I have to be honest with this review you showed you didn't play the game as intended inside the systems. You talked about PvE content but nothing about your feel on PvP. I feel thats because you got killed alot and didn't compete. If your horse was armored, you were paying attention and you had the damage to defend yourself and horse it wouldnt be as easy to lose.

You could have copy/pasted the 2010 review of MO1. It's the same exact game, missing the same exact features and experiencing the exact same problems at launch.

Star Vault is Hello Games but they never live up to their promises.

They're no better than the guys that released Darkfall, then rereleased Darkfall and required returning players to rebuy the game in order to keep playing. (Not one of the spinoffs, the actual game by the original Greek studio.)

In 12 years these guys weren't able to turn MO1 into something that was even worth playing as a FtP mmo, and still reselling the same game worked and generated a cash infusion into this horrid company.

    Good job, consumers.

I don't disagree with some of the cons and missing content etc. However it's hard to take a review of a sandbox MMO from someone who's favorite MMO is FF 14.

You really missed a lot of highlights like high skill ceiling pvp. Not just best gear and stats win. You yourself need to practice, duel, and pvp to get better.
Smaller groups working together well can win fights double their numbers.

I played the first one and it was just bad all around. I had my suspicions the second was gonna be pretty much a copy paste of the first one and I'm thinking I'm right.

FF14 is a solid game with the lack of a proper competitor. And if you are after PvP, yeah MMORPGs haven't been shining in many years.

I feel putting out a review by an individual is becoming very archaic. One persons review could have such a big impact on a game. A game like this needs a different approach, you cannot compare it to typical mmo's in the same way people should not compare Elden ring to Ubisoft games.

I'm not even a MO player and these are my thoughts/

Don't worry, only like 20 of us are still on this webpage.

You mean all 20 MO2 players are on this website? Or is this some indirect snarky comment about something else? A review is a review, you don't have to agree.

    /Cheers,
    Lahnmir

It's not a review, it's a single individuals opinion. Very different things.

4.0 is about right, maybe even a bit generous.
Coming from someone who owns the collector edition of the first game, which wasted me some money, and played the beta of this one, which saved me some money.

I too feel like I claimed my money back from MO1 by not buying into MO2 lol

FF14 is a solid game but comparing themepark like that to a full loot sand box with pvp at its core is like comparing a racing game to an fps shooter. They both can be good and have there player base but the only thing in common is thousands of players playing.

You don't have to be a fan of a genre to form an opinion of whether or not a game is bad or not.  Case in point, I've never gotten very far in any Dark Souls or Souls-like game before (stop playing DS3 at first noob boss after dying to it for an hour) yet I now have over 100 hours in Elden Ring and I'm getting ready to put in a few more very shortly.

Very true. It doesn't matter how many people dislike a terrible..terrible... awful game. If you like it, play it as long as you can.

Mortal Online was a horrendous game, full of uncountable bugs and designed in an obtuse way.. all the while feeling like the developers couldn't get a handle on the engine.

Mortal Online 2 is... the same thing.

    I'm only slightly surprised.

Pretty sure MO2 is inherently still MO1.

That was actually their biggest mistake.  They should have focused on the new continent they promised a decade ago.  It was supposed to be NA based.

Instead they pretty much just launched a buggy, feature missing version of Mortal Online Remastered with improved graphics but worse performance.

Oh there's sand in this game, it just got into all the nooks and crannies you hate sand getting into.. Still a firm believer that 3d open world sandbox games are not the way to go, you need 2d/2.5d top down to be done right.

It was a HUGE red flag when they didn't have a stress test in the 6 months prior to launch. (guessing on that time, but it was LONG).  It told me that they were not confident in the game's reception.

When they have their next free trial (which they will) then I will go look for myself.  No chance they ever get my money on promises again.

Get your facts right before posting rubbish please, they had multiple stress tests.

Ok.  When was the last one?  It was MONTHS before launch. And it was MONTHS before they installed the launch server configuration.  Go prove me wrong.

    You can’t.

Rated 4/10 and it has somehow provided the most memorable and fun moments in any game I've played in the past couple years. The game has issues for sure, but it will provide you over $40 worth of tools for entertainment if you know how to enjoy sandbox games.

I don't think the reviewer understands the game, or even put any time into exploring the game. Average player review is close to 10 but this reviewer gave it a 4?! Something not right there. I definitely will not be using this website in the future based off this fail of a review.
