Gundam Evolution is being canned just under a year since it launched, Bandai Namco announced earlier today. The 6v6 Gundam shooter launched last year on PC and console and will see its service end on November 29th across all platforms.

Unfortunately- and I say this as someone just getting into Gundam stuff... It's a niche within a niche. Gunpla is still the IP's primary cashcow, even outside of producing the countless shows. There just aren'tt hat many Gundam games out for people these days and the ones that ARE... were made in somewhat poor execution.
Case in point, GEvolution. Feel good to play? Hell yes. Snappy. Feels good to get a kill.. But making a literal Overwatch clone and just reskinning it with stompy mechs doesn't work. Not only that, but they were locking mecha (the characters) behind either paying with RL money, or obscene grinding for the non-IRLpay currency.
It became a microtransaction hell.
And when it's just bandai namco making the same crap games time and again...yeah most of us are gonna go "I'm good".
Anyhow Gundam is just a stepping stone into real robo stuff. It's a perfectly nuanced series for younger people but lets face it. Most of us anime fans are hella old now or just straight cringe mode reddit anime fans
Bandai should look at these Gundam games and see why they are so popular and improve on this model with something truly modern unlike most Bandai games that seem to use dated engines and feel out of date from the day they launch.
