Chimeraland, the open-world MMORPG from Level Infinite, has officially launched today across PC (via Steam) and mobile devices. The MMO leans into Eastern Mythology and legends, bringing players to a world of prehistoric creatures to survive.

Game is very survival like. There's a hunger mechanic. Seems to feel like an MMO, but I have no idea how many players to an area.
Part of it is settling in part of the world. In my little area there are 5 other settlements within a short walk. Another dozen if I ride my mount further. No loading screens between them. And that's just one small part of one of the continents. There's also a pve battle arena where I've fought with another handful of players. No telling the max number allowed.
The world is huge though.
I'm really low level so I don't know how it changes when you get to a higher level, or if there's large scale battles or anything. Game is pretty good so I'm going to stick with it.
Really wanted to give it a go but going to wait to see if they get the PC version going any better. Seems like it stutters a lot even for people with gaming rigs that are way above specs.
Most common complaint I have seen is the game will not even start on my gaming rigs at all.
So What Now?
Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Yeah if you can get past the PC port jank, its pretty good time sink at least. But that's if you're into more survival-like titles or always wanted to try one. If you're not a fan, it might not be up your alley, but there is a good bit of freedom so its not bad to at least try it out
I have to query it myself if it has a hunger mechanic, that pushes it too far into survival MMO to be a proper MMORPG. But you know how fussy we get about the label.
If it gets decent on the PC I might take a look at it though as I do play games other than MMORPG's.
It is a press release. A dead giveaway (other than the title) should be the line that reads, "Via this morning's press release."
Yes, it does have a hunger mechanic. You don't need to eat as often as most survival games, but it is possible to die from starvation if you go long enough without eating. Cooking is a big part of the crafting side of things and there are a bunch of recipes to discover for specific buffs, and if that isn't your sort of thing you may not like the game. Hit me up on the Phoenix Bay server (Splatter, Westmount continent, currently on Westerus Island) and I'll toss you some food so you can explore for a bit without having to worry about that part of the game.
The creation mechanic is quite unique, but players tend to like to play humans or the most human looking race, this is a dive into the deep end and hopefully helps shake that up.
I've probably only hit my build cap once, and then I spent a lot of time just farming to get my home up to level 10 and now I'm basically being forced to build out if I want to progress.
No, there's an energy system in the game that pretty much expends whenever you do things in game, like gathering and stuff (similar to Archeage's Labor system if you're familiar with it). At the start of the game, it seems like a lot but you start to notice it a lot more and how slow you get it back over time compared to how much of it you spend (kind of par for the course with systems like this I guess). I just didn't know if there was a way around it outside of waiting (but even Archeage had labor potions at one point, honestly haven't played it in years though). Granted you can always buy some of the stuff instead of gathering it yourself, but meh.
Maybe I'll run into that problem in a bit. Hopefully you find a way around it and you can let everyone know!
Yeah, admittedly I got addicted to the building aspect of this game so I was gathering a TON, but that did ruin my flow a bit. I do think it wont be a problem earlier-mid game for players, but those totems seem to be the main way to progress and get certain items (like for repairing your gear), so depending on how much they cost down the line, late game can get hamstrung. I do hate how more of these games do stuff like that by front loading you with so much 'stuff' at the start then by the time you're invested time-wise, you notice how much more of it you need later. That aside, the building is so addictive. I saw a guy working on a castle and teamed up with someone else to make a courtyard semi close to it. really fun game for that aspect alone.
The game players a little worse on mobile for aiming combat but for the most part I prefer it.

The foundation tab is definitely bugged in the sense that each thing you place is 2 slowflake things or w/e they are called instead of actually 1, which I didn't realize until later. Incase anyone didn't know the '~' key brings up the mouse.
Still having fun. I haven't hit any stamina cap or anything yet either. Probably because I spend a lot of time exploring instead of gathering. I keep finding that I have to travel pretty far for some things. It takes about 10 minutes travel time just to get ice.
