A public call for MJ to drop the NDA

It is now closing in on 9 years since the Kickstarter.  Much that has happened has been hard to control or predict.  I will not argue those points.  The fact remains however, that the Kickstarter launched in April 2013.  The original ETA was Dec 2015.  During all this time I (and many others) have kept the faith and not broken NDA.

It's been long enough though.

You may not be able to release the game at this time, but you absolutely, 100% can drop the NDA.

At worst, you will get more bad press coverage.  Big deal.  It's not like the coverage has been positive these last few years.

At best, it might stir up more discussions and conversations.  Maybe some actual TheoryCrafting.  All of that is stifled and shut by this near decades long NDA...

There are no trade secrets being saved via the NDA and there is no PR benefit.  It serves no purpose any longer.

Take this opportunity to start 2022 in a new way.  Let the world see, warts and all, the fruit of your labor.  Let honest and open discussions begin and then maybe, some goodwill will develop and folks can see with their own eyes if progress is being made.

Or... you can keep doing the same thing... I think it's the clear choice.

I lost interest in this long ago due to the info embargo all while projecting arrogance in comparing their creation to all other games, while sharing little about theirs. At this point they could release it tomorrow and I couldn't be bothered to try it.

Silly request, If they have nothing to gain, there is no reason for them to do it.

Mark, at Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the tunneling electron microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. Mark, if I were using that microscope right now... I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your game.

I see on other mmo sites/ forums, where he actually replies to posts, he sometimes notoriously trolls people who have issues with the game.

Not sure why he packed it up and left this site. There might be a thread somewhere on here, from him, about leaving this site.

They are almost 9 years in with nothing to show but concept art and sounds in the latest news letter.

It's a statement that he made publicly, and hence a public statement.  If it were a private message, then it wouldn't be a public statement.

Silly to think there cannot be a gain.  But at least you are consistent.  If I said your house was on fire you would reflexively respond that you were just using heat to get rid of some dampness.

Sure, he can keep on as he is going.  As you can see in this very thread, almost all backers have lost interest.  Its impossible to talk about the "game" because it's still under a draconian NDA. Thus all the discussions are around business decisions, and all of it's bad.

If they drop the NDA, could there be any worse response than what currently exists?  Right now the best response to any CU post is apathy (again, see above posts). 

There CAN be a gain by being open and honest, warts and all.. as I said in the OP.  Surely not a guarantee and yes... he will get a lot of negative posts, but at least the topic shifts back to gameplay and away from his business decisions.

I mean, his Final Stand: Ragnarok was also limited in discussion.  That launched a few months ago.  To date, maximum players was 19 and it doesn't appear they have had more than 6 since Nov.   So sure, he can keep doing what he's doing... and get the same results.   Or he can toughen up and try to shake things up a bit, even if it might be painful.

Apathy is a whole lot worse than hate at the end of the day.

Geez 3 people peak is a very poor showing for a game.  It doesn't seem like people trust anything he is producing.  I would ask if the game was really that bad, but considering how many have played it, its probably not very likely anyone here could comment.

Well, the negative reviews for FS:R basically echo this posters thoughts

"- The game is extremely simplistic, with champions having the 3 basic cooldowns in an addition to 2 basic attacks but without any customizations, aside from 5 consumable items you can pick up by shooting chests (items like deployable walls or damage bombs or traps)

- There is only a single map now, and only 5 champions/heroes/gods/whatever

- The game has a mix of human voiced text as well as horrible text-to-speech text which becomes unbearable to listen to after a while, especially with all the cringe jokes you get to listen to

- The AI is pretty dumb and doesn't use any strategy other than "overwhelm you with numbers"

- The performance is not very good, even with FPS staying above 100 there are random hitches of unknown origin, this shouldn't be happening on my system with AMD 5800x, 3070ti, 32GB of RAM and Samsung 970 evo NVME SSD which runs all the other games perfectly, including other "Early Access" games

- NOBODY IS PLAYING IT NOW, I spent 3 minutes in queue after which the game started with only me playing, without any other human teammates and without game providing me with AI teammates. I understand its a new game but I don't wanna waste $20 on hoping that some day I might (or might not) get enough human teammates at the time of the day that is convenient to me.

- the User Interface and menus and other text does not scale with resolution, I have 4k monitor, the text looks extremely small at native resolution

- There is a very limited amount of graphics settings in current version and all of them already maxed out, but even with all of them maxed out the graphical quality of the game is pretty poor compared to similar games like Paladins and Smite (I know it's not something many people care about but this is important to me, especially when it comes to customizing my characters with skins).

Long story short, this game is absolutely not worth $20, especially when you have similar games like Paladins/Smite available for FREE already, with much more content including PvP (something this game does not have and looks like it never will) in an addition to co-op PvE. If u wanna give it a try - wait for it to go f2p while enjoying existing alternatives."

LOL, as a player even I know that when it comes to gamers, that there is always a Worse Response they can manage.

With that said, I would bet MJ has a wall of where he displays his hate mail, So.. Again, if they have nothing to gain, there is no point in doing it.

Not a hard concept to grasp, even you should be able to understand it.

Well, the Vanguard emulator would die for such big numbers. And that was an amazing and hugely popular game according to many 

It is also infinitely better then this.

I explained the potential benefits.  If that went over your head... problem is on your side. I'm gonna guess that you did not buy Camelot Unchained and never followed it and the only reason you even responded was to try and take a lame swing and miss at me again.
