Wow! I always intended to play that game. A Tale in the Desert was another game that I was somewhat fascinated by.

Have had many breaks. But I always return. I find sinking ships and a deep economy strangely relaxing. 

Run by avid fans of the game. Others would have bailed a long time ago.

Roberts is almost a ghost town since legacy. So if you want to try the game for the first time my tip is go legacy.

Give it a go.  The sub is reasonable, and the other servers are free to play.  Only one way to find out if that grass was greener.  Certainly, a LOT of older players returned... so if you miss that particular player.  didn't get contact info...etc... but PotBS was where you guys had an awesome time... this is your chance! LOL

I'm glad to see that finally got the Legacy server up and running.  Thought it must be close when I got an email about the name saving feature for it.

Than I found out they wanted you to pay to save your name (you could of course just take your chance and I'd say for the majority that's the way to go).

I get that they need to make money to pay for it so a sub is reasonable, I'm just not sure I'd want to pay to relevel.  Heck I couldn't ever bring myself to level a 2nd character through all the same quests I did the first time around.

So if I ever come back to screw around and just sail abit and kill stuff I guess I'll stick with my main on Roberts.

I completely understand that sentiment.   I do not like pve or leveling.  I already know what part of the game I want to play.
