It hasn't got the best reviews from what I have read. IGN, Gamespot and PC Gamer all gave it a 7/10 or 75/100 for PC Gamer..It will be a discount buy for me, next year sometime
Ah yes IGN, Gamespot and PC Gamer the holy trinity of quality reviews...
a major website on my country give it 5.8/10 , ofc ppl were up in arms lol
It's so easy to get sidetracked with innocent-seeming missions (eg. take a teramorph sample to a scientist on Mars) that lead you down a rabbit hole of chained missions for hours... and that's just a Vanguard side-quest.
I'm also finding the RPG character development learning curve, steep. There are so many options to train develop stealth, hacking, persuasion, different weapon specialties, ship upgrades, exploration... I hope there's a respec option because I'm just bumbling along and changing my mind about build-focus hourly
Also not a single bug of any sort yet.
Clearly your last sentence proves you aren't really playing the game.
A Bethesda title that isn't a bug ridden mess at launch just isn't possible, ("everyone" said so) so you are just making stuff up to try and be one of the "in" crowd.
Wait, wait are you saying I can take a poke at Iselin for talking about a game he has not played for like forever...(Sad face) From his subsequent posts it does look like he is in game.
A few people here truly hate gaming with every fiber of their body, they just haven’t accepted it yet, they are stuck in the ‘its not me, its you’ phase. Eternally it seems.

I think that's a misconception. What we see are players getting older and becoming more cynical and I won't pretend I am immune to that myself. But once you know your poster you take that into account while reading. Likewise we have posters on here who are total fanboys and those who have "honeymoon eyes" about every game they play in other words they see no issues but later overreact to every issue. So just like you adjust your take from a reviewer based on what you have seen from them before you do the same here.
You will never get an honest review of this game, sorry folks,
That letter doesn't have anything questionable. He's just saying a couple of words about their experience with the project, not trying to direct the reviewer.

From twitter "Apparently, this is the best game Xbox has had in a decade..."
To be fair that screenshot says nothing. I can turn my res to 640x480 and put all settings on lowest quality to make it look like minecraft too.
The comment also isn't true. Age of Empires 4 is awesome. (There are many others but just saying) I am loving Starfield, not sure what some people are talking about, most people are loving it.
It’s very good so far, but I feel like there was a lot of fighting with the menu systems at the beginning.
I am loving the game but am not loving the UI and navigation of certain elements within the menu system. It will be great when the first community patch fixes those issues and makes it more streamlined. To be honest I rarely have liked Bethesda's menu systems and always mod it. This game will still be played 10 years from now and will be considered a wonderful addition to the gaming landscape. The modding community will run wild with it. Pretty excited to see what comes of it.
4. Procedural planets with "borders" - One reviewer played over 100 hours and never encountered a border. The way the planets work is that you go to it for a quest and you do the quest in the area. FO 76 is similar in that there is a lot of empty or dead space on the map.
PCGamer just posted an article about it. The borders are real and in the game. They put it to the test and it only took about 6 minutes running before they hit the infamous barrier and the message appears.

Another one of Todd Howard’s lies for the history books.
Is that really a lie?
I think it's unfortunate but I'm not sure what the lie is. Unless he said you could seamlessly explore the entire planet. then that definitely is a lie.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Sort of unsure who would want to walk the entire circumference of a planet. This is a SCI-RPG. Not a space simulator.
You can do it in NMS but....why?
That is completely beside the point if one would like to do it or not. This is just making excuses for Todd Howards continuing lies. Boasting about stuff he knows not to be true.
Like I said in earlier posts. Todd Howard is Bethesda's own worst enemy and he has learned absolutely nothing from the FO76 debacle. He just keeps on lying, using shady marketing tactics, overselling the game massively and creating so much Hype, it's bound to create backlash and anger in coming weeks, when his lies are exposed one by one.
It's already happening on the Steam forums. The PC port is a total disaster. I hope for both Microsoft and XBOX's sake that the XBOX version is in a better state.
But then again... the PC players have at least one major advantage. Bethesda's games are highly moddable.... so you can depend on the modding community to fix most of the usual Bethesda problems in coming time lol.
The further in, the better it gets for me. The crafting and modding system feels like it's pulled directly from Fallout 76, which is an evolution of the earlier system in Fallout 4. There are weapons and armor workbenches where slots can be modified with various effects and perks.
Fallout 76 players should recognize the "Cornered" mod: Damage increases as health decreases. At some point I will make a bloodied commando. Seriously, there are some very rad mods for each piece of gear. In addition to space suits the undermarmor can be modified as well.

I am confused why you seem upset about a game you won't ever play. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this about your overhyping the disfunction of a game that has more good reviews than bad and the majority of people playing it are like it. Just seems weird. Perhaps disconnect for a couple hours and reflect. I'm new here, but I hope this behavior is not representative of the many.

I am more confused by the idea that we can’t trust professional reviews because they are ‘paid shills’ (still little more then an urban legend) but we can trust twitch streamers who would absolutely sell their mother for a bit of extra traffic and excitedly hopped on the ‘faux outrage’ train en masse because they figured out it is an easy way to gain attention. People truly can’t be that gullible. Making up your own mind also seems to be somewhat of a lost art.

As usual, the same crowd of numbnuts looking for things to hate about games they don't play.
Not real gamers just 2nd hand reviewer wannabes.
That is uncalled for. I've rarely hated on much but when it comes to game that rips off a lot of other games, almost like someone said to the AI engine "make a game like half life 2, Star Citizen and Mass Effect" and Starfield is what came out.
There's a lot of of question marks for me.. and PCGamer comfirmed a few them with a generous GENEROUS 75% score.
It's also been unearthed Bethesda has sent the game to specific reviewers who are helping to maintain a score of 80 on metacritic.
Then twitter, holy crap it's like a chinese labor camp of gooshing clickbait positivity of the game.
For me, the game reeks of corrupted review sources, a horrid letter to reviewers, and a marketing machine that not even EA could produce. It's positivity is more ridiculous then Cyberpunk's Negative launch.
Star Citizen isn't a game. It's tech demo that's duped rubes out of hundreds of millions of dollars. I'll be happily playing Starfield for years to come while you wait another 10 years for SC to get toilets that swirl in tune with the southern hemisphere of the planet.

The default settings are kind of ass. I turned down the film grain and adjusted some others and now it looks great. Not as good as say Baldur's Gate 3, but it's more than acceptable.

Man, the city is cool. I meant to focus on the story because the motivation would be there for the character to do so. Ignoring it for side missions seems a bit wrong, but it's so easy to get sidetrack through random NPC interactions.
I got some sweet duds at a highbrow shop and I'm sporting the green suit while I go about town. A guard passing by says, "Nice suit!"
I saw this post on reddit from someone who went off and did his totally unique thing with the game:
I was so intrigued by this city that I flew straight there after the initial opening of the game.
I had no credits and got a job smuggling Aurora. I now work as a chemist in the plant where they manufacture it.
I bought a shitty little shipping container home in the poor part of the city and decorated it. I’m saving up to buy a penthouse.
I’ve learned enough about Aurora that I can now manufacture it on my own - granted I can find the ingredients.
So now I’m saving up to buy a ship so I can find a planet that has hallucinogenics on it - a required ingredient of Aurora. Once I find that planet I’m gonna build an outpost / drug lab and hire people to help manufacture Aurora there. Then I’m gonna smuggle it into cities to sell it.
I’m living out a Breaking Bad space fantasy and I'm just getting started in the game.
I think it's awesome that true to their Skyrim roots they made a game where someone can ignore most of the main parts and get lost following a side detail like the drug Aurora on Neon
This is true sandbox style, you don't need to play the game quests. SWG was like this where you could literally be a crafter and craft one specific thing and get good at it and make loads of money, problem was smugglers didn't really have a decent form of smuggling until after the NGE. The fact that they have suggling in this as a job sounds cool. Sounds like this game has a bit of that type of sandboxing built in. On another note It would be cool if they made a Starfield Sandbox MMO since there aren't really any good sci-fi MMOs out there.

I don't care for the UI. It works but it's kind of clunky. You can tell it was designed with consoles in mind first and foremost.
