NETFLIX getting into gaming

DigDuggyDigDuggy Member RarePosts: 694
Saw this on BBC. Apparently NETFLIX already has some games, but they are planning bigger things in the future.  I had no idea, but I think it's a good thing.  The more companies in the space the better.  Of course, NETFLIX pulls the plug on shows without mercy.  Hopefully, they aren't as ruthless with games

Yeah they have Terra Nil that I know of, which is free to play if you have NF. Good game, not worth the asking price if you purchase imho.

It depends how they do it,

If they just throw money at promising looking projects and let them do their thing, then great,

Is they take some creative control over the games, then that is bad,
Netflix has a lot more misses than hits my opinion.

I know they said it is about giving players games they actually want, but they also said they want to leverage their own IPs, so...

Hmm leveraging their own IP's, not sure that will go well. What they did to the Witcher in series three does not look good (only just seen first episode of the third series and the Blood Origins travesty). So not sure they are going to be any good at developing game IP's.

Unless Netflix does a bold move like buying EA. It's going to take a long time to build the gaming side of their business.
