Deadeye here b/c I like pistoleer classes for their mobility and range.
Also playing Deadeye, he's like Dante from Devil May Cry without the sword. Love the mechanics, especially switching between 3 types of weapons is very fun.

I will probably try gunslinger too, was also interested in paladin and reaper but repears isn't out yet.
Only thing I am annoyed by is that this looks like it is gender locked.
Aye, gender locked. The Bow user is only masculine.
Welcome to Asian games, I guess...
Aye I wish they would evolve though gender locks are so 1990's......not to mention a tad sexist..lol
This very well could be cultural.
Indeed but sexism and the like tends to be ingrained into our cultures too. For example take 1950's NA culture. Anyhoot topic for another thread.
Sometimes it's also just cheaping out and cost cutting on animations and the like.
Just one of my pet peeves in mmo's gender locks are.
hmmm I know that's the usual go to for these topics in that they are "cheapening out." but I suspect they don't save that much money on creating two genders for each class.
Certainly western developers aren't going bankrupt on adding both male and female characters to their games. I can't imagine that eastern developers are hurting so much that they just have to leave it out.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I don't understand how a Male Deadeye and a Female Gunslinger can mean sexism.

Western games where you can just pick a gender usually there is only a slight change of model. But Korean games that are gender locked have complete different animations between the equivalent of female and male classes.
That's not sexism.
Black Desert in due time provided equivalent of all classes, different mechanism and animations and style, but basically the same concept of class. Lost Ark is almost the same, especially when we get all the available classes in the west.

It doesn't. I always thought they did it to save on development costs (one model for a class instead of having to make animations and class specific outfits for two different models).
I also always thought this was more prevalent in the eastern culture because they like the idea of playing a hero class instead of making a unique character.
I don't understand how a Male Deadeye and a Female Gunslinger can mean sexism.
Guys lets not go off on a huge tangent for an off hand remark, it's sexism in that most of the time the gender locks are related to what traditional is male and female roles. The off hand remark was about gender locks in general too.
Males tend to be the big muscular chad looking types and females tend to be mages and healers etc etc.
Furthermore I also already said lots of games do this for cost cutting reasons so lets not all go nutty.
Saying dead eye and gunslingers is the same class is not accurate, they are different so why not allows us to choose which gender your deadeye or gunslingers will be etc etc This was the main point of my post. No one was suppose to go all cray cray over my its a tad sexist remark.

Well if you haven't notice mate, males are sorta bigger than females. That doesn't mean females in Korean games are making sandwiches for their brave husbands. At no stage in feminism no woman has ever claimed they poses the same size or strength as men. What you described isn't sexism; how does that even work, I see you as a lesser gender so you are now an all powerful sorceress?
Regarding Lost Ark, Warrior classes doesn't have female at this moment but they teased it in December so that shouldn't take long. Rest of the classes have females. Mage class is also female only.
I mean if you REALLY want to interpret it that like that, then the current stage of Lost Ark means women aren't as macular as men in general, and men aren't as intelligent as women.

Mate unlike you I know what I am talking about. I have friends that are south korean and live there.
It's not like us here in NA and gender inequality is a real thing and is reflected very much in their games though it is getting better.
Lets just agree not to agree and move on I am not interested in turning this into a klash rant cause some few of you got triggered over some off hand remark.

I have lived and worked in South Korea for 3 years. But that is irrelevant to my point. I didn't say gender inequality isn't real nor I have said there is no gender inequality in Korea. We are talking about a specific approach in Korean MMORPGs.
Of course we can agree to disagree. But your "triggered" remark isn't fair. You claimed it was due to sexism. I believe it is not. You can't just keep repeating your opinion then shush others when they want to say their own piece.

Yeah mate, sub-classes are gender locked. Some already have some type of similar equivalent, some don't. What I meant by my comment was that this choice isn't due to sexism.

That's reading comprehension fail on your part as I said no such thing.
Go back and read my post again, if you take it in the context to which I was replying I was talking about gender locks in general and not talking about this game in particular.
However why tf and how do you think this approach came to be?
I will tell you, it's very much cause men are expected to be the main bread winners and women are very much expected to be the ones to stay home and raise the kids and make the sandwiches like how it used to be here in the 1950's. This is very much encouraged behavior.
However like I said this isn't the thread for this discussion. You do you and believe what you want but please no more stupid remarks like this one.

If anything I respect them more for going just a tiny little bit against the current trend where meh games get 7/10, okayish games get 8/10 and decent games get 9/10.
This one looks like a solid 4/10 based on the videos I have seen, but it is obviously too early for me to make any judgements.
I think there is a certain pressure to ride the hype wave when giving a review. State an opinion that is unpopular and you could lose readership.
I'd like to see a break down of games that got good reviews vs. games that got bad reviews charted against player base/longevity 6 months after the game released. LostArk sounds like a toot in the wind to me and I doubt it will have a player base in 12 months.
12 months is actually not a bad number, since lately MMORGPs have been tanking on their launch day!

this dude trying to say everquest and ff11 doesn't have mindless grind, by comparison lost ark requires less grind and less time than those mmos did, by far.
you will go through like half the game before you ever got 1 level up in everquest , this game you can nolife and reach endgame in 1 day
I was actually surprised how easy it was to level from 49 to 50, just basic fetch quests were giving me 30% to next level.

I think you either didn't read the review or missed the point.
In older MMOs, the journey was a major part of the game. The fact that getting from level 49 to 50 (essentially max level) is just another basic fetch quest is not a good thing.
In Runescape, you grind skills to access the next epic quest chain or to craft the next tier of whatever crafting skill you're grinding or unlock a powerful new spell. In WoW, you grind mats to prepare for the next big raid or wing of the raid your guild is currently on. In Albion you grind to improve your weapon proficiency or to be able to afford better weapons for PvP. All of the grind used to have a point that led to a memorable reward, not to simply grind mobs to eventually grind the next mob that has 5% higher stats.
In Lost Ark, the 'journey' exists as filler to propel you into the endgame, which then becomes the endless grind of sitting in town waiting for queues to kill the exact same bosses over and over or waves of random enemies that spawn in a tiny zone over and over. Then you upgrade your gear and do the exact same thing with slightly more difficult enemies.
