For those playing, how have you been finding your time so far? I'm not sure if there's another thread asking about player experiences so thought I'd just ask here.
oh he's the author, i guess thats why. dude reviewing an mmo before its even out. talking about "journey"
You also going to complain about the other 25 or so outlets that posted reviews the same day? Because they had access to the game for weeks before you did?

15 hours in and a lot better than expected. I usually REALLY dislike eastern games for the pastel color overuse but it's tolerable in LA because the gameplay is enjoyable enough be able to ignore the usual eastern game design annoyances. The alt potential is also something that probably won't be very good for my ADD and/or wrists..
I started playing the game yesterday during the headstart and I was hesitant at first because I typically don't enjoy Korean mmorpgs. However, after two play sessions I am level 26 and really enjoying the game. Yes, there are things I don't like (gender locked classes, excessive mini games etc.). However, the combat is fun and I'm really enjoying playing as a Deadeye. This class doesn't have a "charge meter" for special attacks, but rather three different weapons you can cycle between at will for different scenarios (dual pistols, shotgun, rifle). I have really enjoyed learning the class and the story is getting good. Also, in the NA version you start off at level 10 so, it's not a true 50 level grind. I recommend people try the game out for themselves and see if they like it. A review score of 7 seems fair, but I might have even gone for an 8 at my current point in the game. This may change when I hit end game. Regardless, I am having fun and enjoying things for now.
I will probably try gunslinger too, was also interested in paladin and reaper but repears isn't out yet.
Only thing I am annoyed by is that this looks like it is gender locked.
Aye, gender locked. The Bow user is only masculine.
Welcome to Asian games, I guess...
Aye I wish they would evolve though gender locks are so 1990's......not to mention a tad sexist..lol
It is not sexist unless the role is "traditionally" a women's, gunslinger is not exactly 'knitting lady' is it?
But I do think gender locks are annoying.
I regularly play female characters, more so in recent years but this time I avoided it because the models presented during character creation all appeared to be for the "Stripper" class which I can't relate to.

I have no problem with that sort of thing funnily enough.
Seriously though if you can have an avatar which is a child, that's the point where I start to ask what is going on? I note they don't have that in LA.

Yet. I noticed in the prologue cut scene story there was a child looking humanoid which his clearly teenage looking companion kept referring to as "old man" and the creature mentioned it was 500 years old.
So could that be a future "ancient" race of child like characters which may one day (or already are in Korea?) be introduced as playable by gamers?

I'm really enjoying it. The combat is so much fun and I've been doing some pvp in the arena and some duels with friends. First time playing this so I don't know what to expect going forward. I hit 50 today.
Little disappointed with the sailing, I was hoping for something like BDO's sailing but it's not the end of the world.
I currently have 29 hours in it so far and I'm having a blast.
In old MMOs with a required sub the grind was spread out heavily across the leveling journey to keep people subscribed longer. People grinded as hard as they could to get to a high enough level to be viable for top content and drops. They grinded hard because if not they would get left behind and wouldn't have anyone to help level with. It wasn't about the journey at all.
Grinding in SWG, EQ2 yeah. When I first started playing EQ2 the expansion zones were dead. For some of the content you needed a group and the guild I was in were all higher level and no one wanted to do older content, so you were stuck. Finding people to do older content with; was a chore. I quit playing eventually because of it.
SWG I leveled on Dath or Dantooine grinding Bazznitches or Pikets for weeks to level a toon. Was boring, but that's what MMO grinding was. Early days of Aion was no better. Again you needed to group up to go to the Abyys, but some people hated it there so it halted your progression.
Whether at the begining or at the end, MMOs are all about the grind. It just depends on whether you want to do it alone or forced to do it with other people.
People seem to have forgotten the old days sucked at times too.

Been watching a lot of videos of the game. And now I know why it's familiar. It plays like another eastern game MU Legends. Even some of the powers look the same.
Which I think really hurt the score of this review. I typically hate questing/leveling, but this game has some of the most fun ways of doing it. I absolutely love certain parts. The ones I don't care for, I just skip. The Annika zone was awesome. This zone can be skipped in the leveling process, but I'm glad I didn't. Not sure what the reviewer was expecting, but I think this game deserves a much higher score. Especially compared to what other games have received.

It's a headstart, it's easy to guess who the majority of players are at the moment: people who have already been playing Lost Ark through VPN, fans of this type of games, hyped players, etc.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Those people reviewed the game just like this site just did so why do they need to wait 6 months?
This game is 4 years old and has been one of the best and most popular mmos in the world for 4 years. Right now Lost Ark probaly has the highest amount of players that it will ever so whats going to change in 6 months? It will be the same game now that it is in 6 months. If we need to wait 6 months then tell that to the person that just reviewed the game and the other sites that have posted reviews.
Nah, you wait 6 months. Well keep the lights on for you.
What I want to know is if they fixed the controls. When I tried the beta, it was pretty much unplayable with a controller. If they can't or won't fix that, then I can't play, and nothing else about the game matters to me.

I played briefly with a controller and it seemed ok to me. I'm pretty picky when it comes to controls. Don't know if they fixed it or not though.

In the beta, it would recognize some particular controller. The controller support would not work at all with other controllers, so the only way to play with other controllers was to map a thumbstick to a mouse pointer that controls everything.
The fix is to offer WASD-style movement that can easily be mapped to a thumbstick or D-pad on an arbitrary controller, rather than it only working on whichever particular controller the game developers personally used. Have they done that?
Says its compatible with xbox controllers. That's what I have and works great. So likely no change on your end other than the "notice" on the controller layout screen.

I remain wary at this point.
