Ultra wide is not supported. I ran across that yesterday in an article. Try a quick google and you will see all the reddit complaints.

I'd like to know how things are on Xbox, been hovering over the buy button for a bit

had PC version stuttering mid-sprint while outrunning a trap that insta kills you if it touches you,
can't imagine why this game got so many 10/10s and glossed over performance issues like some day 1 patch will fix the problem.

I was excited by the trailers and was ready to purchase the PC edition, that is until I read about the wonky mouse/kb controls and no keybinding options.

No widescreen option and one reviewer stated the UI has all the conroller icons about making mouse/kb usage a mess.

Is it true about the controls? Do any of you think a dev or 3rd party solution to keybinding will be in the oft as well as widescreen?

    Trouble in paradise?

Seems like reviewers had their 10/10s locked in and no amount of messed up performance was going to change that.

I hate the hypocrisy when they use bad performance to knock down the scores of whatever suits them but then totally ignore it when they want to declare something best of all time come hell or high water.

I used Flawless Widescreen. If you follow the instructions, you can play it offline without Easy Anti-Cheat. Not only does it give you flawless ultrawide resolution, it also allows you to unlock the framerate, change FOV, and more.

I think it's because initially the stuttering wasn't as bad but the "day one patch" introduced the issue.

You mean reviewers get paid to give good reviews, even if the game is imperfect? This is news to me

Even ACG gave it an amazing review. However, once the day 1 patch happened and he realized that issues were introduced, he changed his "buy" rating for a "wait" rating.

As for me, stuff like this doesn't bother me so it's a non-issue. I however won't be doing the pvp so it really doesn't matter. For those who were really wanting to indulge in the pvp, it of course matters.

I experience a very minor stuttering. Even if it has no real impact on my current gameplay (I lose because I am bad, not because of the stuttering) it is noticeable and annoying.

The controls are the main culprit IMO. I would like to avoid playing with a controller, but I might do it because the game is clearly built around it.

Is the game perfect? No. Is that a worthwhile experience? Absolutely. The immersion is great. I mean, IMO rare are the games where epicness is a real thing. Here the monsters are colossal, fast, fearsome and viciously deadly. The combat when it is mastered feels incredibly rewarding. The game looks lengthy (and will be at least for me).

This game will set itself as a new standard for this type of game and for open world ones as well.

I will NOT refund it. This is an imperfect jewel, but a very unique one.

I don’t think I'd give the game a perfect 10, but the xbox version runs really well. Granted I'm on a series x, but still. I would suspect a lot of reviewers are basing their experience on the version they are playing.

I think consoles have the edge there because it's easier to build a game when you know the exact system specs and cards to build for.

    Except.. like..if you're playing cyberpunk on a ps4.

Yeah, I gave in and am using a controller. I suppose I could practice more with mouse and keyboard but I've found the controller to just feel better. I've had a lot of practice using it playing Dark Souls. However, like you, "I lose because I am "average" not because of stuttering.

Might, might be a little bad. But I feel a very profound "average." B)

You can rebind most things keyboard wise. They don't bother giving you keyboard prompts for things, everything is prompted as xbox controls. Fyi Z, X are lbutton rbutton. You can't rebind g which is interact.

The camera is made to respond to stick input. You can control it with the mouse, but it makes me feel somewhat not so fresh. Its like too sensitive in the small movements and not enough in the big movements. It it likes to correct and pan on you, if they just did something simple with it like an mmo camera would be better.

    Controller feels good though.

I'd probably put it around a 7.5. No more than 8. It's pretty good.  Frustrating at times.  Mostly fun until you've been through a lot of the areas, and then you learn where everyone is and their patterns and it gets kind of boring.  I have a good 20 hours in already,  so it's worth the buy to me.

Performance and servers aren't an issue on Xbox though so if that was a problem I'd probably do my personal score a couple points so it makes sense at a 6 for pc players with issues.

You should not have to switch to offline mode for a game to run. And doesn't this game feature co-op? Just nix an entire feature of the game and call it okay?

They dont like it cause its cheating in the online pvp.....however flawlesswidescreen.org  if you don't care about the online part of the game.

The messed up part is that it actually renders widescreen and then they black-band to limit the view. So you're paying the performance hit without the benefit. That is a cool little hack around the problem. Good info for those who need it.

PvP in this game seems idiotic anyway. The online GaaS aspect sounds equally idiotic. Doesn't matter to me anyway, this thing is a total pass for me regardless of the performance kludge.
There been some reports in steam that some peeps are being banned for the online part due to using flawlesswidescreen.  This is from the steam forums so it hard to know if that is really why etc etc but It worth mentioning that this may be a risk.  They can still pay offline, just not online.

I do believe previous soul game also had wide screen work around that fromsoftware blocked eventually so no wide screen support is not a new thing.

On another note my boy has been playing fine with his 1060 on a 3470k  however the game would crash when alt tabbing but playing in borderless windowed mode seems to have fixed that issue.

He is also playing with kb and mouse and has finally gotten use to the no animation canceling the game uses and managed to defeat two bosses so far!

I hate the hypocrisy when they use bad performance to knock down the scores of whatever suits them but then totally ignore it when they want to declare something best of all time come hell or high water.
If a reviewer played it only on console, then they wouldn't have experienced the performance issues. It wouldn't affect their score since the issues are mainly for the PC version, which is what I bought. I do get some stuttering occasionally, but still a 10 for me ^^

I have it on PC, got a good card, no framerate issues. BUT this game is so damn clunky on the pc it's not even funny. This game is designed, built and made for consoles, not pc. Against my better judgement I got it on pc instead of ps5.. huge mistake imo.

Metacritic breaks down reviews for the different platforms depending on which one it was reviewed on. There are plenty of 10/10 on the PC.

Stuttering also isn't the only PC issue. There is a host of other issues recently ranging from invisible enemies to crashes:
      https://www.denofgeek.com/games/elden-ring-how-to-fix-pc-performance-issues-bugs-glitches/

However that wasn't my point. My point is simply that you either include performance when rating a game or you don't. It's hypocritical to use performance problems in one game to knock down its score and totally ignore it for another game because you're fanboing all over the game or the superstar developer.

Pick one. Performance either contributes to the final score (I think it should, but that's just me who also thinks monetization should also be used) or it doesn't and be consistent with how you apply it,

I think reviewers should mention all bits and explain them within the appropriate context.

An amazing game isn't amazing if technical issues bog it down but having a game that is flawless with next to no technical issues doesn't make a game great.

That's why I like the reviewer ACG. He basically explains all the bits, gives his opinion, and at the end it's "buy, wait or sell/never touch again" and then of course the player can make an informed decision.

I'm playing the game just fine. Are there frame stutters. Yup. Doesn't really bother me. However, if I was playing it for pvp, as I mentioned before, that would be a huge issue.
