Looking at other industries, I see a pattern. Cost of making stuff just keeps going up and up here in the west, but the Asian countries seem to be able to pump out despite these set backs.
We been seeing a slow down when it comes to high quality MMOs from western development, but a steady rise of eastern MMOs coming to our market.
How long before the Asian MMO market overtakes the western MMO market in general?
The game design theory for Western and Eastern MMOs seem different because of cultural Normal.
In the past we seen how sometimes these two cultural differences arent just a language barrier, and can compromise the game's life in the West. Look at Archeage for an example of this.
I wonder, as the Asian MMO take over the western market, will traditional western MMO consumer mindset also adjust and change? How fast can we expect that adjustment to take?

But hey, Embers Adrift released this year, but they are more in the minor event category like CU, Pantheon etc.
Oh, I forgot, Bethesda has one on the way, yes? Haven't heard much about it lately.

All they have said is that yes, they're working on one. Whether it's B2P, F2P, mobile or whatever is still not known.
The CIA can learn a thing or two from game development secrecy
We need more investigative gaming journalists to ferret out details.

And it's spread to the West.
The worst part is that, according to many, that battle is lost.
It's not, but there are a lot of unqualified producers who want to "get theirs", and a lot of RMTers who want to "get theirs" along on that ride, and they've won the PR battles to convince western players, and thus the western producers, that there's no hope.

Where has the creativity and quality gone?
Now people are saying to support very low quality western products just to send a message? What message would that send? That customers are sheep and will support trash products? How about they make amazing cutting edge games again, then see if they cant demand a decent price for it.
Tell me what MMO exists that is so amazing but at the same time too expensive that nobody is buying it?
There's surely are a few who are capable of creating a great game that breaks that mold.
Huge dollar investment is probably the big issue.
I'm sure the moneybags being told that only the same-old-same-old can work.

If people want new things they must demonstrate a willingness to embrace them. Otherwise you'll keep getting much the same or little of anything if such is generally no longer seen as profitable to provide.
Well that says something about EVE and the older MMO's that they can still get a sub after all this time.
It also says something about these new MMO that cant get the average person to dish out a sub, so they resort to whales, trickery and impulse buying.
Game has to be pretty good if you want the average player to dish out $240 per year on it.

So we could say, these new CF MMOs are not at the standard we expect but at least our way of playing is a good fit, we don't have to worry guild members will be disadvantaged by doing it our way. This discussion has occurred, some have gone to an Embers sort of MMO, for most like me it was too much of a leap.
If the West continues to make crappy shit they will not get me to play. If Eastern developers manage better games I will play them.
Plus I am Asian so I have always played just the games I think are good and I have never really paid much attention to where they come from.
