Unbanned hmmm. Good day for it.

"GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 11, 2022-- GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) (“GameStop” or the “Company”) today announced that it has launched its non-fungible token (“NFT”) marketplace to allow gamers, creators, collectors and other community members to buy, sell and trade NFTs. The Company’s NFT marketplace is a non-custodial, Ethereum Layer 2-based marketplace that enables parties to truly own their digital assets, which are represented and secured on the blockchain. The marketplace, which can be accessed at https://nft.gamestop.com, allows parties to connect to their own digital asset wallets such as the recently launched GameStop Wallet. Over time, the marketplace will expand functionality to encompass additional categories such as Web3 gaming, more creators and other Ethereum environments."

In other words. The market place is in line with the current NFT market. It will be on Ethereum. You will be able to use an existing MetaMask wallet, or create a GameStop wallet quick and easy.

It's a beautiful site that's as smooth silk. You may not use it, but every kid across america will. This is a large step forward for the culture.

They don't have the resources to go against the giant online game stores. That leaves interesting options their only chance.

Interesting news. But how NFTs are a huge step for the culture?

PS: BTW the Core Engine implemented NFT APIs in a previous build.

Just stick around this time.   The site is lessened when you (and others) get banned.

I have no problem with NFT.  I'm not ready to jump in, but I have no inherent bias against the idea.  I read an article last week I think about GameStop being in trouble.....again.  this reeks of desperation I. Their case

Not sure what they're going to be selling exactly.

It just doesn't make much sense... at least not if they're going to be selling avatars and stuff like that.

If they were using NFTs as digital proof of purchase/ game authentication method... that actually makes sense but in order for that to work you need the games to be built with that in mind.

So really this just feels like they're going to give anything that might make money a shot at this point.

It won't thought, the crypto market is trending down hard. Since it's not regulated the same as other investments; it's going to fail and may not recover the same. Partially due to global inflation, and a looming recession since the pandemic.

Anyone getting into it now would be crazy. Values are falling by the second. Folks like BC are nothing more than shilling to keep interest and save their investments. Some are paid by small firms to spam twitter with this nonsense; or just bots.  Really they are comparable to the band who played during the Titanic sinking. Best to ignore them, get on the lifeboat if you have to. Honestly it's not even worth discussing here anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, you're wrong on a few points.

NFT's are trending down... but trade volumes are still pretty good, especially in gaming.

To kind of make the point, gaming NFT's in 2020 traded around 20K a week. During the height of this "crash" gaming NFT's traded 227K just last week alone, or the equivalent a 900% increase in trade volume.

Those are just the facts based on trade tracking theblock.co, which has a lot of stats from week to week.

It is important to keep it in perspectice, that at the highest weekly trade total was nearly 700k a week. So yeah, it's down a lot from it's highest, but still a lot higher than it was 2 years ago.

If anyone does plan to get into blockchain now, they should look at the projects and only "invest" in projects that have utility and those that they believe in. Since most people don't know how to determine which blockchain projects are worth it, it would be stupid to invest based on any "experts" recommendations.

My main point is, the only time you should spend any money on NFT's is because

1 - you are playing a game that either requires them, or you really like them for cosmetics
2 - you for some reason like an art NFT and you are buying it because you like it and not because you want to profit from it
3 - you see a necessary utility. Like the token is attached to something important. music, documentation, proof of purchase, etc.

If you don't have a real use case for an NFT you should never buy it. Ever.

Damn, next time I level up I need to invest more in Stamina, because I surely lack it compared to you and your tireless correcting of all the misinformation/misinterpretation when it comes to crypto. The world is on fire but ‘crypto is failing,’ I am already exhausted when I read that reasoning.

I still haven't seen NFTs have a real use case.

The biggest claims with ownership and cross play really hasn't materialized since a) most games still rely at least in part on traditional servers and tech and b) every game wants to issue their own NFTs/tokens to profit from.

And we already run the fun hurdle with games being published to Blockchain being a bit antithetical to the nature of live services which need regular maintenance. Even just tweaking and debugging needs to be achievable, which can I definitely delay any promise to publish a game fully onto any Blockchain.

It's just impractical at best, and isn't actually providing a mechanical benefit to the end user.

I really don't see what is wrong with having one poster who reflects the madness that is is NFT's and crypto. In fact it is from his threads that I worked out how detrimental to gaming these developments are. We have fanbois of F2P P2W gambling games on here, so why not this?

Specially when stuff like "This is a large step forward for the culture." is said. These fanatics just can't stop their belief in NFTs. It's straight up a cult.
