Ark Survival Evolved 1 is shutting down all events.

These are the last two events it will have.  Extra Life Charity and Halloween Event.  After that there will be no way to collect colored dinosaurs.  They are probably planning to milk Ark1 and it will become a ghosttown.  It's riddled with Chinese money traders and Chinese hackers who have broken both pvp and pve. 

I cannot say I am happy about Ark 2 anymore.  I might have had a different attitude if I had other games besides Ark I cared about.  This is the only 3d fancy game with roaming mobs.  The mobs spawn in unpredictably.  Are worthy opponents.  And there is something in Ark for the weak lazy player and the hyped up crazy ass accomplishment people.  I can't find that in a game anywhere else.  

I personally ride an iguandon.  All other games force me to ride a horse.  I am not wanting to go back to riding horses after riding a fast lizard that jumps way in the air and turns on a dime.  There will never be another mount in any game that felt as good as an igu in Ark 1 did.  I doubt the current Wildcard devs will know how to replicate this.  They broke the original game by making everything to easy destroying the balance.  I have no faith they have a clue how to make a game.  Yet they are throwing Ark 1 out for the sake of Ark 2.

You likely won't be able to play those events without tears, so you would do well to be prepared for them. If you decide to stay up to the end you will play it sorrowfully I expect, or perhaps in a state of bittersweet if you have others to share those final days with. Either way it will end darkly for you, so try to hold on to some of the good memories as it falls to hold that shadow somewhat at bay.

Well, I'm OK.     I don't play on Official servers, so no money traders or hackers, and I have never been a fan of the garish multihued dinosaurs anyway.

Well considering Ark 1 had more players by a large margin this last June than any time as far as I can see on Steamcharts I would hardly say its dying.

I suppose we will have to see when Ark 2 comes out how it affects Ark 1.

I am excited for Ark2 personally, but don't have a lot of confidence in studios turning out solid products, so it would really be nice if they were to surprise me with a quality product.

I don't play Ark, but was reminded of when City of Heroes was closing its doors. I never "played to the end", since I was pretty much done with it after their last update (Issue 23 or 24?). Many "end of the game" parties were hosted so "the end" could enjoyed with friends.

agreed, I still love the game though.
