Only real issue I see is me living to 377, or learning to play after death. Both are on my To-Do list).
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

I really wanted EQN to test that design concept. I'm dying for someone to pickup the torch.

Maybe in 20 years when VR is 1) affordable and 2) no longer fuckawful crap.
Oculus Rift is only $299, on Amazon.. a little less then what I paid for my last Graphic's card, to be able to play Crowfall.
Which is still expensive for what is effectively a peripheral that plays glorified tech demos.
People not only wait in line, but are willing to drop well over a grand for a new console, which is little more than a Glorified Graphic Card in a Box, not even going to go into what people shell out for a top end Gaming Rig.
As such, a full VR headset and body Tracker system, is very affordable, for the people that are willing to put their money into their hobby.
For the people that are playing on a 10 year old toaster, and using a fish bowl as a monitor.. maybe not so much.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.

Consoles do not cost over a grand at MSRP. Also, they have over 10 times the games at typically far greater quality than what is offered on any VR platform. Not to mention that PC with the high end graphics card offers many times more. Please be less disingenuous.

Steam lists 5269 games as being VR-only, so it's not like there's no content for it at all. That doesn't contradict your statement about quality, however.

Numbers of Games, is irrelevant, as it Only takes 1 good MMO, to be the only game you have time to play..
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
Also.. just in case anyone was planning to buy a X-Box.. be ready for even Walmart to ask over a Grand for that baby.
Truth is, VR is well within the realm of affordability to the people that want to use it. If you do not want to get into VR, like anything, you will make excuses, and the most lame one of them all, is "It's costs too much"

Those two factors are intrinsically linked. People do not buy platforms without a solid number and quality of games. Large, ambitious MMOs do not launch on platforms without the potential for large player numbers. This is a basic concept.

Oh spare me the prancing around like a butthurt pony whining about cost, and other bullshit.
Harsh reality, regardless if you like this or not, VR is as affordable as consoles, has hundreds of games available to them, I might, one of the cooler VR games I saw, was a way to play D&D as if you were playing at a table top with your friends, quite the innovative tech all things said and done, but, no matter how much you my cry about this, VR is becoming more and more mainstream.
The only thing actually holding VR MMO's back right now is being able to moving about, but they have been working on that, and some of the solutions are very cool, if I am going to be honest about it.
But some of the MMO's coming out today are 1st person, or have 1st person options, and no doubt this is to make transitioning over to VR easier, as they know that will be the future of gaming.
Not to mention that social games like Metaverse, is fully VR integrated, VR is the future of Social gaming.
Cry all you want, but that won't change anything.
Anyway, as far as the OP goes, I am looking forward to full VR integration for an MMO, which I think will be a lot of fun, and it will happen, sooner, not later.

I don't want to game with people who aren't willing to throw down 1K for gear. At the very least, can we put the poors on a different server?
Gross.
We need a proper multi-tier caste. I personally don't want to game anyone with 7-figure or less annual income.

This is a game coming from an MMO ive backed and been testing for a couple years now ..(which will be good )
But they have expanded there dev team and have a group working on this .. I have high hopes
levelling in a survival game. oh my. They are going to have to do better than that. Otherwise it does look good though. A bit of a Valheim or maybe eqnext? clone which I have zero issues with. I guess well see if the rpg parts make it suckier or not. Im guessing suckier but id play it either way.

Imagine a game that could bring your character within a hair of his life and then the game bullshits your brain into thinking that your killer reflexes just saved the day. An emotional roller coaster, the gleeful kind.
The nemesis system in SoM and SoW was something I really wanted to see expanded on and not just in a LoTR environment.

The way monetization is going I'd say you have a good chance at getting your wish.
It would also be cool if we could tie in more 'meta'. I only want to game with other 'purples' from MMORPG.
I've already played Overwatch with Musk. I was looking forward to see Bezos in New World but even he hated his game.

i would like a elder scrolls game , in that format, single player, continuous story and content updates
no clue how they would monetize it

On the topic of harsh realities, you are full of shit. You can buy VR set, but you'll either need a powerful computer or a console or a mix of both. Whereas consoles ... you buy the damn thing, you plug power and hdmi cable to it and it's done.
...
No need for dedicated "gaming room" with installed body tracking sensors. No need for intricate wiring. No need for large apartment either. And here you are, acting as if VR is plug & play. Well it fucking isn't. And this shit costs money and it falls into the category of "hidden costs". Do I need to explain how much people enjoy "hidden costs" when they see one?
P.S: As someone that dabbles in real estate and real estate investment, majority of new apartments are 2-3 bedroom suites that are less than or around 100 sq.m.
I'm going to say a non-fantasy setting. It's been overdone. I never understood the appeal of gaming in a place without indoor plumbing and based on a dark era in human history where you could be executed for "offending" the local god.
A game where we're not chasing the latest equipment at endgame.
A game where the advancement mechanics makes it easy to raise the level cap of the game (if it even uses levels).

I'm not so hung up on Voxels although they are totally cool. I want to see some big time investment into AI
Mob AI, bunny AI, Everything AI.
Like Mendel said, I want the game to start the story and I want to finish it, my way.
edit: How's the AI?

Then I realized that it doesn't matter. Why? The community at large will just run the game. So it just doesn't matter at this point.
It's like development teams got bigger but actual working talent got less.
Back to basics please, cheers.

Lets take a mix of WoW, FFOnline, Minecraft, and Diablo....mash em together and thats what I would like to see.
There is a voxel MMORPG in the works that plans to cover the voxel genre and kick it up a notch. That is what I am waiting for
