You know how the metaverse has been looked down upon by everyone because no one wants to go blind paying 12000 dollars in gas fees to furnish their house or dress their avatar? well, it got me thinking......
what if we take this concept of the metaverse and throw away the glasses and make a sandbox like stargate that links certain or all mmo games to try to consolidate the already fractured player bases. We can then force everyone into a cloud like they say they want to be, and we can all coexist in peace. It's like the comic con of mmo's. You can even make a pvp arena. This solves the security problem with games and fixes the player base problems.

If there's a Times New Roman, is there also a Divide by New Roman?
You are an easter bunny sir, and I will find you!

"OpenSimulator is an open-source server platform originally launched in 2007 for hosting virtual worlds and metaverse environments. It is largely compatible with the virtual world Second Life but full compatibility is not a design goal."
"OpenSim also uses an architecture known as "Hypergrid", which allows users to teleport between multiple OpenSim-based virtual worlds by providing a hyperlinked map which indexes public grids.[5] This allows for public grids to retain teleportation links to each other without having to be on the same grid. The number of hypergrid-enabled OpenSimulator grids fluctuates. A list of active hypergrid-enabled OpenSimulator grids is maintained by Hypergrid Business-Active Hypergrids. As of January 2020, there were just over 300 active hypergrid-enabled services."
Fundamentally though, the mechanics are what they are though. A core platform upon which variety of experiences get built and then linked between. That's exactly what Roblox, Core, etc are. Opinions of their content aside.
I would think that since multiple mmorpg games are made by different companies that would be problematic. I am assuming that these "gates" are just ways to log into another game?
I would also be hesitant to say that you can "force everyone into a cloud like 'they' say they want to be' because while some might want to be "forced" into a cloud not everyone will want that or even have the same idea as to what that looks like.
Just because you see vocal discussion about players playing together doesn't mean that the majority want to play together in the same way.

Everyone does want to be forced back into certain environments. People admit to it all the time.

As far as wanting to be "forced into environments" you might want to be forced into an environment but guarantee I don't.
And I would be highly surprised if I was the only one.
I've seen this topic come up before and I still think the only way it would work is if one developer had several mmorpg's and they wanted to link them for their customers' convenience.
