The upcoming open-world RPG set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, Hogwarts Legacy, is getting one of its first looks at gameplay this week. Set for March 17th on a special PlayStation State of Play, Warner Bros and Avalanche are showcasing the upcoming game set in the 1800s.

    While I really liked the movies I can't say I'm a die hard Harry Potter fan. Still, this looks like it's going to be fun.

    I really hope this brings back the feeling of the first games... Still have a dream of an open world sandbox MMORPG surrounding this franchise. But it's probably one of those impossible things to accomplish.

    The books and films were pitched at both kids and adults and they pulled that off really well. But that is really hard to do, they tried it in both of the first two Star Wars trilogies, worked the first time, not so well in the second. So I hope they can manage to find that kid/adult magic for the game, we shall see.

    Although I am not a huge Harry Potter fan this could be very good if they do it right. Open worlds are a preference of mine so hopefully they show the systems (stats / inventory / levelling style etc) in their 14-minute game presentation and its not all in game videos.

    I really hope this brings back the feeling of the first games... Still have a dream of an open world sandbox MMORPG surrounding this franchise. But it's probably one of those impossible things to accomplish.
    I would love a Harry Potter MMORPG.

    Even more than that, I would love just a regular ole open world multiplayer RPG set in the IP with a world like Elden Ring's to explore.  Me and my GF would really love that, especially if the character development and world puzzles were good.

    As fun as it might be... It is a hard skip on principle.

    Much like OW2 will be.

    Why are people saying this looks good, the trailer is just a bunch of cutscenes.  So how can you form an opinion?  The only features and gameplay discussions I could find are pure internet rumor based (and not verified).

    I hope it's a great game... and I'll watch the reveal... but why drink the kool-aid in advance?  Have we learned nothing here in MMORPG.com over years?

    If I missed a vital video or article of verified features/content/gameplay... please link them.  I just haven't found any.

    My boy might be into this if they make it half decent.

    Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
