I missed it at first, but this is 2023 still, so SQNX is forecasting a 78% decline in operating income in Q1 2024, though 2023 Q1 was down some compared to Q1 2022.
No real details in the report other than to say it in part due to accounting for higher development costs and is despite forecast of higher sales next year.
Probably left out that the Executives need some new yachts or jets. .
More interesting is the declining MMO and mobile sales, both current and future forecast.

It makes sense that MMO sales are declining. Endwalker released December 2021 so the trend shown here is the drop in sales coming off the high of its release. Sales likely won't increase again until Dawntrail comes out, which means that it will potentially be releasing after Q1 2024 (after June 30th).
I would have thought they would forecast an increase in mobile sales would due to Ever Crisis, which is supposed to release later this year. I wonder if they think it won't do that well. It is basically another remake of FFVII except as a gacha game.
Final Fantasy is getting old and quite frankly the story isn't all that great. Hopefully they will fix it with VR but I seriously doubt it.

Not good, hopefully they stick to the strong titles, there are a lot of FF main and spin off's that seem second rate to the rest of the franchise too me.
This would be interesting if you could explain what caused the decrease, what it implies, and why that is important.
There are a lot of factors that could go into quarterly operating expenses and the title is click-baity. I'm interested. Do better.
I didn't write it, I just shared it here.
You didn't write anything, which is my complaint. Operating income decreasing or increasing is normal, depending on corporate financial projects. Write one or two sentences why you think it shrank and then a couple more on a premise and conclusion as to what it means and why it's important. Give me something to discuss.
Are we turning this into how to write a thread? I would be happy if we just did more threads and if thread posters who post a video always gave us the rundown. That's good enough for me.
As to the reasons, no matter what they say, they will have obscured details so as not to make them seem more vulnerable. Square Enix buyout anyone?

Who'd thought asking an original post to have a point would be criticized as pedantic.
Somewhere in there is the fallout from Forspoken right? it was Sqnix?
Forspoken is definitely in there, it might feel like it released years ago but it was actually the beginning of this year. Sales were ‘lackluster.’ Still got my sealed copy next to my PS5.

Are the sales of FF16 actually in there? As I thought it sold really well. It's a great game.
Also remember, FFXIV Endwalker was the last expansion and launched back in 2021.
FF7 remake part 2 is launching early 2024 and so is the new expansion for FFXIV, which will sell really well.
FFXIV is really popular still and all servers are packed with people every night. It's the most popular classic P2P MMO the last years. Sub numbers are undoubtly lower right now, but will rise right back up with the release of Dawntrail expansion.
Their accounting system for the free trial is insane. I've never seen such a mess in how accounts work. Needing two accounts to play a game and then if you stop playing the game they just turn off your access. very stupid.

Try making a trial for FFXI...
I did and gave up eventually because of the lag, but I vaguely remember going through multiple hoops and accounts just to play.
