I'm the same with my gaming laptops, I see how many years I can stretch them out, up to 5 yrs sometimes as online games that I play rarely require top line hardware and I don't PVP in shooters or the like.
My current video card is a 2070 and still not having any reason to upgrade
I'm rocking a 1060 (6GB). It even played Starfield fine (on my 1080 minitor)

I have a gtx 1080. seems fine. Starfield is ok at highest settings though not very smooth. I just put on medium and it runs fine. Might be tie to update my video card. Not sure what I would get though.

I did a 10 minutes demo of Horizon Zero dawn VR in a video game store. It is actually really fun. But don't have the money to buy a PS5 and VR head set.
