Blizzard can't really use the 'we need money for future content' when they still have D3 going all this time with no continuous monetization.
D3 doesn't have ongoing new content. It has periodic tweaks of existing content. You don't have to fund what doesn't exist. The regular addition of new content would require some sort of monetization to support it as it takes far more work than tweaking that already there.
Depends on what you mean by "content."
Every season adds new things (especially the upcoming one now in the PTR for testing) new meta-defining sets and items all of which are additions to the core game after the season is over.
No, there are no new "zones" or stories but anyone who still plays D3 after this many years couldn't care less about story mode, We play it for the loot and gearing and to see just how far we can push each season starting all over again from level 1.
It shows that you don't play it if you think that all that is added 3 or 4 times a year is just "tweaking."
I have played D3 over the years. I would classify the changes 3 - 4 times a year as tweaking. You think these are major design overhauls? LOL get a grip.
There's playing and then there's playing.
So what was your highest solo GR and what build did you do it with?
New sets were added for all classes a year and a half ago, a total rework of Wiz Fiewbird set, Natalya's DH set, and a bunch of other sets for all classes that play totally differently than they used to, the addition of Legacy of Dreams gem that makes non-set Ancient Legendary gearing not just competitive but often the S tier best for a given class...etc.
I bet most of that is news to you although you "have played over the years" whatever the fuck that means lol.
And point me to where I said "major design overhaul." We're talking about new content here.
I have seen mods do more. This is just modified content, not new. Which is tweaking.
I am not saying D3 hasnt figured out how to give some core gamers some replayability. Mods do the same thing. Mechanics tweaks, gear tweaks, resistance tables, all just modified. You are stretching.

As usual, you don't play the game at anything even approaching a high level, have no idea what you're talking about but want to sound like an authority... just like you do with New World and anything else you hate... which is almost everything.
Seems to be your thing. "Mods" lol.

New content, what is there that isnt just modified? What is the content that is completely new and didntexist in game prior to the season, someting that didnt just have variables changed?
Maybe there has been something, but its not much. You are acting like they are bringing all this new content but its not new at all, its just modified. Games do this all the time, many times to just a smaller degree.
Are you going to say any game that just nerfs or buffs some skills is new content? I agree Blizz takes it to an extreme that makes it feel different. Mods do this all the time. They just take ingame content, tweak it to make it feel different.

Already answered about 7 new sets, the LOD gem that allows a non-set, GR pushing game play a lot of other new items, and just last year a new bed game mode called Echoing Nightmares where you fight waves of increasing difficulty.
But you'd know all that because apparently, you play the game enough to know what's what... don't you?
So sick of all you gaming posers in this site with your ignorant, in the true sense of the word, comments about things you know nothing about claiming to speak from a place of knowledge.
Liking or not liking something? Fair enough. Not much knowledge is required for that. It's just a matter of taste and impressions.
But trying to be critical of things you know nothing about is just pathetic BS.

I have a problem with this too because it totally dismisses the things the players of a game say and disrespects them. There is no foundation just wild claims and nonsense because they wish it to be true. Play the game and then show proof of what you claim. Don't blow smoke up my ass.

LOL all these years and this is what you got? A gem? Yeah sure this new mode made it to the base game, thats qualified as new content. But over all that time, its just like I said ITS NOT MUCH. This is Blizzard and this is all you got?
I am not a Diablo 3 hater, but I am not some super fanboy that tries to BS everyone either. Diablo 3 is on maintenance mode, the Seasons are just a creative way to reuse existing content. Dont try to pretend like they are all new content when they are just modifing existing content.
You got some fanbois that try to Pimp their game and stretch the truth. Just like you did with New World, your fanbois club all were wrong on the predictions. Game is where pretty much the unbias posters said it would be, which is struggling to keep players in a death spiral losing 30% of its players per month after a very tiny rebound. I get you want to hype whatever game you are playing as amazing. I am just being a realist.
IMO D3 is still the best all around ARPG we have , and I play all of them ALOT , and enjoy each for varying reasons .But all around D3 is still #1 for me , ATM been testing D4 for over 4 months now , it will jump D3 .

It has nothing to do with liking or not liking and everything to do with your dimwitted ignorance.
There are many things about D3 I don't like, including the new content, and many, many things about New World I also dislike.
The thing is that I do play New World and have all my items maxed at 625 and I am also current with Diablo 3.
You are neither of those but yet you seem to think your ignorance about the game as it is today in February 2023 is the same as first-hand current knowledge.
The fact is that you can't speak knowledgeably about either current NW or current D3 and anyone who IS current whether they like those games or hate them know that you're just full of shit.

Many posters on this site respond to comments like reviewers do of someone's favorite restaurant or cell phone plan. Its a very dichotomous response and on the extreme, like much in society today - its either zeroes or tens, best ever or worst ever and nothing in between.
There are many varying degrees of fanbois and haters and your use and others use of those two words is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Take New World - the game has issue. My own posts reflect the times I have enjoyed it and grown angry with it. AGS made some bad design decisions that they are now paying for (but thats another thread). However its also a buy to play game, and like Gw2, it can see tremendous changes in population, but you calling the recent surge a "very tiny rebound" is disingenuous at best.
Complaining that seasons in D3 is reusing old content is not an argument. D3 is an 11 year old game. Maintenance mode is to be expected. The same really happened with D1 and D2 (for years) but was less noticeable because of the single player aspect.
Being a realist is seeing both sides, not just one or the other. And as always, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
I think the bigger problem is when people get confronted with their lack of knowledge or outdated views and start deflecting because god forbid they are wrong. I have 1000+ hours on D2 and 2000+ hours on D3. Iselin is absolutely spot on with every post, the counter arguments are either completely nonsensical, outdated by about a year or five or show that people really haven’t played the game beyond Torment 1, pretty much the tutorial really.

I agree with you, I am not a D3 hater. I agree D3 is reusing old content, denying that is where the problem is. I was simply stating a fact, where another person is acting like they are releasing all this new content. I dont think D3 did it wrong. I actually prefer they spend their time making D4 instead of extending D3.

Look at you, talking about clueless. You talking Torment 1 right now seriously. 2000 hours and you stuck on T1, LOL how is that even possible.
If you cant even do max torment then there is no point to even brag about your GR level. Torment 1 LOL get out of here with that.
Not sure you interpreted his statement entirely correctly. His implication was that if someone hasn't passed T1 then they are not in a position to judge endgame content.

I was actually going to reply to you then Lahnmir topped you with the thousands of hours.
You guys should know how much I respect putting the hours in, I am a completionist in solo and when playing a MMORPG I only ever play one other solo game at a time.
But I do think we can take it too far, first "are you playing", then "have you reached top level", then "have you played forever". I know you have not said this yet but I am waiting for one of you to say "You did not play it my way."
Fact is, I have been there, I have questioned guild members who raided as to how relevant their comments are on raids they have not yet done. Like I said we can take it too far. Let them opine and tell them why its wrong, after all what are forums for?

Just to be absolutely clear, everybody is entitled to their opinion, no matter how many hours you have played or whatever content you have or haven’t done, you can always voice your opinion.
However, not all opinions are equally valuable and when you dive into the specifics of a certain game the more knowledgeable person will be correcting you if you say things that simply aren’t true. You can still think D3 is the most horrible thing ever after just five minutes of play but you can’t state there hasn’t been any content added when there has been for instance. The actual problem arises when someone is confronted with their lack of actual knowledge and doubles down on their point of view instead if learning/admitting fault/whatever.
I have an obscene amount of hours in D3 since day one, across three different platforms. That does not make me a mindless fanboy or an authority, it does however provide me with enough knowledge to separate the nonsense from the facts.
As it does in Iselins’ case as every example that he provides is spot on. The examples Brainy calls ‘modified content’ are complete game changers and open up new ways of play and builds across all the classes on fundamental levels, it blows many scenarios wide open. These changes might seem insignificant on the outside, people who have actually played experiencing them simply know better. And I don’t really see a problem with that to be honest, we can’t all be knowledgeable about single every thing, sometimes others just know stuff better on a specific subject, no need to take offense to that.

No, you can't generalize and then extrapolate from your generalization to "you did not play it my way." That's just silly nonsense.
Sometimes people know what they're talking about. Sometimes people think they know but they actually don't. Sometimes people pretend they know when they actually don't... extremely common in social media.
Sometimes people who don't know tell someone who does know to "get a grip."
When disrespected by being told to get a grip, that creates a different dynamic.
You can ignore it, try to laugh it off with a cat meme or whatever, or disrespect the other person right back.
In this case, considering the source and what I know about their posting history, I chose to disrespect them right back with both barrels.
9 times out of 10 I would do that again.
Capisci?

There are many things about D3 I don't like, including the new content, and many, many things about New World I also dislike.
The thing is that I do play New World and have all my items maxed at 625 and I am also current with Diablo 3.
You are neither of those but yet you seem to think your ignorance about the game as it is today in February 2023 is the same as first-hand current knowledge.
The fact is that you can't speak knowledgeably about either current NW or current D3 and anyone who IS current whether they like those games or hate them know that you're just full of shit.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Seriously, I am looking forward to D4 (fingers crossed), as always lets see the launch and hopefully it is not cash shop crazy.

If you cant even do max torment then there is no point to even brag about your GR level. Torment 1 LOL get out of here with that.

Capisci?
