Kinda makes me think that there is some major disagreement about something in the higher echelons of Riot triggering these departures.

I believe these days the monetization model is part of the early core design of most GaaS titles in the MMORPG space at least.
Doubtful many game leads really care enough to quit of such models though, they want a big bonus too.

Well, if you look at some of the comments, you can't really blame news outlet what folks suggest that it's "Probably" or "I think" interpreting the very limited and vague information. Speculating doesn't come from one source or group. Which is no different than saying "It could be nothing."
