It can't be understated how monthly testing is a significant step forward. A major obstacle to entering alpha was the game client not able to support the 8,000 alpha backers. In one of the recent tests, there was over 500 players in a single area and the client remained stable. I imagine that was the milestone to go ahead with monthly tests. Even Ashes isn't doing monthly testing and they define their status as alpha.

Not sure it's as big a step as you think.  Camelot Unchained has had weekly "Beta" testing for almost 5 years.

It's a big step in the context of client stability and getting ready to seamlessly support thousands of players. I only mentioned Ashes is because I love teasing their supporters. Just sayin, Ashes aint in monthly testing. >:)

A big step with how many million more to go?

Like dude said....CU has been doing weekly testing for years and where is it now?

FOMO is very strong for the $500 tier "Alpha" backers right now.

    What's another $250?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a pre-alpha pass that you could hold in your wallet and sell if you dont like it our dont want to use it?

Just giving $750 for a chance to play a game that you dont even know if you'll like with no way of recouping any of those funds seems pretty dumb.

Ashes isn’t in regular testing because then Stephen knows he will lose control of the narrative.  He’s the  PR/MLM guy. I expect Ashes to be very good looking at the surface level when they start monthly testing and I expect the testing to be highly controlled to area that will “show” the best.

If Pantheon had his Marketing they would have raised 10x the money.

Only if it came with a guarantee I would recover at least 90% of what I spent.

Otherwise I'll just wait for the game to release.

I think this game is 1 to 2 years out from alpha but not for a second do I regret backing this game. IMO this is still a game that needs to be made.

I have a hard time understanding how people can claim a game is making such amazing progress.  And at the same time missing every yearly Alpha prediction they make, and Now the fanbois are forcasting 3x to 4x their original Alpha predictions.

So are you now agreeing with most everyone else that this game has not been making the progress the fanbois have been pretending its been making?  Or do you still believe this game is making amazing progress? LOL.

I think it could be both though. Its not black and white. They have been doing amazing progress with the client and how the game runs. They slowed down elsewhere. They are also a super small team of less then fifty people. So its taking a little longer.

I think you just hate to hate

That's the benefit of using Unreal, it can make anything look pretty. It's also my understanding that Stephen is a rich dude and most likely knows other rich dudes. That always helps.

This is the reason why people believe that Ashes will really happen because Stephen has put in a lot of his own money into the game.

It always reminds me of the producers though, "Never put your own money into the show."

Do you not see the benefit of the client being able to host thousands of players when trying to make an MMO when before it couldn't? That's a significant hurdle imo.

If you're truly curious, they post updates in the monthly newsletter what steps are needed to complete before entering alpha. Note quite a million steps but a lot of them. About 20 of them by my count.

Pretty much the same list from 2 years ago.  So in 2 years they have managed to complete 4 things out of 25.  So at this rate we might see Alpha in 12 years?  Wow thats alot of progress right there LOL.

Its not both.  Its the exact same as it has been the entire time.  The pace has been very slow, its still very slow and will continue to be very slow.  The only thing that is different, is another account shows up that takes on the mantle of Baghdad Bob trying to hype something out of nothing.

This has been happening in alot of these CF games.  Fanbois come out the wood work saying how much Progress the game is making, then after they educated themselves they either dissappear or go into full denial.

As far as small, all I will say is DAOC released 18 months $2.5mil budget.  That game will be far better put together than this one 100% certaintity.

8 years now people saying 2 more years before an ALPHA? seriously a decade to get to alpha is AMAZING progress.  What a joke.  Keep in mind, in 10 years it may not even get to Alpha, that is just a fanbois prediction.  Nobody even knows how long it will take, it could go on for another decade.

Meanwhile when they were asking for the money, at no point did they tell people it would take a decade before they could TEST the game LOL.

As far as I know that's never been confirmed.  If so I'd love to see it.  He always talked about how he "COULD" fund the budget eeach time asked he always dodged whether he did or how much.

You can get Alpha at $300. I have that supporter package. Its been a very very long wait. They are taking so long to develop this game.
