What type of player are you ?

Hi everyone,
This is a little exercise to let us all know what type of player you are.

I would like to use Ashes of Creation platform in a perfect setting that is built in a fully flushed out game, where it has PvE, PvP and the nod system where the players fight for control of land mass where the players build an empire. Their will be leaders, people taking charge of development, Guild masters, workers, builders, gathers, defensive PvP protectors and Offensive PvPers, out taking new lands. Some would simply be happy playing a few hours at night and going with the flow, where others are making a life within the game to be the ultimate ruler of their faction.

I'm asking everyone to be creative using their Imagination to show us what type of player you are.

For your reference here are the classes:
Mage, Summoner, Cleric, Bard, Fighter, Tank, Ranger, and Rogue

Me:
I will be a Rogue explorer where I would stay in somewhat safe areas, but pushing the boundaries of some PvP.  I'm not the type that likes to be in charge but more of a follower that likes taking orders...... Through out the years, I've found myself less tolerant of playing games for long sessions at a time, along with being susceptible to seizures. So would be happy with randomly logging in and going with the flow of the present situation.

So what type are you ?

    Oh, this is easy, clearly

OK, in the spirit of the thread I harken back to DAOC's Minstrel, (Bard) possiblity my all time favorite class / character.

I prefer a jack of all trades role which can use it's skills to well support a group, which the Minny had in spades.

It increased group (and personal) travel speeds by a tremendous factor (50% plus), had a mana restoration song to play while the group rested (remember when that was a thing?)

It was very rogue like, being able to stealth and climb Keep walls creating a mini game with enemy stealthers (who could see me before I saw them) to try and get in a quick gank and hit the gas trying to get away before being knifed to death.

Could do an area mez, 3 second stun, twist (another ancient concept) multiple combat buffs by switching instruments in flight and best of all, I got to stand at the head of the line when running anywhere with everyone /stuck to me.

Which meant when I fell asleep in my recliner (at least that's what I always told everyone) I would sometimes run the group off a cliff or into deep aggro where great hilarity would often ensue. (best if done with friends, pugs not so appreciative)

    I really was an A**hole.  ;)

I guess a Fighter or Tank, but I would need to know more about the classes before picking. I am always an explorer it is one of the reasons I don't level as fast as I should. :)

I have led guilds but prefer to be an officer in them, if you have enough good officers it is really not that onerous. Never a crafter, though I do gather resources especially if they are needed to make the likes of a guild HQ.

I've never been an officer, mainly because I never liked commitment. However I'm great at getting groups together for when I am playing.  Still loyal and never leave the group.

Like you say, I need to know more about the classes, but A rogue is my style, if I'm out questing or gathering, so I can pop out of site quickly..... Maybe stab them in the back a few times:)

Hmmm, that sounds similar to my "Militia PvP System." Or at least the basic concept.
I like it. Not sure about the rest of the game though, as I haven't checked it out thoroughly.

Me, I would probably be a Ranger and/or a Mage. I love both "classes" generally.
I also would like a Cleric that's based on the D&D version, with fighting skills that can be enhanced with magical items, and healing and a few offensive abilities.
(I'm not a big fan of classes built around Buffs.)

I'd want to participate in the community aspects, but not in a leadership role.
By nature, I'm more of a solo player. But I do enjoy some community activity too.
I really enjoy getting to know a lot of other Players, who they are, what things they excel at, who makes what and does what, all of that.

I'd like to do some of the things you've mentioned. Gatherer, in particular.
But my main vision of my Characters in an MMORPGs is digging into things in search of discoveries. Learning things about the game world, and hopefully it's mysteries.
Games don't offer much of that, to my disappointment.

Mainly, I don't like to be tied down to a role. I want freedom in my game play to do what I want, not what the game has in mind, by design, for me to do.

    Once upon a time....

Summoner. Utilizing pets to fight and create pressure, whilst maintaining proper positioning, brings me great delight.

I like PvE and PvP. Solo play is preferable, which may be why I like pet classes. The company without free will lol.

If a games profession system is in-depth, you'll find me at its deepest depths. Spreadsheets, databases, Discord Bots, and even an API for my guild to use once upon a time. nothing brings me greater satisfaction than gathering/crafting and calculating where I can maximise profit vs time spent. I'm just salivating at the idea right now.

My first go to choice is always some sort of "Holy Knight" so Paladin/Cleric of some sort.

When I think of classes that I'm most like, there are a few games with classes that come to mind. Probably the closest out of the box class that really got me was the Warrior Priest from Warhammer AOR.

I like being able to play a balanced role. I solo a lot of the time so I like to be able to face tank if I need to, but I like the ability to heal myself and others if the need arises. It brings me a lot of joy to take on aspects of carrying teams, even if I'm not always the best at everything, I like to know that whatever I'm doing at the moment, I'm at least being helpful and useful.

The warrior priest let me do that. I could take aggro and tank if I really had to, or I could heal others. There was a lot of balance to the class. Even thought the whole "cleric/priest/religious" route doesn't really resonate with me, I'm closer to a jack of all trades player. When it comes to how I treat MMOs though, I usually play hard until I burn out, and these days burn out happens faster and faster since most games can't be bothered to think about lasting content prior to launch.

I don't really think that "what type of player am I?" matches up with the classes you listed. Who I am and how that translates to classes doesn't make much sense.

So, I will say that I am an endgame all-rounder and a reluctant leader.

I enjoy a challenge and I like playing with other people, so I live at endgame as that is where both these things exist in greatest quantity. I'm an all rounder, as I enjoy PvP and PvE and will take part in any number of activities. I'm a reluctant leader: I'd prefer not to lead, but sometimes taking charge is the only way to get shit done.

Part of the description Delete is giving has me thinking of BDO. To address what is being asked, none.  I don't care much for games that have multiple factions, even if they are player based. Why? Because at PvP I basically stink. Tried it in WoW, FFXIV and even B&S. In every case, the fights were the shortest in video game history. My kind of PvP is like Wintergrasp in WoW. Massive and my failing wont have a big impact on my side one way or the other.

A lot of my class choice is going to depend on how I expect to play the game.  If I'm going to try to be group-first and all social like, I'll probably opt for a crowd control or healer class, with a light tank as an option.  If I expect to be mostly solo, I'll go for a ranged class.  I will tank, but that generally relies on a healer class or self-healing.  I'm not much on games with self-healing skills/potions.

    But PvP, no thank you.

I'm such a casual player of MMORPGs now that I invariably play solo.  When I do bother to play, my gaming time is limited and thus I can't be bothered to waste my limited time to form/join a group and hang around while everyone achieves their various objectives.  I like to play summoner-type classes so I have some expendable backup while I enjoy playing the game alone.

If I'm supremely not judged, I'd go straight down into bard or some such.  Explorer definetely,  But I like to entertain and trick in the say, jovial setting.  Combat.  Misdirection straight out.  Look over there *KNIFE TO THE SPLEEN* 92 knifes in the air *CAN'T SEE NONE OF EM COMING*  I mean if I could multi it'd definitely be Tank,Bardish.  I Distract and coerce enemies into stabbing easily healed areas... hopefully' while I, with a wink in my eye stabby stabby between em.

What type of player are you? - The best player , of course! :)

But .. I'm a PvPvE player at heart. My first MMO was Runescape, where you could go into Wilderness and kill other Players for Full Loot ( or almost ). My hands were shaking when I was in Wilderness, especially when there were lots of other players around. I though every other MMO out there had the same mechanics.

I was disappointed when my second MMO, MU Online, didn't had the same mechanics and when I saw that they didn't drop anything if you killed other Player.

I had a blast in Aion, with their PvPvE settings. I ..felt at home.

As for Roles, with time, I started to..PlayThemAll. Last one was healer ( never ever played one ), until in Shadowlands when I made this lovely Shaman, so now I ..kinda like all 3!

I generally play a solid healer class unless they are useless and not consequential to a group then I opt for either Mage or Tank.  I am usually guild lead, but as I get older have been leaning officer route due to time.

OW PVP doesn't really seem my style anymore.

Powergamer. I want the best equipment for my characters and I want to learn to play them optimally.

I dont think the thread title and the thread content match though.

Didnt we already just have a thread about what kind of characters you like to play ?

P.s.: Oh and yes just as in the last thread.

I still like tanks, healers, melee dps and wizards.

Dont like archers, dont like stealth play, and dont like the weirdo druid spellsets.

Heh, I suppose, except that many seem to want to group at endgame so I become more divergent at that point.

I'm kind of the jack-of-all-trades too. Although if I do play a specialized toon, it is usually a ranged attack mage or a healer. I don't play tanks or melee fighters much. Buffing, debuffing, mezzing, pets, healing, damage, are all fun.

What I like is a large choice of powers to use, and the skill is picking which one to use in which circumstance. Like Kyleran, I played a mini in DAOC and that fit my playstyle very well.

So I'm disappointed in controller-centric games like ESO or NW.  Both of those have very limited powers to choose from at any one time. I did play almost every class to 50 in ESO, but I still wish it let me play my preferred playstyle.

Crafting is something I really enjoy, if it is done right. PvP, even full loot, is also something I have enjoyed, although I hate open-world forced PvP full of gankers.
