Since Mortal Online 2 launched, it has dealt with several launch woes typical of new MMORPGs. For an ambitious re-imagining and improvement to Star Vault's previous Mortal Online that launched back in 2010, the team had their work cut out for them. So how has the experience been? Here is our final review.

An "MMO" without grouping. I don't think I ever thought of that before,
------------
2024: 47 years on the Net.
I'm not even a MO player and these are my thoughts/
I don't think you know enough about the game to be writing a review of it. I don't know how many hours you spent playing, or if you bothered to watch any streams or learn about the game, but your review is often misleading or downright wrong.
Firstly, there are other creatures in the Gamez aside from what you mentioned. There are also lizardmen, tribes of rat men, giant spiders, and dire wolves at the very least in addition to what you said. And that is what I've seen from my 40-is hours. So, I don't know where you went or what you were doing, but you're straight-up misinforming readers.
Second, you can master AT LEAST 2 professions (armory and Bowyer, or example), and quite a bit if you're specced for it as a human. You left this fact out for some reason. And the game is SUPPOSED to have you working with other players. It isn't a typical MMO where one player is able to do everything in the game. You're not supposed to be able to make all your own weapons, armor, potions, shields, etc. by yourself.
And your entire take on the combat is biased and rather ignorant. It's supposed to be a reactive and unique combat system, which if you actually participated in much, you would understand. It's not that complicated, and it's a much more interactive system than other MMOs. And trying to compare it to single-player or session-based multiplayer with a few players/server is misleading.
Lastly, your desire for grouping systems and enhanced player-finding shows a rather oblivious take on what the game is and ISN'T. It is NOT WoW, New World, or the like. It is built to provide a more throwback and RP-intensive experience. It doesn't seem like you've approached the game correctly at all.
While it could use more content overall and a few skill trees haven't been implemented, it doesn't warrant the terrible 4.0 rating you've given it. I think it's an insulting score and you've missed the point of the game almost entirely. And you've misinformed readers with a variety of incorrect or misleading information.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

But I think this quote summarizes it well: "Mortal Online 2 just feels, on the whole, like an unfinished game. Which largely it is. Between the lack of large-scale PvP and guild objectives like Territory Control, missing features such as cartography and the thieving system, as well as whole schools of magic like Necromancy – there’s so much that has been promised to players without seeing actual progress. "
They promised a second continent in the original game maybe a decade ago? Never happened. Now they are promising it again... Missing the core feature of Territory Control... again...
As said many times, these guys lost all expectations of getting the benefit of the doubt. Now they have to SHOW what EXISTS not what they say will come later... because history has shown that it very rarely does come IMHO.

On here?
This +3000:
"My personal take on the combat is that it still feels unpolished overall, and a lot of that has to do with the directional input system. There are a few ways to customize the combat to cater to different input styles, but none of the systems feel as intuitive as other like-systems"
The melee combat is really clunky, slow, and I have no reason to understand why on earth they will allow overhead (upper) and thrust (mid) attack & guard to be key bindable... but not left and right blocks/attacks. Give me right and left... PLEASE.
Instead you are locked into moving in the directions of attack/block or mouse flicking. Both systems I struggle to reliably do as I intend, and it is extremely frustrating not to be able to execute simple 4 way blocks/attacks as intended.
Right now I'm playing other games and just logging in every 50+hrs to equip a new skill book for offline leveling. I hope it improves.
I understand a 4 rating (for many of the reasons in the review)., we could quibble a 5... definitely not a 6+
FYI - the cooking crafting is so deep and complex... Alice... I went down a rabbits hole

I don't get why anyone from NA would still playing with that ping.
I want to love MO2, I have been waiting for it for a long time, and on paper it is the perfect game. Unfortunately, on paper and what is being developed are two different things. In my opinion, Star Vault is making the same mistakes they made in MO1. It seems they have learned nothing.
I think 4.0 is fair. I would have given it a 3.0 due to the fact it is being sold as a released quality game and it isn't even close to that.
A person can read the review, see the good things, see the pain points and then decide what is pertinent to their own wants/concerns.
Because the issues in the review are genuine issues. Whether or not that is enough to dissuade someone from playing is another thing entirely.

I think the two Wtf's took this as you saying MO2 is a rare game that feels fully polished.....lol
Because I don't get 250-300ms ping? I just tested my connection to India, which is about 8,658 mi from where I am. 236 ms ping. 94 ms connection to London, where the server is located. Not all of us are running on turd connections.
Respect, walk

When they have their next free trial (which they will) then I will go look for myself. No chance they ever get my money on promises again.

I gave MO:2 a solid 30 hours before I decided that it's not worth my time. Server issues, this vast and empty world that is just a huge waste of resources and peoples time. The biggest city in the game utilises like 30% of its space and the rest is just filled with useless assets. Lazy implementation of books, the economy where items value are based on how much they weight etc. I can keep going, but I think the point has been made over and over.
I LOVED Darkfall and I am craving that experience again so god damn much, which could have made me biased towards this game. I also am currently located 1km from their office, still I cannot justify what this game is. 15 years of experience and development and this is where we end up? Sure, it's a smaller team, but you should know better by now.

They had 8+ years to do that.
