Decentraland Ozzfest

edited November 2022 in The Pub at MMORPG.COM
Decentraland is a cryto metaverse type thing I guess, found out about this yesterday and is having it's first heavy metal festival, well a music festival and Ozzfest will be one of the events. It starts in one hour and looks like you can view as a guest via browser or via a desktop application which is what I am using.  Looks really cool so far and I will be recording the whole thing from my perspective.

OzzFest, the iconic global touring metal festival launched by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne enters the Metaverse in 2022 as part of the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival! The OzzFest line up includes: Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Motörhead, Black Label Society, The Raven Age, Skid Row and Britof - becoming the first IRL metal festival in music history to enter the metaverse.

Thursday, November 10. All times in UTC:
7 pm - BRITOF
8 pm - RAVEN AGE
9 pm - BLACK LABEL SOCIETY
10 pm - SKID ROW
11 pm - MEGADETH
12 am - OZZY OSBOURNE

The festival will also include VIP viewing access and free wearable merchandise exclusively airdropped to Ozzy Osbourne’s famed NFT CryptoBatz holders. Unlike previous IRL (in real life) festivals, the stage for OZZFEST in the metaverse promises to be unconstrained by the boundaries of reality, set in a sprawling gothic castle with a giant OZZFEST logo emblazoned on the front, offering heavy metal fans a totally unique and one-of-a-kind experience.

I made a bogus crypto account, its not linked to my bank or anything like that and has zero fund btw, to unlock stuff fully as some thing you are limited too as a guest. I earned a sport outfit in lalaland or w/e it is called just by running around find hidden "shirts".

    Britof is playing right now.

It's really kind of trippy and I am enjoying it right now. Lots of blingy people running around too.

I have earned myself 4 collectible pieces so far 3 "normal" sport cloths/outfit from finding shirts and one "rare" spikey music festival haircut which looks much better than the standard one I had!

Welp Britof did a new live recorded session for this and it was good.  Good on them!

Raven Age however has cheaped out badly, no prerecorded live session looks like they just playing video with a "live" talk introducing the video tween each one...  bad on them!

So far my experience isn't all that good.  Anyone that post here moderately would know I am so not for NFT in my games....

They allow such here, even have a regular columnist who writes about them.

You are probably thinking of MoP which tends to frown on such conversations a bit more.

Guess they had to come up with some gimic to push up numbers after a recent report their average visitor count was like 30.

"DappRadar data showed Decentraland's daily average users came in at 30 people, however, the platform says a more accurate gauge of user activity is the number of unique visitors."

Its not great, I mean Britof, Raven Age skid row, megadeth and ozzy and there like under 1k people in chat......LOL

Who ever organized this is stupid..seriously.  Bands play a set for like 15mins then there a 45min wait time of nothing for the next bands set.

Dunno guess they expect you to bugger of and see some other events while waiting or just explore the "metaverse".

Frankly I watched a minecraftpalooza or something awhile ago and while the sound quality was crap compared to this it was organized way better with no where as near a long downtime between sets.

Yeah Decentraland isn't very active. I think out of all of them the sandbox or horizon worlds are the most populated "metaverses".

Though the report you are quoting isn't exactly 100% accurate either, but despite selling a lot Decentraland hasn't really been fleshed out that well despite being around for so long. But it's still really popular for "investors".

I like seeing the community talk about features like this. Because if it were a game like PSO2 with a huge concert we'd great about that, and metaverses are kind of online games in a way.

Because the crypto community wants a big party in order to celebrate the collapse of FTX?

Okay so the ozzy set was a bit better lasted about 30 mins but still sucked due to my client crashing and when I logged back in the screen was black and no ozzy avatar singing in the center pentagram....

Overall i am highly disappointed with this showing of Ozzyfest, it is truly something to be ashamed of as even minecraft managed to do a better job overall even if the sound quality was crap.

They need to do a better job with the backend and make it so its easier to connect andget back to where you where and make it easier to claim skins/nft's.

They need to make big bands put some effort in and not totally take the shit out of us with under 15min sets and over 45mins wait times for the next set AND make them offer new content not some BS videos....

I am writing this as someone that doesn't give a crap about crypto, I mean seriously all these bands should be ashamed for the BS they showed here.....

So you're saying this wonderful new tech that is about to take over the world any minute now, doesn't work very well?

Indeed.  Even new tech plagued with BS will have shysters trying to take there cut.....sadly
Ozzy has a fucking NFT now? *sigh* Maybe the dementia rumors are true. Or Sharon needs to step down from running things. Sad. Still love the fucker, though.

Yes ozzy had nft shit, so did motorhead.. i forget who else.  To be clear all this shit works on nfts all thr drops of stuff  even you can get for free.

Don't get me wrong the idea has merit and kind of feels like ready player one but more like as if the bad guys had won?

Dunno but kind of feel there has to be better options than decentraland for a meta verse type experience?

Let that be a lesson to everyone. Never put the bulk of your funding in a virtual currency with no fiscally responsible assets.

No way they could handle liquidating so many tokens of something not backed by real government backed assets. Just stupid.

Playstation Home was more of a metaverse then the actual "metaverse" is.
That's not even remotely true. Though there are games that are much closer as a social experience, like Roblox and Second Life.

The actual Metaverse or anything close to what it should be is a decade away at least.

And here I thought the whole purpose of crypto was to be "decentralized" and not need government backed assets. lol

Government could just ban cash, make all transactions require a bank card, call the new currency Dollaro and yay bitcoin with no mining needed and it's a government backed asset.   :D
China is already moving in this direction with their introduction of the digital Yuan.

It is remotely true. I'm not comparing Playstation Home  to something a decade away, I'm comparing to metaverse now. SONY made a mistake not building and adding onto PS Home instead of canning it, they'd be ahead of the "metaverse" game right now. But bad decisions are what they are good at. And yeah, add a VR mask to Second Life and it completely tromps what these fools call the current metaverse.
Second life and Roblox aren't proper metaverses though, as would be defined by today's standards. Even with vr. And neither is ps home.

There were metaverses built that would be closer. Like metaplace. VR isn't necessary for a metaverse.
