With my Experiences playing various MMORPGs over a Sat connection I would have to go with Star Wars Galaxies, Everquest 2 and Dungeons and Dragons online. All 3 were playable at least using the Sat connection. Star Trek Online was also decently playable but not quite as friendly to the lag spikes compared to the other 3.
World of Warcraft, Rift, Guild Wars 2, The Old Republic were all too laggy to be called playable.
Really any of the faster combat/action MMORPGs wear nearly unplayable on a Sat connection and played better on Dial up lag wise. Sat was great foir getting the updates downloaded tho.
I think the point of this fanciful experiment is to suppose that your satellite connection is good enough to play any current or past MMOs. I don't think the focus of the little game was to determine which games work best on high-latency connections. Nice flex tho.
50 Shades of Grey Online, of course. Wait, so far does not exist.
Lord of the Whips online, then. Nope, does not exist.
World of Wh**craft maybe? Nope, still does not exist.
Out of options. Would live without mmos, to become world-known celebrity. "One who lived so many years without internet", they would say. "Respect for one who managed to surrive without following celebrities and influencers and survived without xxx".
But, eh - you're forgetting about the transdimensional wormhole satellite data service you signed up for before you left. At worst you have a 55 ms ping.
Of course, because you're out of your normal service area your bill will be triple the normal cost.
You could contact customer service, but in order to change your service address you have to sign a new contract. You have to ask yourself, would it be worth the hassle?
Enjoying the conversation all, thanks for keeping this very real scenario grounded to reality! Happy posting!
Kidz .. totally forgetting history, the ansible was first "invented" by Ursela K LeGuinn in 1966.
Was later used by multiple authors including Orson Scott Card where in Ender's Game, a character states that "somebody dredged the name ansible out of an old book somewhere".
My three games,
EVE - 10 years of fun, might as BOGO it. Albion Online, a game I should have played. FO76 - My favorite IP and because"it just works."
Just trying to live long enough to play a new, released MMORPG, playing New Worlds atm

It does exist. It's called "VRChat", where all of this is possible and frequently being done ;-)
Satellite internet? First thing I will want to know who put the satellite in orbit if the planet is deserted. Second, why are we assuming that we're limited to past Earth-bound MMORPGs? Maybe, some distant civilization has got to have something better to offer.

The only TRUE answer is Star Citizen. This is the one game that we are 100% sure will still be under development 10 years from now.
