Well. Sadly, I didn't play armored core back in the days...
However, I love mech games. I played a significant number of them. And this one is from FromSoftware... After Elden RIng they have no choice but to release a hit. I am really confident in their - art skills (well the trailer just confirmed that)
- understanding of what is a good gameplay experience
It looks good, but I am going to wait until it releases and I see how the controls work. I tried Mechwarrior 5 and hated the controls. Something that should have been a shoe-in on a controller felt like it was violating the laws of physics.

I never tried MW5. Because I have almost 1000 hours in MWO made by the same devs using the same models...
Never had problem with the controls though, but playing with KB/M... So maybe it was that...

Armored Core, afaik, has always been a console only title prior to now. I expect the controls will be built for a controller then adapted to PC.
The controls for MW5 are like a strange twin-stick hybrid. Right stick is look and affects direction. Left stick is move "forward" but it is on a completely separate axis. They mechs feel sluggish, which I think is supposed to replicate the inertia of their great mass or something, but it felt like my mech was moving through sludge.
This is the first time AC has been on PC afaik too. Not sure if you guys play on console but you might be surprised at how often made for console games have poor UIs or bad controls. I think making a good UI and intuitive responsive control scheme is hard on any platform.

Well, the retro scifi universe of MW describes the mechs as some sort of huge, slow but very powerful walking tanks. It is some kind of western concept, whereas the japanese one pictures more nimble and fast war machines.
This explains why the mechwarrior has torso and legs separated movement like a tank. This explains also why the MW franchise tends to play like simulators more than action games.
We can expect AC to be more action reliant than MW.

- level of polish
My only fear is they push the date back.
Straight on my Wishlist, but always wait for the reviews:

Hopefully this one is as good as those were!
