Herm. So no other games released at that studio (formed last year) and the lead is responsible for DCUO (though also seemed to work on STO, Neverwinter, and CoH). Dunno if the team carried over from Dimensional Ink Games, though they never released a game there either (worked on one of the canned attempts at a Marvel MMO).
It's an Austin studio formed and owned by NetEase.
PvE focus which is interesting. I saw some of the comments on that page laughing at that while the core tabletop army game is PvP, a lot of the other content around that franchise isn't.
Wouldn't put it past them to do arenas and battlegrounds too for PvP. Just the distinction that it's not the "core" experience they claim to be focused on.
In conclusion. I haven't the foggiest what to expect. I'll certainly give it a look when it's further along.
Doesn't seem so. The other MMO (linked in the article) is to be set in the Age of Sigmar, so I would assume GW would not sell 2 licenses to the same MMO setting (although who knows, I wouldn't put anything past them). I would probably bet on the old world Warhammer setting for this newly announced game(*). I mean, who would want to play Age of Sigmar? Apart from GW, of course...
The wording of the announcement is also a bit ambiguous, it could be a 40k MMO, since 'Warhammer' can refer to both settings. I would probably lean this way, since it will take a few years to develop, while in the meantime the new 40k show co-produced by GW, Amazon and Cavill will have already launched. So in case the series is successful, it would make good business sense to follow the first season or two with a MMO tie-in.
(*) A small edit: especially after the phenomenal success of the Fatshark's F2P move with Vermintide 2. I mean, 10 million players grabbed a copy and the game had for a while around 100k concurrent players on Steam. That's a pretty powerful message and not one in AoS's favour.
The role of a logo development company in projects like the Warhammer MMO by Jackalyptic Games is absolutely critical. The logo not only forms the first impression for gamers but also creates a sense of connection and recognition as they continue to engage with the game.
Something that's worth highlighting is how the logo plays a significant part in the digital presence of the game. When we look at digital marketplaces like Steam or Epic Games Store, it's usually the game's logo and cover art that captivates our attention. A well-designed logo by a professional logo development company can significantly increase click-through rates and overall interest in the game.

VT 2 is f2p? Since when? And why don't steam inform me about this?
I would play AoS IF they changed their stance on Endtimes, retconned them out and made AoS into a parallel dimension or afterlife of sorts. It has some very interesting ideas, both lore and gameplay wise, but ...
... these grudges can never be forgotten. Until they are resolved that is. But that's on them, not me.

It was given away free for a while, in the leadup to Darktide. But it doesn't appear to be free now.

Yeah, Fatshark made it F2P last November or something like that, for about a month. Later they published a news item on Steam about how they were floored by 10 million people grabbing the game within the few weeks if was F2G. For a while it was among the top 10 concurrent games on Steam.
Smart move, if you ask me, as they also followed with greatly discounted DLCs, so probably made a truckload of money off this move.
So, my guess would be that this will be a 40k game published by Amazon, tied with the planned show (for all the extra $$$) - season 1 and 2 to be released in 2025 (or perhaps Christmas 2024) and 2026, to be followed by the new 40k MMO in 2027 - 2028; if not, then out of the two options, the old world setting of Warhammer fantasy is incomparably more interesting and popular, plus the AoS is with Nexon anyway and very few people actually care about AoS to begin with. I don't think AoS will be retconned, for some reason, GW seems to be oddly mesmerised by this inferior and dull setting, which is a mystery to me, considering the appeal of games like TW:W and Vermintide.
To summarise my bets for this new MMO: 1) WH40k; 2) Warhammer old world; 3) AoS

It would have been an amazing move if Darktide wasn't so poorly received. they were clearly hoping to convert new VT2 fans to Darktide.

Meh, 40k is merely alright. I only truly care about BFG and RT stuff there. Maybe Steel Legion stuff too. Eldar are alright, but got nothing on Elves.

MMO's are in a weird place at this point. Do they just make another generic MMO or try something different.
