I picked up Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD remaster. I cannot recall why I forgot to get it when it came out but there was a good discount so I got it.

    Craftopia.

    Legend of Keepers for now.

Let me know how SMT3 goes for you. I was wanting to pick it up but some people say it has questionable performance on pc and even though I love P4G, its still a nightmare for me to start up sometimes with so many random crashes. That does make me a little concerned for P5R

I bought Pathfinder: WotR, and wish I hadn't.  I've never seen more terrible combat difficulty pacing than in that game.  Like, things don't even make sense based on what the game developers are telling you via their UI tutorials.  I've no idea how it scored so highly.  It's a prime example of a studio not keeping their heads on their shoulders and realizing that, in the end, they're making a video game, not a tabletop campaign.  Playing that game is like playing with a DM who both doesn't know what he's doing, and who is an asshole.
I loved Pathfinder WotR but only because I restarted 4 times after a few hours and I thoroughly checked out builds. So my play through was relatively painless after I understood what was going on and I was very slow and methodical.

The harder bits I would use turn base and easier ones real time with pause. I also managed to force my party to make it through many areas to almost the point of exhaustion. I felt sorry for the party.

You cannot play these games in my opinion without some idea of what works until you get a good grasp of the mechanics. I found the game really good but encountered a terrible bug halfway through and I decided to wait for a patch to fix it.

Some battles took almost 90 minutes to complete.
What gets me is the Paladin companion you get as a tank at the beginning gets one-shotted by the first main quest (mini?)boss, with the difficulty tuned to "slightly weaker enemies" and party incoming damage tuned to 90%.  That's bonkers.

I rolled an Armored Hulk to match with her Paladin tank skills, and Hosilla literally just one-spotted each character in term after powering up and that was that lol.  Over and over.  I literally had no other skills or buffs to use, I think you're only level 2/3 by the time you get there.

Congrats that with the earlier lizard fight where the game tries to warn you away by telling you it might be too hard...  Where my party got through with barely a scratch.  It was maddening.

Hossilla does kill someone but I killed her. Setting was slightly weaker. I rested a lot though and I even kited and killed that water elemental before her. That was way harder than Hossila. Make sure you get that good sword for your pally. Lots of loot easy to miss without a guide. Cook that recipe too when you rest that helps a bit. I played a cavalier and that lizard chap Lann had a pet too and basically he was the only one who managed to kill the water elemental with his bow. I think I reloaded on that 10 times. I had very bad rolls with that water elemental.

Oh and get some animals that can trip. I cleared the whole place before Hossila.

Steam summer sales, or any sales for that matter, if its a game you really wanted to buy then fine, i've got too many games in my Steam collection and i barely play any of them, its a bit like going shopping in a mall, you see lots of things that they are desperately trying to sell you, with offers claiming to be special deals and its a new shiny thing that you absolutely must have to make your life complete! So you buy them, but when you get home, you are left with something you probably wouldn't have bought because you have no real use for.  :D
    Welcome to the forums! :)

I played both Tiny Tina's (PS5 splitscreen) and Remnant (GamePass for PC) before I bought them. I know what I'm getting into and that I like them. Whether I'm able to finish them or not isn't a consideration for me. I'll try, but if I can't or don't, then I don't. I like them and am playing them. That is what matters to me now.

I know right? Like I did some research, tested the games out, and decided to buy what I liked. Most people just buy something because the cover art is cool.

    Tokken said:
I had the same problem... I would buy games and never play them. That's why I am so picky about buying games now. I wish I could get my money back for some of the "impulse" buys I have done. I have deleted some of the games from my steam account. I mainly buy MMO's now because I like playing with others.
This is just one of the reasons I like GamePass for PC so much. I used to buy a lot of games blindly and hoped for the best. Now I can try out a lot of games before deciding. Often I just play the entire thing on GamePass and call it done. It has saved me a lot of money.

AI: The Somnium Files is an interesting visual novel I might have bought on this sale but it's on GamePass so I just installed it there.
I wasn't poking fun at buying games you like, just the idea of not finishing them.

I'm OCD compulsive when it comes to finishing things that I started, novels, TV series, games, always only one at a time, always to the bitter end before moving on.

Even when I play MMOS, I never create an alt until any previous character is at max level plus and I've more or less done it all on it.

You remember how my main in FO76 was well over level 500 before I started a 2nd alt, and I still only have two characters in 18 months of steady playing (mule characters not withstanding)

    "I need to finish."

Same here, does that make me an evil genius too? Here is one for you, a friend told me he started reading a book, got in a couple pages and thought "this is boring". So he read the last page and thought "yep I was right." I nearly choked on my beer. Now I have read a first chapter and thought this book is not for me, but a couple of pages? Even when I have decided I am "shelving" the book, I would not look at the last page. I know this sounds strange but I would regard that as disrespectful to the author.

You didn't go down to the lower floors. The water elemental is there. That Earth one is nothing compared to the water elemental. Plus there is a lot of loot you missed.

One thing about this game is that you need to explore everything before the boss fights to help you with those fights.  Plus at least here in this part there are no time limits. In the latter part you will be time constrained in the worst possible way and if you do not complete certain stuff it will screw you later. Mainly why I used a guide.

That is why I restarted so many times as I was unhappy with what I missed and failed to do. These games I can spend easily 200 over hours in. That is why they are totally worth it to me. I suppose for some people they may really not like to play like that and that is understandable.

Further on there are also places where you can change the outcomes like 10 times with different options. So there is a lot to do and experience but only if you enjoy these types of games.

I absolutely adore the videos done by Werglia who has such an amazing romance with CRPGs. If you don't want to try every outcome check his videos.

I don't recall ever even seeing another avenue.  I checked the map to be sure before heading up the stairs to the encounter.

All in all, it struck me as a game far too into its tabletop roots to the detriment of actually enjoying the game.  Some design decisions made no sense: you restrict party movement speed by item weight, but then include a system where you don't have to loot anything because it will let you select from all the loot at the end of the instanced area anyways.  Then what's the point?  Just remove the encumbrance system, instead of creating two systems for the sake of making looting harder for the player to manage.  It just made me want to go play the Pillars series again.

    There are some secret entrances.

You won't be able to loot many of those dropped items in any case because you will not be able to move from fatigue and encumbrance. OCD person like me actually goes back and pick every item I can sell so it's a blessing for the folks like me and may be a quality of life change from the table top experience.

I can say with definite assurance that there a lot of things I dislike about the game but I also find many things I do love too. Overall the love overcame the dislike. I also encountered some bad bugs too. I think I'm at 120 hours in may be.

In general I do play my games like even Atelier games to nearly 100 hours even when many can finish them at 30 hours. I like to take my time and craft a lot in the Atelier games and I enjoy mixing up the party and playing with all the party members.

In some ways I am glad they are bringing back the old PS2 and PS3 games to the PC at cutthroat prices but hey I played them so long ago I cannot even recall most of them now and it will be like playing them again.

I do love turn based games a great deal so I forgive a lot and my rose tinted lenses are a tad gaudy.

I have waxed poetic on many games here and I may repeated myself without realising it but thankfully the people who read my posts are equally old and forgetful.

It just didn't fit my tastes.  It seemed like the game was balanced for a very specific meta, and I saw online many players reporting that most hybrid classes do poorly.  It seemed to me the game suffered because the devs were too devoted to mimicking the tabletop rules without realizing DMs are rhere to couch those rules and help the party navigate it for a fun time.

Not much of a sale, but I bought WH40k: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters.

It is the perfect game if in XCOM1/2 you've got PTSD from a failing shot at 90%. Here they never miss. Damage is just modified by distance/cover etc.

Some folks love DE, but had I realized it had no combat I would have not had my family buy it for me one Christmas.

I tried it for a few hours but was too much like those old Sierra adventure games.

Besides, I am OC so have to know I'm making the "best" answer or decision which as far as I can tell isn't really possible in this game.

All roads lead forward, and it's the variety it offers some enjoy, for me it leads to decision paralysis.

If every choice makes little difference in terms of power progression, why make any choice at all, including playing the game.

Just not my style but you might enjoy.

I bought a game called Foxhole.  A persistent WW2 wRgame.  Gets good reviews, persistent (which I like), WW2 (which I like), graphics?  Dated but fine.

Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't realised this had released yet! Now downloading :-)

I really enjoyed the original Chaos Gate, apart from the 90s graphics the gameplay still holds up with modern tactical games. Plus, you know, it's WH40k, which is a superior IP to xcom :P

I haven't bought anything else in the sale, nothing has really grabbed my fancy. I'm still enjoying WAR RoR, that's taken up most of my gaming time for the last few months. I'm also still waiting for Total War WH3 to release their proper campaign mode later this year, I know that'll eat up at least 300 hours!

Is there a good 40k multiplayer game?  Of all the franchises that I would love to have a GOOD multiplayer game it would be 40k.  There are plenty of not so good ones because they sell themselves to anyone with a dollar.

This guy does a lot of hybrid builds too and his builds are solid if you want to check them out

    Thanks for the link!
Does Pathfinder: Kingmaker have the same problems with hybrids aka paladins?

Everything is dependent on what difficulty you are playing on and whether you turned on the death mechanic which places a debuff on the party member when they die once. It can make the run very challenging but I found it too tedious so I turned it off. I would have been unable in my opinion to get all the (cannot spoil so nvm) well safe to say that that debuff makes everything take more time.

Most of the hybrids work fine but at higher difficulties you have to have an in-depth knowledge of the game so usually people play on higher difficulty after playing it once or twice otherwise it might become an exercise in frustration. There is truly a great deal of benefit garnered through multiple playthroughs.

Not much of a sale, but I bought WH40k: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters.

It is the perfect game if in XCOM1/2 you've got PTSD from a failing shot at 90%. Here they never miss. Damage is just modified by distance/cover etc.

I don't really know of any good 40k multiplayer games. There have been a few attempts at MMOs but none of them made it to release.

The closest I can think of is Dawn of War 2. I've put many hours into their last stand mode, a 3 person horde-style mode. Good mechanics and unlocks/progression, but only 2 maps
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman
