I logged back in last weekend, checked out updates then the store & was reminded Amazon Games Studio hate feminine aesthetics so slunk back out like the lowly woman I am who likes to personalize my game a tad.

Don't need to give me bikini armor just a skirt for after battles, a Cleopatra wig or a nicer hairstyle would be nice....
Not quite sure, are you saying the range of women's outfits are not enough and everything looks like armour? If that's the case the cash shop has missed the boat. I understand they don't have an "overlay" outfit option so you can wear something "over" your armour, though there may be PvP reasons for that. If they had the overlay, cosmetics would be cooking.

In every guild I have been in, the women buy outfits, lots of them and it must have made the studio a mint. Guys do to, but by my estimation far less.
You can make nice simple linen clothing in the game. The clothing has no stats. I made a dress and bonnet for my character. No point as you can't wear it as a skin, so either run around gimped or don't wear it at all.

Well, they did say "for after battle" so the gimped lack of stats would be irrelevant.

But their whole transmute system is very primitive and extremely lacking compared to other current MMOs. Not only are you restricted to skins from the cash shop or promotions (twitch, prime, events, etc.) but you can't even customize those with the dye system.

They half-assed that part of the game and still haven't done anything about it.
The gimped lack of stats is relevant to the current game though. Like I'm going to carry clothing around with me and tediously swap out armor for clothing everytime I go to town or want to look nice. :p

I swear whoever designs the clothing, armor, and skins is a religious fundamentalist. Can't even have so much as a bare ankle  or the slightest hint of cleavage on female characters. Everything completely covers from chin to foot sole. They probably had a seizure when they were told to let female characters wear the new legate skirt.

And I'm not asking for "chainmail bikinis" here, but some decent short pants or open collar shirts with a little risque added in wouldn't hurt. Even the "femme fatale" Isabella dares not show any skin.

Well that's what you get when you hire nothing but Amish programmers.

Im a bit concerned that their may only be one FSS server per region.  Especially since they announced they will give one new character slot to all players.  I can see tons of existing players just logging in and making a character to reserve their name or something, driving queues, frustration for new players, etc...

I'll never understand why a huge company like Amazon can't have a system for pre-registering on a server or something so that they can gauge interest and people can see which are going to be crowded etc...

There would be a massive registration rush, but it would tell them the minimum number of new servers needed. As long as players followed through, which I imagine they would but that must raise a question mark for the studio.

I only have two slots currently, but there are far more than two servers in my region.  Number of servers =/= number of characters slots.

That said, I will repeat: I would only wait on Fresh Start if you aren't able to create a character on a current server with active territory wars and such.  You will be leveling alongside vets who know everything, you will lose low level resources nodes to companies power-leveling gathering and crafting skills, you will lose out on a lot of bonus items during crafting because the crafting stations will be low tier (just to show the potential, one tier 5 station provides my character with an 87% chance per craft for bonus items when crafting there).  And you likely won't reach endgame in time to do anything but join an existing company to participate in territory wars anyways, just like you would on a current server.  Only, those companies will have less resources stockpiled, so your opportunity for assistance will actually be smaller.

The economy is different for any given server, and not all servers are dominated by one company and their affiliated shell companies resulting in massive wealth disparities.

I know number of servers =/= number of character slots but when the FSS opens they are giving everyone an extra character slot.  You can't have a second character on the same server as far as I know, so this will lead to people popping into the FSS servers.  At least thats what I see happening.

I know you see the negatives of the FSS but it's what we are looking forward to.  I want to see the starter zones filled again.  I'm not going to rush to endgame this time.  Been there and done that.  I just want a nice clean slate to paint my story on.

Agreed and why I will be on fresh start.  While there will of course be competition for mats and mobs, it really won't be any different than when alot of us started out the first time (and may be better).  Gathering/crafting shouldn't be a focus at early levels for the majority of players.

That's understandable.  I would only add that the expansion has already brought new players into the current servers, as my server has activity in all zones atm.

If you make top end look and feel like a grind, players will walk. I know its old fashioned but what about putting some content in?!

Even if players had to redo some top-level quests, again and again (hello AoC, sorta) that would be better than this sort of "resource" grind. You could even have the quests give you resources if that was so essential to the system. Both take time and that's all this is about gameplay wise.

There is definitely some things they could do to re-balance the endgame.

They really need dungeon tiers. Currently, when you get to max level the only dungeon you can run is the level 55 dungeon. For the 5 max level dungeons players want a minimum of 550 gear score but usually around 580 gear score. Just to run the Normal version.

They should make the Lazarus dungeon balanced for gear score 500, Genesis dungeon for gear score 520, Tempest dungeon for gear score 540 and so forth.

That way new max level players that want to run dungeons can run dungeons and have another avenue of progression and get to know these dungeons before they attempt to run the Mutated versions at gear score 600+ which would be beneficial to everyone.

Also, maybe have set armor for boss drops in dungeons. The random stats for armor is a massive head ache and the reason good armor (not great) goes for 100,000 to 200,000 gold in the auction house.

Truth is, basic max level dungeons do NOT have any gear score restriction. None at all.
People in PUGs are just the same as in any other game, they want easy faceroll runs. Just join a good, likeminded guild and you will do those dungeons at 60 without any stupid GS requirement.

Other fact, just with faction gear, which is dead easy to get, you can instantly get to GS520 for armor and 525 for weapons. Tanks even get a full set of GS535 gear.
Or just buy some cheap GS600 stuff on the trading post and instantly get to GS550.
Or join some elite chest trains, and get your gear score up in no time. You even have a dozen of elite glyph chests in Brimstone you can get to solo without needing to join any group.

There's nothing to really re-balance here, except maybe the mindset of egoistical PUG players who want easy runs without effort, forgetting they also were new level 60s at some point.

I will agree about not focusing on crafting but everyone should focus on leveling up gathering as they go along from day one and try to get all of them up to 100 ASAP.

I have to say thanks to someone here who recommended it to me when I started on a new server a few months back

Else you will end up like my friend who joined at the same time but skipped doing it. When we run content together in the upper tier zones  he has to stand around watching me skin, forest, mine, harvest and fish every special spot since his skills aren't high enough.

His forestry was at 92 the other night and he swears as soon as he reaches 100 he is going to beat me to every "Blue" tree (Wrydwood) in the game. (I've been rubbing it in hard the past month or so)

I just shrug and say, yeah, but what your mining, the blue Star metal is still mine, all mine (bwa haw haw)

You will thank me later. :)

Ignoring gathering in this game is leaving a lot of gold on the table.

Until you reach max level items, you're not making much off of selling actual gear.  And even then, crafting plays a large role and, as such, gathering is required to complete that loop.

You can literally craft the Expedition gear drops if you have the skill while leveling, so you don't have to rely fully on RNG to snag that weapon you wanted from Amrine, for example.

Iirc, the blue named items you can craft are not random.  They have set attribute bonuses, perks, and gems slotted.
