Yep. I'd still go with the 6650XT. There is always another GPU for just a few bucks more that gives you a few more fps. Value wise I'd rather have the $20 in my pocket than the minimal improvement.

For an even better value, there's the XFX Speedster SWFT210 RX 6650XT for $289.99 https://a.co/d/9PUwZg8. There are only 16 available, and we try to stay away from limited qty for a list like this. We went with the card in the article since it was still priced below most of the other 6650XTs.

I still run a 1060 with 6GB RAM that runs every single game I want to play (1080)  My friends mock me, but I have zero issues with any compatibility, no stutter in games, no overheating... while I hear their complaints all the time.  I'd hear people screaming during wars in New World about lag with their 3080s.. while I would just play with no issues.  Only game I ever had lag in was Crowfall during Alpha/Beta but once I upgraded to 32GB RAM that went away.  I can even play Star Citizen  ;)

Change just for the sake of change is not always good or needed.

Not saying I would turn down a RTX4090 or anything, but when i think of the thousands of dollars I have saved over the years... I think this card may have been one of my best all time value purchases I ever made.  Like $250 bucks 6 or 7 years back.

    @Splattr

The link for Crucial 2TB SSD doesn't lead where it's supposed to.

Also it's a bit bizarre that you list "2 times the storage as a similarly priced NVMe drive" as pro for that drive, but then immediately afterwards link Crucial P3 NVMe that would offer 2TB option at $114. Maybe you should remove that pro, and instead give both Crucial BX500 and Crucial P3 a pro for being cheap.

But you don't choose your graphics settings as if the goal is to get the lowest frame rate possible so that you can complain about it.  Some people do.

Here's the deal with CPUs. When it comes to MMORPG gaming, just about any modern CPU will do the job and the bottleneck will be your GPU. But if I was forced to pick one:

Best overall: Pick a price, grab the Intel or AMD CPU that fits that price.

    Best value: Ryzen R5 5600x - $166 with a cooler

    Best budget: Ryzen R5 5500 - $98 with a cooler

your response makes little to 0 sense. When you can get the better card, you get the better card. There's no reason not too at the 300 dollar range, simply because the tax is going to push you over 300 anyway. Newegg has the same price https://www.newegg.com/xfx-radeon-rx-6700-rx-67xlkwfdv/p/N82E16814150874?Description=rx 6700&cm_re=rx_6700-_-14-150-874-_-Product&quicklink=true
Then you say a better value , but not clearify that the 6600 cards are pci-e x8 only, and would need a pci-e 4.0 mobo to get the best performance. Should do better research before "recommending" lower teir items as they ar elower tier for reason beyond their streaming processor count.

No, you don't always get a better card just because you can afford it. I can afford a 4090, I won't buy one because I don't think it's a good value.

I am not saying that the 6650XT is a better performing card. The 6700 is better. Not only does it give a slight increase in fps, it also comes with an additional 2GB of ram. Value wise, which is the category in question, I will take the 6650XT and $20 over the 6700. You obviously swing towards the 6700, and that's a great choice if you don't care about the $20. But why stop there? Another $20 and you could get a more powerful card. And another $20, and another $20.

I'm also not sure what being in the $300 range has to do with value? It wasn't like $300 was set as a value price and the card had to come in under that price. It just happened that the card gives great 1080p performance and it happens to cost $300, not the other way around. And tax? What does that have to do with anything?

PCIe 3.0 vs 4.0 - fps is fps, I don't care how you get there. The 7700 is slightly faster than the 6650 xt, again I'll take the $20 savings. As for how much PCIe 4.0 improves the 6650 XT, you might want to think again. The following link shows the card using both pcie 3 and 4 at 1440p and, surprise, the fps gain is minimal at best. I don't care what the speed limit is on the highway, if your car can only go 60mph, you can only go 60mph.

Up until about 3 months ago, I was still using a 1070 and having no issues running games at 1080p. I upgraded my PC and I now have a 3070, which will probably last me a few more years.

Oled monitors are coming out for gaming this year, and it makes more sense to have oled for MMOs with their non competitive refresh rates. Dont buy into the high refresh rates at the cost of picture quality unless for competitive gaming in FPS games.

Also make sure to buy a glossy finish on monitor to have better picture quality.

And if your overall set allows, might as well get a TV and use that for the PC set up. Again make sure the TV has a glossy screen, which most do for the OLEDs.

There seems to be good OLED monitors from LG and Samsung, also Asus uses their panels to make their own top of the line monitors. And it seems burn in is not an issue, or at least it will last long enough until the next replacement of OLED tech or what ever it may be e.g. micro leds is the new leading tech at affordable prices at a later date.

CPU is probably the least important when talking about the key components for a gaming PC. You still need a decent CPU but you don't need anywhere close to the latest and greatest. You can save some money on a CPU and put it towards something more important like the GPU, RAM or the SSD.

OLED burn-in is still very much a thing. OLEDs are nowadays good enough that if you use your computer only for games and other entertainment it's unlikely to happen. But if you also want to use Office or other productivity programs that display always the same nearly static image then you should avoid OLED and get a normal computer monitor instead.

    A personal take:

Good to see the best keyboard has a keypad, so many reviewed on here are compact ones, I won't buy a keyboard without the keypad to remap keys to.

Gaming desks should always have at least two levels, my speakers sit there.

Also I agree you don't buy the best simply because its the best, there has to be a significant (not huge) increase in performance to buy the best. If its really marginal I won't get it, that's the difference between getting a top rig and just throwing silly money at it.

Finally that Asus RoG swift is already in my sights for purchase this year.

Yes, it is worth mentioning that there is a higher risk for productivity especially if someone is pushing the panel to its limit. However, the technology has improved greatly with burn in protection and warranty.

Overall consumers seem to be very confident on the recent quality of OLED, especially reading concerns on Burn-in on reddit posts for example. Or even you tube reviews.

So its worth considering as at least a top end choice for gaming if someone wants to game in MMOs. And ofc, to avoid any possibility of burn in, avoid productivity work on it.

I'll stick to my G815 + G502 thank you very much.

    Advantages ?
Both are wired, so no battery charging bullshit.
The touch of that keyboard is just amazing.
And the mouse doesn't have a trillion buttons, so it's actually fully usable.

And for audio... 7.1 home cinema with a TONOR streamer microphone.

Wait, you still have speakers? Damn, you are old school! ;)

I use a TKL keyboard myself because I used to have a small desk. I never really used the keypad for MMOs (12-button mouse for the win) so it wasn't a huge loss. I just recently upgraded to a 60" desk so I may dig a full sized board out of storage for spreadsheets and stuff.

And yes, the RoG Swift is pretty nice. I am still a fan of ultrawides, but if I wanted a good 4k monitor, I would dream about getting the Swift and then buy something cheaper.

The G815 and G502 are great pair. If you're looking for a low-profile keyboard, the G815 could easily be a better buy than the K100. I disagree about the G502 though; I like a lot of buttons on my mice for MMOs and ARPGs. I do keep a 2nd mouse on the desk for other games. And I used to agree with you about wireless products. Then I got some wireless mice. My keyboard is still corded but I'll never go back to a corded mouse.

What I think is really hard to justify is going with a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti at $650 over a Radeon RX 6800 at $480.  They're close in performance with at least some sites saying that the Radeon is faster.  And it's a lot cheaper, in addition to using less power under heavy loads.

I don't know how the products in this list were chosen, but at least some sites do them as "these are the best products from among the specific models that have been sent to us for review" and ignore everything else on the market.
