I would have been so happy with the option to work from home as it took me almost 2 hours to commute when I was working. Most parents are extremely grateful to have that extra time to spend with their children.
Missing after work meetups is nothing compared to the extra time you get to spend with your family. But then @Scot I must say your thoughts are that of a typical male who does not have to go home and do the bulk of the housework after work. So the after work meetups is a loss that is keenly felt by you but not a working mother.
Dear Working Mother,
I get where you are coming from, but what about all the single guys and gals? It would be interesting to know what age groups are going in? Maybe it is the young ones who are turning up so than can go out after work?
Also unless they have kids, are married couples going to stay in, not knocking marriage but it is starting to sound like a home arrest prison sentence. Surely marriages work better with some time apart now and then?
Yours Sincerely,
Typical Male
Don't have kids. I am seriously regretting my son.
Well, if he's a "typical" male he really can't "have" children, but he might sire a few.
As for what single people do, I can't say, pretty sure I was born married as I can't recall much before then.
No, wait, I do remember, my roommates and I used to buy a case of beer, sit in the dining room and play cards all night.
On weekends or occasional weeknights we'd go to local bars or clubs, usually after first drinking the case of beer.
Oh yes, good times that.....
My sister is 60 and single here entire life.
Sits home most evenings and drinks a bottle of wine and passes out....good times indeed.
Don't miss being single at all, and the children aren't so bad now that they are all grown up and I get to act like the child now.....

It seemed to run fine on my 4090 but different series I guess? Hopefully it's isolated to that one single card and not going to be an issue.
With New World EVGA admitted the failures were because of bad soldering.
With Diablo 4 most of the reported cases are EVGA. So, probably same thing.
Looking like its a good thing they left the GPU business.
Well that is interesting because when EVGA left people were spinning it to seem like Nvidia was pushing them with unfair margins. Looks like they were asked to leave for making shitty cards.

No. With New World most reported cases were EVGA, but with Diablo 4 most are Gigabyte.
I've been hearing EVGA and a friend of mine was having problems with the beta with his EVGA card.
But, it doesn't matter that much which manufacturer it is as these problems are never the fault of the game. It's entirely on the GPU manufacturers.
Tom's Hardware counted the reports on original reddit thread. There were: -10 reports of Gigabyte's RTX 3080 TI -5 reports of unspecified RTX 3080 TI model -1 report for EVGA's RTX 3080 TI, unspecified RTX 3080, and unspecified RX 6900 XT respectively
I believe I know what’s going on with some of
these PC shutdown issues. I had 5+ shutdowns yesterday while playing
with my 3090/5900x and 750w PSU. I couldn’t play for more than a few
minutes without it shutting down and requiring a full reset of the power
supply, which means the OCP (over current protection) triggered.
Today, I swapped in a 3060 and played for about 3 hours with no
issue. For some reason, I think D4 is causing much larger and more
frequent transient power spikes than other games. I’ve been using the
3090/5900x setup with a 750w power supply for over 2 years and never
encountered a shutdown while gaming before.
Just to confirm that the OCP being triggered was the cause, I swapped
in a 650w power supply with the 3090 and tried to play the game. The D4
splash screen didn’t even fully display before the OCP triggered and
the PC shutdown. Keep in mind that I have used the 3090/5900x with the
650w PSU in the past for testing purposes and never had any problems
with other games triggering the OCP. Only D4.
Something is definitely up with D4 and 30 series cards pulling a ton
of extra wattage, even outside of the already known transient power
spikes that 30 series are capable of.
There might be other reasons for some of the crashes being described
here, but I suspect a large majority are due to OCP being triggered on
systems where it was never an issue before attempting to play D4.
I feel that maybe in certain areas the gpu fps is running away like a cat on fire and that is the issue and possibly causing these spikes, I do believe that was the main issues with new world and the start/character screen or so.
I have a Gigabyte 3080ti, so this concerns me a bit.
If this is really the issue, then it should be a fairly easy fix for us if we can just lock/limit the FPS in D4? Like just lock it down to max 60 or 120 fps. Problem solved.
You can do this in D3 already and many other games, so I assume we can do the same in the D4 Beta and just limit the max. FPS in both game and background FPS settings?

I do think the fps lock doesn't always work in certain screens like loading screens, cinematics and in NW case the start character select screen or at least If I recall right that was the issue.
You can lock the fps in D4 there two settings for that.

Well I tried the D4 Open Beta this evening and my god!, the performance is terrible.
You are literally rubber banding and stuttering all over the map. Especially in towns it's really bad.
I was also shocked with the cutscenes stuttering like hell.
This with a RTX3080ti card with which I play games like CP2077 at max settings, including ray tracing.
I also not feeling it with the gameplay. Especially the combat. It's nowhere near that of Diablo 3, which has such satisfying and addictive combat. Maybe it's the performance issues and server lag that is causing this? I don't know.....
Glad I did not pre-order this mess. No way they going to fix these performance issues with little more than 5-6 weeks left till launch.
It will now be even worse than Diablo 3's launch, as now you are also forced to be online and sit through huge queues to be able to get into the game. /shrug
Maybe downgrade to a 1060 That’s I’m rocking. A little rubberbanding but not too much. No issue with cut scenes.
Main issue is getting disconnected and having to requeue for 40 minutes. On my 4th of the day. Annoying but last Friday was worse and by Sat was much improved. Will see if similar improvements come this week.

That has very little to do with your graphics card and a lot to do with the server getting hammered and overloaded.
The rubberbanding and stutter (I'm seeing that especially when I have 8 skeletons out with my necro) happened occasionally last weekend but it's very common today with the much larger crowds.

Yeah so? What you think is going to happen at launch?
Sitting in hours long queues to get in and then you have to struggle for weeks (or longer) on overcrowded servers until enough people give up and quit, to calm things down?
Diablo 4 is not like WoW, where you can see hundreds of players at one time in the overworld and in cities. I only saw a handful of players in my instance at most.
It also still doesn't explain all the stuttering inside private instances/dungeons and stuttering/hanging animations/cutscenes, when you are all alone. Like during the whole tutorial for example.
PS. Right now it's morning in Europe, with fewer people. Performance issues are still the same. Rubberbanding and the stuttering is still there.
So I hope for the devs, they manage to fix these before launch, but I highly doubt it. It's ActivisionBlizzard after all. /shrug
